I’m judging everyone😅. I went ahead and ordered the cases from Apple. The fact that some of these companies charge so much, makes the Apple case more appealing. Also, Smartish has the little slit and the case costs 30 bucks CDN. If Mous wants to charge about a 100 bucks CDN and the case comes with a huge cutout, that is being lazy.
I get it. Everyone is going to have their own opinion and how they feel and that’s cool. If the cutout isn’t that large , I’m fine with it. I feel people are making a big deal from a button they hardly ever going to use.
Completely understand the case manufacturers from a business perspective, however, unless it covers the button, I won’t buy it. Already have the Apple case in the meantime, so I’ll be patient until there’s more options.

I know you’re a parent as well and as such, you take a lot of pictures. For a $20 case, it’s excusable but for $100 bucks? I seem to recall someone from ‘Moment’ was asked on Reddit and said the majority of case sales were in the first 8 weeks or something. It’s expensive to retool machines and produce a run of cases and I guess they would sell close to zero cases for older phones.
Apple made their camera control button sound fancy, however, capacitive touch buttons are not rocket science. I fully expect there to be plenty of options within one or two months.
So go out and buy a $50-$70 case in hopes they fix it after……yeah no thanks. Stand on your word brother these is not how to do it. You don’t charge the same price or more and just leave a cut out. There’s a reason Apple used the sapphire and everyone should follow suit or at the least do what SUP did but we don’t even know how that’s gonna work yet. This video tells us to buy Apple and wait until the competition catches up.
It’s sneaky af but it will definitely work. There are rumors that Apple plans to switch all buttons to being capacitive, and I’m sure Apple’s going to have a case that works perfectly with it.
As much as I want my button covered I just can’t justify spending the money on an Apple case. I’ve had plenty of them in the past, and they just don’t have great durability and end up looking bad after a short while. I’d rather spend the money towards a case that uses a hole that’s designed well than to have to buy another case in like 6 months 🤷🏽 but that’s just me

Bought a Mous case and apple silicone case to try once 16 pro gets here. My main complaint with the cutout on the mous is it is right where my had sits when I’m holding the phone with one hand. Hoping I don’t accidentally click the camera button while scrolling.
I hope that once the brands get their devices on hand, that they all can figure out how incorporate the button onto their cases instead of the cutout. As a side-hope, I would LOVE to see more red versions of their cases as well!
I completely understand the R and D process these and all companies go through. I think Mous in specific did what they thought is best and it will most likely give you effortless full access and control to the button, doesn’t mean I have to like it but I get it. But if I use a case with a huge case cut out like that I would honestly rather use one of the minimal cases with the six cut outs lol or just a magnetic back case. But we do need to wait for the phone and revisions because of new design. I’m here for it. 💪 great video and update as always.

I think mous might of did it right besides the ones with actual buttons, it gives full access to the button and everything without catching a finger or something

If they’d state that, I’d get the Mous now and happily wait a couple months. But without hearing that from them, I’m trying other options. As for the issue of the camera button being activated in a pocket, I guess we’ll have to wait and see. But if Apple has button covered, you have to think it’s not an issue.
I think the cutout is probably for the best, giving you access to slide your finger. My question is, will they replace your case for free if they make a revision? Or will you have to pay full price for another?

I’ve been an apple silicon guy for years and I actually gave in and bought a Mous case 6.0! I think the cut out is going to make it very comfortable in hand and also let everyone know YOU have the new 16 pro max!! Excited for launch day tomorrow! My Apple Store appointment is at 12!!!
Yes but they charge a high premium, I think I will go with the apple brand case until tis properly supported. If they gave you an option for a free trade in when they update the case then that would be different.
I think the main problem is that companies making cases want to be in at the start. That means the customer ends up being something of a 'beta tester' for them and may end up buying a product that may very quickly be replaced by a better one. We've seen this before where brands have made cases with large cut-outs at the bottom, only to fill them in on a later version. I get that they need to have their part of the market but I feel more sorry for the people buying an early product, who discovers a few weeks later, that the case has been improved dramatically and often for the same price.
Appreciate the consistent videos. Only a few days left till the phone drops. Got some cases to play it safe and protected on say 1 but I’m waiting on some brands to see what they do. Look forward to the next video. Thanks for doing what you do.
I don't have an issue with the cutout either. I think people are making too much of nothing a lot like the action button last year. I already have three cases for my upcoming 16 Pro Max, one has the full cut out which is my and our Aspen and the others have the cut out within the frame like Pegan has done because that's one of the cases, nomad. It is the over one.
I 100% agree with "let’s wait and see." Also, remember track records. Apple‘s cases are notorious for not lasting and not providing good protection. They also put glass in the cases, sheesh. Aren’t cases supposed to make them more durable, not less?

