I couldn’t stop smiling throughout the length of this lovely video showcasing our rich food culture and traditions of our Meitei community of Manipur. Thank you Delhi Food Walks and Living Manipur.
Even though I am a Meitei, I spent most of my formative years outside and so I didn't know about my own culture in deep detail. After watching this series, I am just blown back by the details! Just the way you are supposed to eat the food in a specific order. Like you have the alkaline food before you have the acidic food. It's almost like a Japanese sushi restaurant, where they slowly build up the meal in a particular order. There's nothing random. Everything has a place and a purpose.

This video recalls my childhood in Imphal. The rented house in Uripok where I grew up had a Mandop with a temple adjacent to it. Everyday our owner whom we called idhou(grandfather) who was also a Brahmin used to prepare food like rice, dal, vegetables for bhog which was served on daily basis to God.We too received the bhog on daily basis. I do remember on some special occassions or festivals we were invited to have food in the Mandop area. During Kang(Rathyatra) we used to have khichdi, uti, and many more items in the evening after pulling the Rath(chariot). Uti(both green and chickpeas) and pakoda mahi(gravy) were my favourite. On some special occassions we also had dry malpua which was usually thick but very tasty along with ladoos. It has been almost 28 years since I am away from Imphal but the taste of the food is still in my tounge.
I have taken lunch there with my Meitei friends several times during my stay in Manipur University.Very tasty and healthy.Manipur is like my 2nd motherland. Love ❤️ from Assam.
Next time you must try vegetarian feast, prasad prepared in temple. You will find lots of vegetarian dishes there. That will be another experience. Thank u very much for exploring Manipur.
This is the beauty of Meitei Community and its culture in Manipur😍. Foods are no match it has such a unique taste and nobody would ever regret it and will never forget 😋😋.
Thats one difference of many between Hindus of north and east India. For east Indians fish is part of our culture and is also considered symbol of plentiful and auspiciousness.
Hinduism ain't like Christianity or Islam Actually only few principles are same everywhere among hindus but they are largely influenced by their culture and nature worshipping thing. Hindus from north and south have day night difference among them too even their main festivals too.

Lovely! Hindu living is so simple and elegant. Everywhere they're the same. That salt in the end though, oh God, how attentive to cleanliness. I wish the same cleanliness was followed outside the temple aswell.
Awesome Anubhav ji! You have set a standard to other food vloggers!! Your keenness to adapt and adopt the cultural differences and integrate them in your videos is an exception.
