But not sure why they put the NZ flag next to his name not the US one.
The most unrealistic thing is that one of those cars from the mid-70s is supposed to have taken pole in 1:15.259. A time worthy of the V10s of the mid-2000s.
The freaking finger snap was indeed the worst thing I had seen from Marvel up to that point and THAT actually made me abandon Marvel movies. I could complain about that thing and how nonsensical even the idea behind it was for hours...
There's another thing I noted immediately when I first saw that scene. Most F1 cars of that time had the pedals very close or downright in front of the front axle. Whiplash cut the car some distance behind the wheels, yet Stark didn't get his feet chopped off. The production was really kind with them and they get ticket to watch it before everybody but also get a free DVD when it was released. And ofc get some time with actors etc. It was shoot at the morning, around 6 am if I remember right.

5:12 Greg Locke is NOT an official Cars character. He is a fan-made character made for the Piston Cup Wiki in 2018 and his lore was remade many times (only death part was stayed from the OG lore). BUT his son Lane Locke is an actual Cars character, who appeared in Cars 3 as a SynerG Stock Car and was replaced by Eric Braker (Next Gen SynerG racer). Cars 3 were released after Ironman 2 tho. Also I think you have most likely discovered Greg Locke in Piston Cup wiki and I am one of the editors there.
Considering last year Martins in F2 almost ran over a marshal because race direction though double-yellow was enough for marshals to work on a car that was laying crossing over almost the entire track width just behind a blind corner, the marshaling standard doesn't seem that far off to me lmao
"Regularity" here refers to regularity rally or TSD (time, speed, distance) rally--also referred to as Road Rally in the US's SCCA. This means you don't need much racing experience at all to participate in the Monaco Historic
I thought that. He enters the track at Casino/Massenet. So the only slow speed corner is really the Lowes hairpin if you follow the track layout as you could straight line the chicane at the end of the tunnel. Whereas going the way he went, you have to deal with Saint Devote, Anthony Nogues, Rascasse etc. All whilst avoiding oncoming traffic in a 2.5tonne Phantom!
for proper preperations, it's always a good idea to prepare both, a Marshal uniform (in case you want to go that route and no, just because your name is on it doesn't mean, that you've undercone training. The uniforms are probably not gonna be a secret until the race anyway) and take a ticket with you (in case you go in as a visitor). Might even be an idea to prepare to play a reporter or a security as well, just to have as many options as possible.
The sequence from 9:25 - 10:53 is genuinely one of the funniest things I've ever seen on YT. The delivery is so perfect and the more you think about the context of it all, the more hilarious it becomes. I just imagine the 'dodgy Russian bloke' tuning into the broadcast to check on the mission progress only to end up screaming at the TV in utter confusion 'WHY HAVE YOU BECOME A MARSHAL?!'

And that's not to mention spare parts, and mechanics who know a 50 year old custom racing car that only a single digit number of examples were ever made of.
What people forget is that it’s Tony flipping Stark. Him taking part puts emphasis on his power and ability. He could have literally taken part in the actual GP and people in that universe would act the same. He is known to be Iron man, who is both faster and deals with more G force than a normal F1 car. It’s no different that Stroll getting a seat, except Stark is more capable.

Official Supplementary Regulations of Grand Prix de Monaco Historique states: 1) "All Drivers must have completed at least three timed laps to be allowed to start the race"... 2) "However, the Stewards, upon receiving a written request from the concerned Competitor and after consulting the Clerk of the Course, may, under exceptional circumstances, authorize the designated Driver to start their race." 3) "Any Driver qualified in this manner will be placed at the back of the starting grid, after the application of any other penalties."
It's crazy how much effort was put in to make it seem more sophisticated and realistic while simultaneously making less sense than the simpler explanation.

80 is NOT the entry fee for drivers. It is the cost of the license required to race IF you don't already have the proper license.

It's crazy how much effort was put in to make it seem more sophisticated and realistic while simultaneously making less sense than the simpler explanation.

Sometimes you have to turn of your brain for a moment and enjoy the movie. Some things are ridiculous, but the guy managing to disguise as a marshall is not so crazy to imagine. You have the right skills, the right connections and it's done.

THANK YOU!!!! I'm not a fan of comics or comic book movies, but I actually liked the first Iron Man just as a good movie. So you can imagine how quickly I lost it on this movie with the F1 scenes - so nobody has radios in this universe?!?!?!
Radios in F1 cars weren't introduced until the mid-1980s. As mentioned in the video, the cars taking part had to be the same as they were when racing and these were mid '70s cars
