Valid Reasons for a Wife to Seek Divorce.
Q: If a woman asks her husband to divorce her for no reason and he rejects her request, would he be sinful for that?

also if your leader specifically picks you out to pray or get killed and you refuse then you die a kaffir and you're not to be buried with the muslimoon.
According to shiekh Al alabanis opinion and many other mashiakh if one leaves of prayer while knowing it's an obligation for him then there still Muslim however if one denies it's an obligation then there kuffar. Last case scenario is if one knows it's an obligation and the ruler calls him out to do it or be killed and he still refuses. Then he died a kaffir.

Of course not! That's not what Islam is about - you are answerable to your own actions to God not the government!

If she asks her husband for a divorce, she must then return her mahr to him. If her motive for wanting a divorce is that she hates him, she must return what he gave her as a mahr.

Yes, if the wife asks for khula she only gives back the mahr or part of it, if the husband will agree to it. This is part of a fatwa from shaykh Fawzan hafidhahullaah about khula:
The evidence for the permissibility of al-Khul’, when there is a valid cause for it, can be found in the Qur’aan and Sunnah and the Ijmaa‘ (consensus of the scholars):
As for the Qur’aan, we find evidence in the previously mentioned verse wherein Allaah says:
“…except when both parties fear that they would be unable to keep the limits ordained by Allaah (i.e. to deal with each other on a fair basis). Then if you fear that they would not be able to keep the limits ordained by Allaah, then there is no sin on either of them if she gives back (the Mahr or a part of it) for her (to achieve Khul’).” [Surah Al-Baqarah: 229]
As for the Sunnah, then we find in the authentic narrations:
Narrated Ibn ‘Abbas (raa): The wife of Thaabit bin Qais came to the Prophet and said, “O Allaah’s Apostle! I do not blame Thaabit for defects in his character or his religion, but I, being a Muslim, dislike to behave in un-Islamic manner (if I remain with him).” On that Allaah’s Apostle said (to her): “Will you give back the garden which your husband has given you (as Mahr)?” She said, “Yes.” Then the Prophet said to Thaabit, “O Thaabit! Accept your garden, and divorce her once.” [Al-Bukharee] [3]
As for gifts given throughout the marriage they should not be returned. Because it is disliked to take back or even buy back a gift.
      Imam Al-Nawawi’s Riyad-us-Saliheen
      Chapter 285
Undesirability of giving a Gift and then ask back for it
1612. Ibn `Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) said: The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, “He who gives something (to someone) as a gift and then gets it back (from him or her) is like a dog which eats its own vomit.”
Another narration is: “He who gets back his charity is like a dog which vomits and then returns to that and eats it.”
      [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
1613. `Umar bin Al-Khattab (May Allah be pleased with him) said: I donated a horse in the way of Allah. Its new possessor did not treat it properly. I made my mind to buy it because I thought that he would sell it at a cheap price (now that it became weak and emaciated). I asked the Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) about it, whereupon he said, “Do not buy it and do not get back your charity, for one who gets back the charity is like a dog that eats its own vomit.”
      [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
      And Allaahu ta'ala knows best.

This is very interesting - however they're allowed to divorce if they hate you and if Allah hadn't put love in their hearts for the man? I'm surprised - as why would a woman marry a man in the first place if she hated him? Isn't that a bit unjust towards a man that she hates him for no reason and causes his home to break up?

This is sometimes the case in arranged marriages or if a man is other than he presented himself to be
