- The tech sheet from Foma was used to choose chemicals, times, amounts etc to develop Regular 8mm Fomapan R 100 movie film with. Everything was different from the Kit I bought with premixed chemicals. I had to get these and mix them myself. They were not the same things at all.
Can you list everything one might need to purchase to process this film? I have two rolls and can't find anyone who can process the film within the timeframe that I need and will have to try this myself.
it is not necessary to wait to add the acid. That idea came from mixing the kit, which uses Permanganate.
Great processing video! I was wondering about the ratios on using Fomadon LQR in processing R100. The Foma R100 kit they offer has a different dilution and different times (10-12 min.) for first developer.
Their method makes dark film. I like lighter film that can be seen projected in daytime
So I've been trying to develop Kodak's new 16mm tri-x reversal film using coffee developer. I got the image to come out positive but it's very faint.
I've been developing the film until the negative looked good (Using a red light) then re-exposing and developing again.
it kind of looks like the positive is a very thin layer of emulsion on top of the negative because if you look at the surface the image is positive but when you look through it with a light you see a very faint negative.
I think I may be underexposing during re-exposure but I'm not sure.
Did you bleach away the first negative?
@@MichaelCarter I did not because it said supposedly the new stock doesn't require a heavy bleach. but I'll give it a shot anyway. Should the film look blank again after bleaching?
only bleah after the first developer. do not bleach after reexposing
@@MichaelCarter I don't remember because it's been awhile since I tried the bleach but I may have bleached after re-exposure.
When I try another test strip I'll let you know the results.
Thanks for the help.
I started a FB group called Home movie film lab. Come on over.
Hi Michael, do you get an extra 6 to 10 feet because you load in the dark? In other words, can fomapan be threaded in subdued light with the sacrifice of those 6 to 10 feet? Hope that makes sense. Or is it simply not possible to expose the new spool to any light at any time (other than through the lens/shutter in camera).
Total black is needed not to fog the film. Yes, more film is had that way. The medium sized LOMO tank must then be used.
What are you using for lubricating the film. I´m scared to mess up it with the wrong stuff. Weapons oil?
Orbansky sells Film Renew
Mr. Carter. If I understand correctly, the développer can be reused. How often can it be reused and do you add additional time to each development as the chemistry is used repeatedly? Also, do you ever presoak the film before the first development?1
Pre-soaking is done lately or nowadays. Yes. The first developer is saved and used for the second developer. That is LQR. Then it is dumped out. If I use D-94 and D-95 the developers are saved and refreshed according to the instructions up to the original volume.
Michael Carter Thank very much.
How do you slice the two halves of the film roll?
To cut the double 8 mm film into just actual 8mm you have to buy this circle thing that has a blade in it and you just pull the film inside of it till your done.
There pretty cheap to get.
What kind of light should be used during mounting the film in the spiral developing tank?
+sazawal sorry, I laugh because I so totally failed that. There is no kind or amount of light that can be used.
I'd like to develop my fomapan R100 reg 8 film!
Where can I get developing kit?
What was the length of your film? Double 8mm 25ft spool?
Yes, 33 feet Foma normal box of film
Click on my name to see lots of other videos.
can you please tell me were to find that paper scheme?

Can Fomapan R100 be spliced with film cement? I can't find clear information on what the film base is.
+Sammy yes. My roll #3 of it was slit, leader was added, and it was projected. I use a Bolex splicers and film cement.
+Sammy here is the link to reel three complete.

Great, thank you. I just bought a Bolex RX4 and some editing equipment. I'm really excited about getting started, and I love the look of Fomapan.
I want to process super8 Tri-x 7266. Is the same way to develop ?
I mean can l use same chemistry?
Test, test, test, look on Facebook for 7266 a group exists that I started. D94 at 2 min, but LQR should also work
Michael Carter thanks a lot!! Can I ask what is LQR...? This is first time and I’m super beginner....
@@771anaka4 LQR is a Foma developer and sold by Freestyle in the USA
Link to the 100' spiral tank please.
I have not used the 100 foot spiral tank yet. Foma will not sell me 100 foot rolls.

Have you done it as a negative? My results are not very good.
Yes, negative is possible, I have posted about it, somewhere...

Bleach first in darkness, clear, expose, develop neg, print or scan.

I don't have the chemo from the Foma kit, What else can I use?