For years Apple was told how terrible and overpriced their cases are. The FineWovens were scratched badly at every single Apple Store after the Social Media war against this material started (I used the black one for one year and it was the best case I ever had). And now … the Silicone Cases are the best option you have at the moment. Not only the camera control works perfectly, the build quality is much better than before (mine doesn’t have any molding line) and the coating is new (less lint and fingerprints). This was a clever move from Apple 😊
I’m just going to say this, the button is there for easy access. It’s not awful I think Apple did it correctly, the cutout on mous and other cases not the best idea. I wouldn’t mind a small button cut out but hopefully companies fix this. Tee just saying you need to speak to caudabe, they are my favorite case and would love to see them follow possible the apple silicone case path. I think they did a good job and will still order the synthesis but I’d love to see a cover at least or like rhinosheild the option of a button.
Thank you for this video. I have a lot of respect for you, even before this video. Now I just have that much more. I don't know what it takes to make a phone case, so I would never want to point the finger and call any manufacturer lazy for making a design choice. I just know that based on my own taste and what I look for in a case, I can't imagine me having a case that has a cutout for Camera Control. My main reason being that I don't want dust and dirt getting in there like it does for the speakers and charging port. It's the same reason why I don't like case buttons with slits. Of course, I don't go for the maximum protection cases. I go for those that offer some protection. I've been using the Pitaka MagEZ Pro Case 4 with my iPhone 15 Pro Max for the past year. Unfortunately, because Pitaka opted to go the cutout route for Camera Control, I won't be using the equivalent case for the iPhone 16 Pro Max unless they make a revision.
Previous Apple silicone cases have been some of the most protective in drop testing, but durability leaves a lot to be desired as the material tends to start coming off after a few to 6 months of putting and pulling out of jean pockets. I would place a bet that dropping the Mous case on a closet rack edge or cupboard handle where the cutout is would wreck the phone vs the same drop in the Apple silicone or Otterbox Lumen…
The Apple silicone case on the iPhone 16 pro max feels gritty. I have had mine on all day since I got this phone this morning (Australia). It collects dust, fluffy like crazy. I will be getting something different as soon as possible. But defiantly without the cut-out.
Personally, I don't have an issue with the cut outs. Will it be within the frame of the case or an open cut out. We went through the same nonsense last year with the action button and honestly, it got silly to the point of stupid. If you don't like it then wait if it doesn't bother you then what's the problem?
I bought the SupCase UB Grip case before I saw the previous video and we'll see how it goes with the button and if I even wanna use my index finger instead of my thumb for the camera.
I totally get it being a business decision but it’s also my decision to not buy their cases until it covers my whole phone. They also know they had to risk it for a return - totally on them on risking it or not. They will still probably get my money but not until they iterate the design to cover the whole phone. I just wish I had a Mous on my phone from day one.
Well my take still stands used a mous case on every phone for last 3-4 years but unless they sort there case out, I will not use them. While they are still very protective that cut out is horrible. Am willing to buy one if they change the cutout to at least a little hole but for now no mous for me
I think just the opposite. I have a Mous case for my iPhone and love it. I think Mous is taking the one approach that's guaranteed to work with the camera button.
I think the issue with the Mous case, and this is going to echo a lot of comments that have already been made but I’m chiming in so they will hopefully see how widespread the disdain for their specific design choice is, is a combination of how oversized the cutout is with the very high premium they charge for their cases. Even *IF* they were to do a revision, I am absolutely NOT about to drop $80 USD on what is supposed to be a drop-proof case that has that much of the side fully exposed just to turn around and have to spend ANOTHER $80 USD *IF* they decide to address it. I’m perfectly fine with cases that have a hole cut for the capacitive button, but having half the side of the case missing is a deal breaker at $40 dollars, let alone $80.
Tee bringing more fire! I personally think the control button needs to be covered; the brands should be able to figure it out. To your point, the Apple case isn't a top tier case by any means and other brands can do better.
Caudabe- cover the button and you will get my money for multiple versions of your cases! I almost want to hold out on getting a 16 Pro Max until Caudabe confirms they will release an updated version that covers the camera cutout with capacitive touch button like the Apple Silicone case.
I second this Caudabe ☝🏼 and please stick to using stronger magnets in your case. The magnets that were in the 14 pro max Sheath are much stronger than the magnets in the 15 pro max Sheath
When I spoke to their customer service they told me that they have no plans on supporting a button for their cases at the moment, they are sticking to the cutout
I think the tiny hole is fine, but the cutout is genuinely a terrible design. If these companies have had demo models to make the new cases for a while, then they should have done hole.
Bought an Apple case to have the button for the launch of the phone when I get the new one. I held off buying any other case hoping that other case brands that I really like and have used for years will come out with something similar as soon as the phone is in their hands to test the solutions. Not a fan of the cutouts but even those could get refined once the brands figure out what kind of cutout is needed to use the button optimally.
Ok… any case that has cutout with a lip along the screen will not work well properly. It OBSCURES the icons! Cases with a cutout with no lip should be fine.
Do testing with the button for each case, when you get the phone I love and always stick to mous case, but this year is the worst one ever and I wouldn't get, if I had the 16. I hope they fix it for the 17 So what case will do a revision? Was hoping the mous was, because it's so terrible
if mous can integrate a solution similar to apple or supcase, then I will get a case from them as my daily driver. I love dbrand cases, but mous ones are a bit more comfortable to hold so they've been my "go-to" for years on many phones.

