Passenger Screams as Plane Takes Off for Barcelona

- She has a fear of flying, so this African woman began screaming as the Vueling Airbus 320 begins to taxi and takes off from London's Gatwick Airport. Some passengers thought she was joking. But as we were both seated on the aisle seat across from each other, I could see her face turned pale. She was truly frightened, and told me once the plane had stabilized.
I had the same reaction when i found out how much they charge for drinks on my flight.
lmao
Hahahaha.....very funny
Hahahha
Bahahaha!
Lmao.
That kid saying "Whos doing that" with an angry tone killed me lmao
aleX NG me too.. I started hollering with laughter
Oh my, I know my kids would have said something like that as well. Lol!
thanks
Me too
😂
at least she tried her best to stop, and explained herself to others.
babsfocker when did she explain herself? I must have missed it?
babsfocker she didn't have to
Well, maybe she did. I heard some foreign babbling, that could have been what they heard, who knows. The funniest part was the kid asking "Who's doing that?" LOL
When? Time stamp.
"Im sorry I just RAAH! RAAH!"
I absolutely love taking off in really heavy rain. To go through thick, dark clouds and to emerge into clear blue skies a few minutes later is magic. I once had to go through the de-icing system because of sub zero frost, very early one morning. First time I flew, I was terrified and it took about 3 months to begin thinking, it really wasn,t that bad. I will fly anywhere now and look forward to it.
The poor woman. I bet she convinced herself she could handle it but couldn't hold back her fear. I can tell by the sound of her screams that they are not exaggerated but real.
I never Been in a plane but it sounds ver y scary
its not that scary I've been on one 6 times ✈✈✈✈
True, but if people can't handle such a minute encounter, it is time for nature to 'select' them.
+swampzoid Well said.
Sitting in the passanger seat insdie of the plane that going through rough turbulence is hell of experience, it's like riding roller coaster that is constantly going up and down more than 1000 times XD
I'll never forget this video. She went from an opera singer to a parrot screech.
😂😂😂😂
More than likely based on some opera singers I've had the misfortune to encounter.
😂😂
The take off is my favourite bit. The acceleration and power is brill8ant
so very cool, Andy, I agree!
Same
That's only natural if your last name is "Wright." It's in your DNA.
Its the least fav the acceleration sounds terrifying and when in the air it feels like the plane is dropping.
@@Trabalheiasemanainteira I know the sensation, but I look at the flight attendants sitting in jump seats. If they don't look scared, I realize it's okay.
Having anxiety/panic attacks are the worst feeling in the world, especially when people find it a joke and don't understand the real fear inside. I feel for her so much, thankfully she didn't pass out or anything worse.
Dolphins,a panic attack doesn't make you scream...she aught not to fly then...
I get why she's so scared because on my first flight in February the dropping fleeling after takeoff is the worst feeling in the world besides slamming your finger in a car door i didn't have a panic attack or a fear of flying but i was just kinda scared for a bit because i wasn't expecting it but i get why shes frickin out also it looks weird to see the ground disappear
lololololol
*She’s obviously being dramatic.*
I am fully agree with you ! I'm a person who panics easily and it's something very bad, but are people who don't understand and laugh evily . I also had a panic attack on the plane, and the passengers who heard me, laughed at me, but it's nothing funny, the feeling of fear and total helplessness is the worst in the world, for shure ! For example, during this period, I have to undergo dental treatments and it's horrible, I'm so afraid...

I have compassion and empathy for her. So many people have this fear with flying - she was just more verbal than most.

Oh, bless her heart, she sounds like she was trying to keep herself from screaming really loud. It's cruel to laugh at people who are afraid of flying-- especially after 9/11.
streamofawareness as well as for those of us whom were around Pan Am flight 103 and TWA flight 800 both crashed
The chances of you being on a hijacked flight are so ridiculously low, it might as well be 0%

Lmfao I don’t!! I’m crackling over here 🤣🤣🤣
Bruhhh I would have been laughing so hard on that plane.
I always put on a brave face but I'm scared shitless every time, because take off and landing are the most nerve wracking time to fly.
I think they're the most fun! What's in between is boring as heck.

