    Oh no Rick... could feel your disappointment when the GTV surged! 🤦🏻‍♂️
    Nice to see she's back 100% now... Sounds beautiful!👍🏻
    Thankfully my GTV is a CF2 so hopefully no ECU pain although I'm waiting for the day when my GT V6 ECU starts playing up! 🤦🏻‍♂️

    Rick, Just watched your ECU video brilliant mate!
    felt for you when you get the part back praying that the problem is fixed and it happens again!! and the heart sinks when it happens again 😕 ahhh. been there but glad you got it sorted 👍 where would you start looking for a new ECU?? mate I would not have a clue any advice would be appreciated. and I take it my GTV twin spark location of the ECU is different from your model? only getting clued up for the future just in case but any steer in the right direction rick would be appreciated. keep the videos coming mate best gtv channel out there brilliant 👏 regards Rick cheers.

    Big bill but at least you wont have any ECU worries for years to come.

    Also just had my ECU rebuilt about a month ago. Been good as gold so far...🤞. Not sure who did repair as was through my specialist.

    Interesting and informative. I have a 156TS which has so far had no electrical issues, I don't fancy that sort of bill! Incidentally it seems that Alfatune is no more, Gus has retired.

    Glad you got sorted, can you tell me how the remap feels compared to before? I’ve been considering a map from Gus. Cheers

    It's incredible how the ECU on the PH2 V6 is so different compared to the PH1 V6 (which is instead fitted behind the glovebox) - just the size difference is mesmerising (at least double for the PH1), plus a single connector vs two.

    Hello, one question, what temperature does the intake (plenum) get when stopped, because mine gets very hot and this passes it to the ecu. Have you thought about relocating the ecu to another place where it doesn't get so hot.

  • @djlosmi
    @djlosmi 3 года назад +1

    Oh bugger! Could it be that the ECU is overheating being on top of the engine?
    I'm sure I've heard and seen people putting heat shields to prevent ECU on these V6 engines to overheat.
    Nice to see it fixed and all working!

    Hey Rick,
    Would you please tell from where did you purchased the new ECU, and did it needed to be programmed before fitting it into the car ?

  • @ds1868
    @ds1868 3 года назад +4

    Sometimes you've just got to go new. ECU in the engine bay up against the engine not the best idea! On the TS it's tucked away in the cabin behind the glove box!

    Not sure how difficult it would be, but what about trying to relocate the ECU inside the cabin?
    Surely enough, the electronics is not happy to be exposed to all thermal cycles and vibrations being attached straight on the engine 🤔
    Again, probably not a straightforward fix, but it may be worth a try, especially consideting how expensive and rare a brand new unit is....
    P.S. be sure to check the heater matrix inside the cabin first, or have one custom made in copper, as I did! 😅

    hi you have been very helpful to me so i want to say please just check the connection of the throttle body.... you will find it just above the fuses. this used to happen to my gtv v6. just clean the connection.

    What was that squeaking? Brake pedal?

    • @_RicksGarage
      @_RicksGarage  3 года назад

      Haha yes. I was waiting for someone to pickup on that! I just need to put some copper slip behind my front brake pads. I did it the first time I fitted the pads but I had to remove them to rectify an issue with my callipers. I forgot to reapply it the second time. It is on the to-do list

    Throttle body was the first thing i thought! If you want a reputable company to test anything like the ECU then contact ECUtesting.com. we use them regularly with no problems what so ever. Seems like it faulted when the car had warmed up, check absolutely everything before spashing money on a new ECU
    Edit - i should watch the whole video first haha

      Hi, thanks for the comment as always.
      You are correct, the worst of the systems generally came to light after the engine had been running for 5 minutes or so, however, the intermittent flickering of the instrument cluster including the EML light was was always there and becoming worse as time went on. It’s always seemed to be down on power too. Completely different car now.

    Il problema di queste centralie è il fatto che i componente hardware sono incollati e imersi in gel , queste centraline messe su motore prendono tutte le vibrazione del motore e tutto il calore , dopo anni si stacca il condensatore che fa funzionare la farfalla eletronica .Chi ripara queste centraline rincolla il componente ma dura poco perche si ristacca , meglio se il componente viene saldato tranite fili , per lo meno cosi a me funziona ancora , altra soluzione e sostituzione centralina motore mantenendo quella originale per far funzionare il body control interno .