You’re right, it’s hard to know just exactly what kind of phone you’ll be covering with a case of you don’t have the actual product or prototype to mold your case around. We saw this last year with the action button on the 15 Pro models. Most cases, if not all of them, didn’t have the button to cover the action button on the phone, but most case companies have made those revisions down the line by putting out new cases on the market, issuing out new case buttons, or both. Some people are going to like the cutout for the 16s and keep them as they are, and some people will use those cases to hold them over until a more desirable case comes out for them. If I were upgrading, I’d be one of the people to get a good enough case to hold me over until a case with a more desirable revision came out. But I’m not going to call out these companies for being “lazy” about how they made their cutout. You’re right. They put in so much time to put something out with the material and information they had on the 16, and they did their best with it.
I’ll probably get the Spigen clear case for now and go back to Mous once they fix the large cutout. I’m totally fine with a small hole for the button. I love my Mous case a bunch but I can’t trust the massive bite out of the case especially for how expensive both my phone and their cases cost. I trust they’ll do a great job with the redesign so I’m willing to wait!
Just got my Caudabe Synthesis 16 pro max case in the mail and it’s a beauty. The camera control button is a cutout perfectly oblong oval and is concave. Looks tight. No big ugly cut out like Mous.
This feels like a marketing tactic. Redesign sounds good but it’s not like they will replace them free of charge. We will be 150+ dollars deep just by buying one and then the redesigned version. Tee we will REALLY need your help this time around!

Yeah I think I we will see some changes coming up here soon with cases. Brands have to do the best they can and I don’t think people realize that.

The cut out maybe important because when it’s your pocket the camera isn’t activated but mous is great company. They will update if needed.

Unfortunately I had to go w the silicon apple case due to this button. Eventually the third parties will catch up.
The Apple silicone case may not have long term durability but it'll last me long enough for third party cases to perform their needed redesigns.
Unbelievable chess move by Apple, All the usual brands went all out and designed their cases without testing a real iPhone.

For bulkier cases a dedicated button will probably be the best. But I did decided to get a minimal case with the cutout.

Of course, I don't go for the maximum protection cases. I go for those that offer some protection. I've been using the Pitaka MagEZ Pro Case 4 with my iPhone 15 Pro Max for the past year. Unfortunately, because Pitaka opted to go the cutout route for Camera Control, I won't be using the equivalent case for the iPhone 16 Pro Max unless they make a revision.
Previous Apple silicone cases have been some of the most protective in drop testing, but durability leaves a lot to be desired as the material tends to start coming off after a few to 6 months of putting and pulling out of jean pockets. I would place a bet that dropping the Mous case on a closet rack edge or cupboard handle where the cutout is would wreck the phone vs the same drop in the Apple silicone or Otterbox Lumen…
The Apple silicone case on the iPhone 16 pro max feels gritty. I have had mine on all day since I got this phone this morning (Australia). It collects dust, fluffy like crazy. I will be getting something different as soon as possible. But defiantly without the cut-out.
Personally, I don't have an issue with the cut outs. Will it be within the frame of the case or an open cut out. We went through the same nonsense last year with the action button and honestly, it got silly to the point of stupid. If you don't like it then wait if it doesn't bother you then what's the problem?