Taking off is a fantastic dopamine rush for me.
"Its all right now... WWWWAAAAAAHHHHHH" im done 😂😂
I'm through.
Ohh yeah😘😘
IKR 🤣🤣🤣
The last time I flew I didn’t scream but cried silently and struggled to breath, I can’t even describe the fear. It felt like it paralysed me, but I desperately want to travel and get over it. I’m not sure why I’m watching this 😅
Nothing to be skeered of.😅

You are funny.
I know exactly how she feels. I had the same experience once and didn't fly for four years after it. countered it by taking sedatives every time I fly, each time taking less until I don't need them anymore. I truly sympathise with her.
Jodie Zawadzka what kind do you take? I take Melatonin.
@@Sweetheartbabez Take a couple of Xanax and you'll be feeling awesome. :)
I am agree with you, especially since I went through the same experience, I empathize with anyone who is in pain, who suffers.
Bless her hope she can overcome her fear
I can understand this women , take off is the scariest part of flight because the engines suddently make loud noise , you can feel how powerful they are , and then your are pushed backward and stuck into your seat , you feel you wheigh tons
the feeling that gets the most of people is after takeoff. when the landing gear are retracted the Aircraft loses drag. you will start to feel a downdraft, it feels like your stomach is moving. you also get this feeling while descending into turbulence.
467v right
I love the experience of taking off.
Judy Paranish people have no choice
isn't it called it gains drag instead of loseing?
When other people are scared about something it utterly terrifies me because I know we're all in the same boat
i really feel bad for these kind of people.
I remember my first flight as a kid, i was scared shitless but I was more amazed that humans were able to fly in the sky. And as a kid I was able to appreciate that.
whenever I fly i am always scared, but my amazement when I hear the plane start up and when we gain speed and start lifting from the ground it calms me down cuz its an amazing feeling !
My heart goes out to her...wish I was there to comfort her and talk her through it..Everyone has FEARS...and how they deal with it.God bless.

Lol Bridesmaids ftw
I Did Not Know This .
I love how she started to scream when the plane wasn't even going fast enough to take off
She probably started screaming when she made her reservations.
It really wasn't a scream. Just a bunch of grunts.
from halo
Anonymous lol she screams at the end
But I didn't see any team rocket grunts on the plane.

Poor lady, as a man who suffered from chronic anxiety attacks and depression for over 20 years now, I know exactly how she’s feeling, and unless you’ve ever experienced a panic attack it’s impossible to describe. Just try to imagine the thing that scares you more than anything in the world, and being forced to confront it, with no one around to help you, and no way to stop your body from falling apart as your heart races, your chest hurts, you can’t breathe, everything around you feels like it’s closing in on you, and you have a feeling that you were going to die, and have no way to stop it. Pardon the pun as this is about an airplane, but your fight or flight response kicks in, and the only thing you want to do is run like hell, as fast as you possibly can away from the thing that scaring you, but when you’re on an airplane you can’t do that. My worst attack happened on the bus doing 120 km an hour down the highway. I can’t describe how terrifying it is, it’s beyond pure terror, and you literally cannot stop yourself from screaming and crying, I actually went into an epileptic seizure, and then a very mild heart attack, simply because my BP was 210, your average BP is about 75. It was just too much for my body to handle so it shut down, as did my mind. The other passengers got the bus driver to pull over, someone called the ambulance, which was there in seconds, and I spent a week in the hospital, all because I had the worst panic attack imaginable. So please do not criticize this lady, it’s not her fault, and she has no control over it. It’s simply a medical condition, which you make fun of somebody having a full-blown heart attack? Why is it OK to laugh about this? Both are equally serious and her both legitimate medical conditions, I only ask that you please show little more compassion if you witnessed somebody having a panic attack, because laughing just makes it even worse for the person. I just prayed that poor lady made it to her destination safely.
Unfortunately I do know perfectly well how you feel, although my anxiety crisis are by no means as bad. Problem is, medications have a very brief success against anxiety only, and there is no treatment to depression unless you are able to _suppress the stressor,_ but in many cases this is beyond you, like when dealing with an affective loss or radical unwanted change in your everyday life. My BP too always hangs above 100. Anyway just DO NOT seek a psychiatrist as per my experience they will all seriously worsen your state. Trust me. You will be nothing than a guinea pig for them and they have no clue whatsoever about how to help you. Once, one of them, a very young, arrogant and rude young girl overloaded me with so many medications at the same time that I started suffering from serious paranoia and mania simptoms besides not improving from anxiety and depression. I decided to stop driving. Things only improved when I literally threw _in the trash_ all the sheer madness she had given me to take. In hindsight, I believe I should have prosecuted her or at least request an investigation from the Hospital Administration. That would have reduced her arrogance in no time! Believe me, I do understand your ordeal too well. Wish you all the best.
She doesn’t have to scream like that though and scare evereyone half to death …. Especially young children
take a pile of B vitamins thats how you fix your issues, and magnesium before bed.

