Nowadays, you’d use The Black Goat Laughs. Flip it and name a monster to prevent that monster from being summoned that turn, or banish it and name a monster to prevent that monster’s effects from being activated that turn.
I mean... not really... it's just a slower Prohibition IMO. Sure, it does banish the monster if/when it's summoned, but it's also a trap card, hence slower, and limits itself to monsters, while Prohibition can target anything. They're both equally vulnerable to backrow removal too.
The thing is, Cloak and Dagger wasn't good back then either. As it's been said, why use it when Prohibition exists? Cloak and Dagger is just plain inferior to it and has been back then too.
Imagine they bring back "Remove from play" as an effect even beyond banishing Like, you just have to take the card out of the deck and away from the game and NOTHING can touch it or bring it back
That's pretty much what banishing face-down is. It's almost impossible to access afterward and the cards banished itself can't activate any effects or do anything. Only very few cards can actually interact with them at all (dis pater's effect which targets ANY banished card from either player's banishment, or Ariseheart which also targets any banished card) but even then don't usually do anything too much to directly access it as a resource.
@TylerTyyangThe only use I've seen for a card that's been banished face down is something like Gren Maju. And that's still not going to be able to give you the ability to actually USE those cards anymore, they only benefit that effect by just existing in that zone.

D.D. Warrior Lady being light also didn't hurt her chances of being included in decks that used Chaos monsters, as her 1500 attack was just low enough to be pulled out of the deck with Sangan and Shining Angel. A monster that had either 1500 or less ATK or 1500 DEF was a big deal back in early days because of Witch of the Black Forest and Sangan, plus 1500 or less attack played nice with the Mystic Tomato-type recruiters (Giant Rat, Shining Angel, etc).
Funnily enough another expensive children’s card game Cardfight Vanguard did the same thing. They introduced a new area of play called the “Bind Zone” which was supposed to be where cards were no longer usable but it kind of became a second discard pile. They then introduced a new zone call “Removed from Game” which did what it said

D.D. Warrior Lady is definitely the best of the D.D. warriors, with Assailant also being not terrible, with his effect where the banish triggers exclusively if he's destroyed by battle.

Tell me what you think of this concept. During the Arc-V era I came up with an archetype called Hybrid Vampyrs which were monsters that looks like someone fused vampires with other monsters. One monster that I call Hybrid Vampyr Fallen Angel had a Pendulum scale of 3 and a Pendulum Effect that made it so you couldn't Pendulum Summon from the Extra Deck, but you could Pendulum Summon Hybrid Vampyrs from the Graveyard. And one monster called Hybrid Vampyr Gravedigger sent the top three cards from the deck to the graveyard upon being Normal Summoned. Would these be Banned, Limited, Semi-Limited, or Unlimited in your opinions?
Can’t wait until you can start stuffing cards into your opponent’s side deck and inevitably getting an archetype afterwards that can access said side deck.
Funnily enough, Magic does that already with "Wishes." In casual settings, it's as the card reads 'get this card from outside the game,' but the official ruling for organized play is that you must get the card from your side deck - in Commander there is no side deck, so wishes are not legal cards for some stupid reason. One of these cards effectively reads "Summon every Eldrazi monster you own from outside the deck"
I miss the old banishment/ remove from play mechanic, where it really did mean "no, that card is GONE now" and would like to see it make some sort of comeback rather then effectivly just being a different graveyard for some archetypes Almost like some archetype that also totally lies about "normal summons"
I get you, but that's what banished face-down is for. Honestly, I think its fine. It's not like we're just fetching any random banished thing, generally if you Banish something you're getting back, it's because it's intended as part of that strategy. It's not like someone Called By The Graves your Maxx C and you just grab it back. Usually irs "a card banished by this effect." So it's really just for mechanical/flavor reasons, like Ghoti.

A list of cards that restrict movement normally like the GB Hunter and Chaos Hunter...maybe....a Hunter List?
Tjanks for giving me more card that can banish really helpful fpr my kashtira 😂😂😂😂
@ Haha, beautiful.
Finally kycoo in a video 🥰
30 mins of sleep ASMR
Cloak was released on 07 not 02 and the Monarch structure deck was not released in 04
We're back to introductions.
Can karma cut trigger fable's monster effect?
Can You do a top 10 worst monsters with 3000 ATK
Top 10 cards better in real life than in the animr/manga
Did you know kycoo mask is a zuko reference
I miss the old banishment/ remove from play mechanic, where it really did mean "no, that card is GONE now" and would like to see it make some sort of comeback rather then effectivly just being a different graveyard for some archetypes
Almost like some archetype that also totally lies about "normal summons"
I get you, but that's what banished face-down is for. Honestly, I think its fine. It's not like we're just fetching any random banished thing, generally if you Banish something you're getting back, it's because it's intended as part of that strategy. It's not like someone Called By The Graves your Maxx C and you just grab it back. Usually irs "a card banished by this effect." So it's really just for mechanical/flavor reasons, like Ghoti.

