Even worse, even food from some factories with high reputations might be dangerous. Because they have such a high reputation, the loose food laws may allow them to pass without even checking.

The beginning of the mushroom part is pretty wrong. You can tell the difference between the portabella mushroom and bolete mushroom in many ways. The portabella is a rounded, white to Brown mushroom that is well known for being the most commonly sold mushroom. The bolete on the other hand, is an entirely different species. They vary in many different colors, from dull grays and whites, to neon reds. They vary in many parts, but the one way to identify a bolete is its underside. Instead of gills, it has a mass of spongy pores. The bolete mushrooms have a few edible subspecies, but for the most part, they are either inedible, or come with gastrointestinal issues. The edible ones are also described by many to taste like boogers. So be careful with boletes.

I'm very cautious with my food purchases, be it foreign or domestic, at my age, I've experienced the various evolution's that our food has gone through over the years.
We discuss this on occasion, remembering, with longing, how fruits and vegetables, by comparison, don't taste like those items did in years gone by.
Food, in some instances, with the increased amounts of contaminants, pollution we have to contend with, at this point, our food can be....dangerous, foreign or domestic.
There are unscrupulous practices from our food sources, to our "breakfast", "lunch" or "dinner" plates, foreign or domestic.
Thank you for the information relating to China's food imports, however we are being very cautious of our food and drink across the board, foreign or domestic !! (scary ain't it ?!!)

I once heard "cheap food does not exist". If it is cheap there is something in the back door that squeezes the costs, and it is never a good practice to squeeze costs when it comes to food safety and health.