I'm afraid of flying, too, but this made me laugh. I have an embarrassing moment of my own from the last time I flew: I held someone's hand... across the aisle... and it was another guy. I feel really embarrassed about that. Once the plane landed and came to a stop I got off without making eye contact with anyone.
Oh dear, that really made me laugh out loud!!! Damn what we do when we're scared!!! I can't stop laughing as I'm imagining the scene in my head😂😂😂😂
That was me across the aisle, and it wasn’t my hand.
I had a lady grab my hand from across the aisle once, but to be fair we were in a 9 passenger Cessna flying straight into a thunderstorm and it was bouncing all over the damned place. When we touched down she said "thanks hon."

I did both but only to be fair....
Bertie Bassett it is though
I'm super afraid during take off. I hate it. I have to really focus on my breathing and staying calm. Sometimes I cry a little. It sucks. I'm very careful to be quiet and discreet. I always sit by the window and my husband sits in the middle that way nobody notices. It's embarrassing
littlean24 I’m the same way
I thought it was only me. I just flew back from LA to DC and I was having panic attacks the entire time. When I flew over there, I cried, but it was because all of my nerves just flew out me and I was relieved. Never felt that feeling before. So yes, it's embarrassing, and yes, I must have the window seat. I hate everything about flying. The dropping sensation, the ears popping, the crying babies. The only thing I love about flying is the beautiful view you get from flying. That's the only thing that helps me to enjoy flying.
So why share your pants shitting experiences that you can’t get over
I listen to music and imagine I’m in a different place.
Don’t worry hun x there’s a much higher chance of dying in a TRAIN crash than in a plane 👍 think about it as a plane to victory since your holiday feels like you have won something😁
I can't even be mad at the lady, I'm afraid of heights my damn self...
Cos Girl I shake rattle and roll when I am up high and you literally have to get me stoned out of my mind in order to get me on a plane. I would have to carry a few puke bags as I am prone to motion sickness

I miss flying so much. Gives me such a high and buzz
Did anyone notice the "KEEP CALM & BREATHE" pamphlet in the seat holder?
That lady who was freaking out really needed to do that lol
Al EC yeah I did!!! I was thinking to myself when I saw that and said maybe the lady should read it! Lmao!

