I walk to work, and every spring there was one lonely owl... Calling for a mate that never comes.
Nothing is left of the woods and forests, except narrow green belts that are supposed to make us feel like we live in the wilds. I once saw it, flying silently over my head barely a dozen feet above the ground, having given up on a mouse that escaped him or her by hiding behind the trash can at my store. I turned, and it was there, looking back from a tree.
What was profound for me, meant little to it. The next year, development wiped out almost everything that was left of the woods around my place of work. Two years later... And I still miss that hoot. But it's gone, and will never come back. There is nothing for it to come back to.
My life is lesser for knowing that.

Get out away from the trash cities and there are millions of acres of forest my good man (unless you live in the desert or something lol). So much you need more than a day to get through it. Go find it. Embrace your pioneer and weep no more for that lonely owl that was just on its way to a new home in a big forest out of the smelly broken city.
@@forester057 When i was a child of seven or eight, I used to go visit m cousins in Dallas, Texas in the Summer. That was in the '50s. If we needed something from Dallas, it was twenty minutes West of us- the little community they lived in was only a few thousand and surrounded by farm lands and woods. By the end of the '70s, the "little community had become a small city of 25 K and when you drove out the West side of it, you were in Dallas, houses and businesses all over. The woods, east of it were still there, but thirty to forty minutes away. By the '90s, That "little community" had become a city in it's own right, had 40+K citizens, and was surrounded by neighboring communities. The woods were more like an hour away.. Maybe it would be easier to just have you look at a satellite night time view of most of America at night to really grasp what Mary's song is about. Maybe you won't get it even then- you will never hear the song. Brilliant, my man, just freakin' brilliant.

The song reminds of the times when I was a field archaeologist doing survey or excavation in the Deserts and hills. When one stopped and held ones breath, one could hear all the sounds around you, from the birds to the lizards to insects and small animals. Just standing there and listening you could feel touch of Nature, God or whatever you want to call it.

Very attractive young woman, very talented artist, but please ask whoever is holding the camera to please get off the tricycle while they are filming. Watching you sing and play is as enjoyable as listening to your voice. This is a video that I played again just to listen. The camera just moved around too much to watch.