I’m returning my MOUS case because of the massive cutout design and lack of TPE on the long sides inside the case.
I bought the SupCase UB Grip case before I saw the previous video and we'll see how it goes with the button and if I even wanna use my index finger instead of my thumb for the camera.

I totally get it being a business decision but it’s also my decision to not buy their cases until it covers my whole phone. They also know they had to risk it for a return - totally on them on risking it or not. They will still probably get my money but not until they iterate the design to cover the whole phone. I just wish I had a Mous on my phone from day one.
Well my take still stands used a mous case on every phone for last 3-4 years but unless they sort there case out, I will not use them. While they are still very protective that cut out is horrible. Am willing to buy one if they change the cutout to at least a little hole but for now no mous for me
I think just the opposite. I have a Mous case for my iPhone and love it. I think Mous is taking the one approach that's guaranteed to work with the camera button.

I think the issue with the Mous case, and this is going to echo a lot of comments that have already been made but I’m chiming in so they will hopefully see how widespread the disdain for their specific design choice is, is a combination of how oversized the cutout is with the very high premium they charge for their cases. Even *IF* they were to do a revision, I am absolutely NOT about to drop $80 USD on what is supposed to be a drop-proof case that has that much of the side fully exposed just to turn around and have to spend ANOTHER $80 USD *IF* they decide to address it. I’m perfectly fine with cases that have a hole cut for the capacitive button, but having half the side of the case missing is a deal breaker at $40 dollars, let alone $80.

Tee bringing more fire! I personally think the control button needs to be covered; the brands should be able to figure it out. To your point, the Apple case isn't a top tier case by any means and other brands can do better.

Caudabe- cover the button and you will get my money for multiple versions of your cases! I almost want to hold out on getting a 16 Pro Max until Caudabe confirms they will release an updated version that covers the camera cutout with capacitive touch button like the Apple Silicone case.
I second this Caudabe ☝🏼 and please stick to using stronger magnets in your case. The magnets that were in the 14 pro max Sheath are much stronger than the magnets in the 15 pro max Sheath
When I spoke to their customer service they told me that they have no plans on supporting a button for their cases at the moment, they are sticking to the cutout

I think the tiny hole is fine, but the cutout is genuinely a terrible design. If these companies have had demo models to make the new cases for a while, then they should have done hole.

Bought an Apple case to have the button for the launch of the phone when I get the new one. I held off buying any other case hoping that other case brands that I really like and have used for years will come out with something similar as soon as the phone is in their hands to test the solutions. Not a fan of the cutouts but even those could get refined once the brands figure out what kind of cutout is needed to use the button optimally.
Ok… any case that has cutout with a lip along the screen will not work well properly. It OBSCURES the icons!
Cases with a cutout with no lip should be fine.

if mous can integrate a solution similar to apple or supcase, then I will get a case from them as my daily driver. I love dbrand cases, but mous ones are a bit more comfortable to hold so they've been my "go-to" for years on many phones.

I ordered a synthesis and Paragon from Caudabe for my iPhone 16 Pro.
You’re right, it’s hard to know just exactly what kind of phone you’ll be covering with a case of you don’t have the actual product or prototype to mold your case around. We saw this last year with the action button on the 15 Pro models. Most cases, if not all of them, didn’t have the button to cover the action button on the phone, but most case companies have made those revisions down the line by putting out new cases on the market, issuing out new case buttons, or both. Some people are going to like the cutout for the 16s and keep them as they are, and some people will use those cases to hold them over until a more desirable case comes out for them. If I were upgrading, I’d be one of the people to get a good enough case to hold me over until a case with a more desirable revision came out. But I’m not going to call out these companies for being “lazy” about how they made their cutout. You’re right. They put in so much time to put something out with the material and information they had on the 16, and they did their best with it.

The big cut out is the reason I’m returning my OtterBox defender XT case. I went with a Supcase / Spigen case with the camera control button.
This will be the year that I START with a Silicone case. We’ll see what happens. Keep in mind the Apple case comes with a warranty
I’ll probably get the Spigen clear case for now and go back to Mous once they fix the large cutout. I’m totally fine with a small hole for the button. I love my Mous case a bunch but I can’t trust the massive bite out of the case especially for how expensive both my phone and their cases cost. I trust they’ll do a great job with the redesign so I’m willing to wait!

Just got my Caudabe Synthesis 16 pro max case in the mail and it’s a beauty. The camera control button is a cutout perfectly oblong oval and is concave. Looks tight. No big ugly cut out like Mous.