She has my sympathy! I used to hate take offs. I never screamed but use to hyperventilate and have a panic attack. Don't mind turbulence or landing. I've overcome it now and did two flights on my own this year. The fact is it's more dangerous driving to the Airport than on a flight!
Maybe she knows the truth of flight. It’s an optical illusion coupled with hypnosis. No way can three hundred tons of metal containing gallons of Esso Blue suddenly leap into the air against all the rules of gravity.
that’s so funny and interesting. I don’t mind take off but I hate turbulence and landing hahaha (I mean I LOVE landing but no descending- you get it!)
Especially at LAX
I mean I just don't understand why this is in my recommended

This happened to me in 2012. I felt like I was going to pass out and it was impossible to control the feeling. I screamed for at least 10 minutes when we took off. I will never fly again. Never.
You scared yourself out of a lot of fun. Don't let your fears control you.
I am so sorry for you, to hear about this.
And the folks who paid full price to be strapped into a seat with a screaming nutjob thank you.

That wasn't to bad. I would probably try not to laugh. A child screaming for hours on the other hand....
Feel free to sit on the wing till she can calm down.
Someone should have sat with her and comforted her....❤❤
As a pilot myself, lift off is my favorite part of flying but I also have my fears as a human. We each have at least one fear no matter how much we say otherwise.
As a passenger once, I sat next to a woman with a horrible fear of flying and her husband next to her. I was able to calm her down as I diverted her attention by explaining what was happening in the cockpit as the plane taxied out and during lift off. What ticked me off more than anything was her husbands friggen attitude in making fun of her fear. That does NOT help! He continued on with it and after she and I exchanged phone numbers, I told him he better hope I don't figure his fear! He shut right up!
We need to respect people and have some compassion. It's not that hard!
Juanita Sullivan its Mr.steal yo girl
Juanita Sullivan well said pilot. it's the turbulence that we women fear. I travelled the world without a problem . Lately I developed a fear of flying. it was after a bad flight. hats off to you guys really how you fly them . I really respect all the people who work on a plane. Salute to you pilots. don't you guys ever freak?

Very common in Europe
When taking my granddaughters on their first flight, I filled them in on what to expect…..the G forces, the sudden liftoff, the pressure of landing, the sounds, the turbulence; explained the flaps on the wings and what they did (they both wanted to sit by the window(!), etc. Always good to explain ahead of time what the experiences will be, especially to a new flyer. 😊
How can't you appreciate the miracle of flight?!

I swear, it's just a dude who sounds like a girl. has that tone to it.
What?
trut me, ive heard men who sound like it, just the moan at the start, not the actual screams.
So is that a boy who where screaming???
no. not in this vid, at least not the ones once the planes in the air. I'm talking about those "noises" he or she was making while the plane was approaching takeoff speed.
You can hear little kids in the back handling this like nothing. Normally the adults would be annoyed and the kids would be scared.
Me when I was little and wasnt afraid of heights: This is so cool!!
Me now:
That creates quite a serious problem in the cockpit, because the state of that passenger will soon be reported to the PiC by some Stewardess and he will have to decide what to do if she doesn't calm down and recover without delay.
If he does nothing and the PAX eventually has a fatal heart attack or stroke he will be in very serious trouble and may eventually end up accused of manslaughter.
If he decides to land again and disembark the PAX, he will be maligned by his company _at closed doors._ Likewise if he is forced to divert. In the end, I believe most pilots will opt by staying on the safe side, declare a _PAN Medical,_ land and get rid of that liability if it goes to that. If she dies on board it will be much worse.
In any case, the passengers will nervously demand that something be done quickly and if not soon the whole cabin will be in absolute disarray. Keep in mind that many passengers are also stressed and in the verge of panic. It doesn't take much to make them lose control collectively.
KEEP CALM AND BREATHE
This happened to me once on the plane I was on Spirit Airlines from Laguardia NYC to Miami FL when the plane is taking off I screamed. But on this smooth takeoff one passenger has been screaming because of how fast the plane is running
That was me on my first flight a year ago and it's about to be me again in a week! I HATE flying I don't have a choice but to fly at this point though, then we had turbulence on the second flight home and the plane kept dropping and shaking I think I almost fainted. I know people laugh but for people like me it's as close to death as you can get being that high in the air! Even I laugh at myself after I get off the plane but swear I'm never doing it again then someone dies and I find myself on a midnight flight! I quit.
I can't imagine what the other passengers were thinking.