Never seen anyone play cloak and dagger in DL
Need Grepher/Warrior Lady retrains into a shared archetype
Talking about banish,
Why dont "Top 10 cards you AVOID to Banish" ?
That situation kinda rarely happens when you are targeting facedown or randomly banish from hand (Like Frame Omega effects)
Top 10 cards that treat their name as something other than their original name.
I am surprise gren majin not on the list?
He doesn’t banish. He only benefits from banished cards.
@@enlongjones2394 but that still related to banish cause he gets power up from banish. thats why banish deck is so good due to gren majin. but u do have a point I just notice the title removed from play cards. okay i should had said mabe best top 10 support remove banish cards lol
I think you made a mistake, Necroface is a zombie-type, so Dark Necrofear could not banish it for summon ?)
Top ten turtles in Yu-Gi-Oh
Our chaos, emperor dragon got rob 😢 of his crown.
Top 10 cards ruined by their types or attributes:
Berserk Gorilla: not LIGHT or DARK for Chaos
Lib the World Key Blademaster: not DARK for Orcust
Tearlaments Kashtira: not Aqua for Kaleidoheart
Mermail Abyssteus: not Sea Serpent for Dragoons
Those 4 immediately come to mind
Top 10 Worst classic cards 7: Ancient Sanctuary, or Top 10 Worst Warrior type monsters. Or Worst monsters that cannot be normal summoned or set
For the non top 10 list: The Unknown side of Yu-Gi-Oh: Beasts of the Colliseum featuring Gladiator Beasts
Necrofear banishes fiends for a cost and Necroface is a Zombie so that play is not valid sadly.
I missed when it was called “removed form play”, I dunno “banished” doesn’t have the same ring to it, I like in old school Yugioh anime when players had to “remove from play” cards they usually put the cards in the pocket as duel disks did not have a “remove from play” zone lol 😂😂
No Soul Release?
That one’s great for how versatile it is.
Someone from my locals is taking Helios turbo to YCS Birmingham
Feature match please🙏
Challenge: fall asleep in less than 32 minutes and 45 seconds
22:30 Well of course nobody actually uses Nobleman of Crossout in the anime, nobody ever sets their monsters in the anime!
Don't forget Dimensional Prison
any yugioh fans in chat
Yeah here 🤚
I'm a FFTA fan
Wrong chat
Old school fan
nah
I honestly use the term, removed from play a lot more than the other term....I refuse to use it when it comes to Yu-Gi-Oh
Necroface cannot be banished to summon Dark Necrofear. It's a zombie, not a fiend.
Even maliss threat banish card like not big deal and potentially become tier 0 deck and way more dangerous then konami waifu sky striker. Dimensional shifter? Maliss deck no problem and thank you for the dimensionsal shifter. Don't release Maliss early to Masterduel during Masterduel 3rd anniversary
Strike of Neos was 2007, not 2002
Isn't Cloak and Dagger just another Prohibition?
no, it stops summons
You can't use Necroface as cost for Necrofear. Necroface is a Zombie. Not a Fiend.
Disappointed that Bottomless Traphole isnt here.
...but in DUEL LINKS!
Video gets a thumbs down with that ad in the end.
I would always use kycoo
Caius isn't in goat REEEEEEEE
He defines "classic" as pre-Synchro, not just Goat.
no bottomless trap hole😂
Ayo what would have in an in person game if you asked to look at a card and then just ripped it up right in front of them? And don't say you'd start a fight cause we all know you aren't getting an assault charge for a Yu-Gi-Oh card
Pretty sure karma cut doesn't work on alternative. It checks the name when it's banished so it doesn't banish anything else. Same for Harpie ladies. Unless you target the numbered harpy ladies or cyber Harpie lady (because they name is always treated as "Harpie lady "), you will only be banishing the on field target.
The intro is so boring. You should get rid of it and go straight to cards list. This is so unusual
Finallly👍
The virgin "banish all face up divine beast monsters your opponents control"
Vs the Chad "remove all god cards from play"