I once sat next to a poor young woman who had extreme fear of flying. She never made a noise, but she was gripping seat in terror and reacted to every move the plane made. I felt so bad for her. I did wonder if she'd ever flown before, and if so, why she would ever fly again.
all of you would be horrible detectives. it's pretty obvious from the noise that she had just turned on a really huge vibrator.

poor woman, hope she was alright after.
I was waiting for a zombie to jump in front of the camera.
im scared of planes even though its the safest way of travel, you just cant control it
People would have to heavily sedate me before I step foot on to a plane. I also have a phobia of flying
During my first flight I was terrified, but silently rocked back and forth and hugged myself, this old couple who was sitting beside me talked me through it. Kinda sucks to be her, but how she sounds was me physically on the inside lol. I get it.
I have a fear of flying as well so I really know what she is going through. It’s hard to even get the courage to get on the plane.
What's the most frightening part for you? As someone who loves aviation it's hard to wrap my head around
I think she's more scared going back to Gambia.
If you have a fear of flying, please stay off the plane.
Thats 1 in 4 flyers. Um no.
Poor lady, she was clearly terrified. Take off and landing are the worst. I feel so bad for her. Her anxiety is palpable.
That's the noise my neighbour makes when her other half is giving her one, only much louder.
Alex Wilde We must have the same neighbour.
I feel so bad for her. If I was thwre I would support the hell out of her and try to calm her.
I am gree with you,

I recently flew to Berlin, and it was the first time that I'd been on a plane since I was 5 years old. I was shaking with fear as we took off but I didn't scream. Once I'd had a drink I was much calmer and the flight back home a week later was fine.
I cracked up when the kid said "Who's doing that?!" XD
Poor women. I bet a a cabin crew was rdy to take off their seatbelt which they shouldn't do but if it would become even worster, one would have got up to check on her even while take off. I have seen it once, when a guy was freaking out during take off and a cabin crew came to check on him due he started to panic alot and did shaking the front seat of another passanger but said quickly sorry to him and told the entire cabin he has a panic attack that's when a cabin crew came in while the aircraft was still claiming. 🥺
This is absolutely my favorite video on RUclips! She reminds me of my maternal grandmother who likely NEVER flew, but when she got terrified of something, she made these same noises.
heart-warming
I was married to a pilot and i always remember him saying “i dont want to die any more than anyone else - therefore put your trust in my knowledge that i know what im doing” - i don.t fear flying at all
Why is this me on a plane after I’ve been on a plane more then once 😂 I seriously hate flying
This poor woman. For first time flyers or people with panic disorders flying can be absolutely terrifying. Panic disorders and anxiety are deliberating and should be taken as seriously as PTSD. Someone who has never experienced it doesn’t understand, but it’s legitimate and it’s no joke.
The first flight is impossible to forget 😁😁😁😁😁😁

I can assure you it's not a 3hr flight from London Gatwick to Barcelona, more like just under 2 hours, I've flown from Gatwick and Luton to Reus which is about 100km south of Barcelona many times
poor woman,scared of the unknown.
The best thing to do in a situation where a passenger is panicking and screaming like that is to grab them, shake them violently, get a wild-eyed look and scream "WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE! THE PLANE IS GOING TO BLOW MID-AIR!" repeatedly.
i remember first time i flew i almost pissed my pants but kept my screaming at bay... now it's just the rough air that can give me some discomfort
Just before takeoff, I somehow get goosebumps and the chills, because it's a..... "big plane", taking us high. But after takeoff, I feel relaxed.
I could just sit back and enjoy take offs and landings all day!
It's one of the most beautiful experiences in the world!
