I enjoyed this. I’m 51 & began motherhood at 40 having 3 children in 2 years (total multitasker 🤦♀️) I do journal & have done for years (I’ve done classes of yours before) but always feel pressured by time & as if I’m wasting it if I’m not being domestically productive & always have “ah what’s the point anyway?, get a job!” So 3 minutes seemed totally doable 🙌🏼 It feels daring to me because I feel I’ve spent all my life in some sort of hiding but journaling prods me to ditch the disguise & that’s scary & also because I’m ignoring the voice that’s telling me I’m wasting my time. Thankyou for the prompt.
Hi Rachel! I so appreciate hearing your story with journal writing and how the 3 minute prompt helped! Sharing your dating, too - that's so powerful! Thank you so much!
This has made me feel so very seen. I purchase all the journal things and have a severe block to start. I believe it is certainly because of the self indulgent and self worth aspect of your message. Thank you. Please let’s all connect and create a super tribe of women over 40.
It felt wonderful to take a break from my day to sit and be with myself for this time with you. I’m sitting on my porch couch and I have you prompt up next to me. I’d love to have a dog snuggling next to me. This was perfect to ground my energy and remind me of the simplicity of this practice. With a pen and paper I can connect to myself and gather back my thoughts and energies. Thank you. ❤
Hi Lisa - I really enjoyed this video and the timed journaling exercise. The prompt helped me unearth (in three minutes!) a held belief that I wasn’t aware of, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since yesterday, which is when I watched this. Thank you!
Oh - that is incredible when that happens! I'm so happy for your discovery. One thing I like to do is the same journal prompt every day for a week or longer, to see what else bubbles up. You can even rewatch the prompt part of the video so you're not doing it alone! I'm so glad you shared your discovery! Thank you!
Oh my goodness. How did the algorithm send you to me? I'm 46, a "baby GenXer," and I did so well with writing Morning Pages in 2023, until an ankle break/surgery/recovery broke the good streak I had going. Now, a year later, my ankle is healed, I'm recovered, and I can't seem to get my 💩 together enough to do more than the bare minimum of anything. Is this a midlife crisis? Don't know, but maybe journaling everyday might help me make sense of it. Anyway, thank you for the prompt, that was a good experience, and you've gained a new subscriber. ❤
@@andreas3330 Welcome "baby GenXer"! I'm SO glad the algorithm sent you my way and really appreciate hearing your story. Thanks for the sub, too! Much appreciation!
Hi Lisa, I do keep a written journal but not a visual journal. I'm sixty three and have been an artist all my life. Every time I've tried to keep a visual journal I haven't managed it because the writing and the imagery just don't seem to gel together. I've always written. My family laughs at me because i've got books and notebooks and paper galore filled with writing. I also use a sketchbook all the time, literally every day. But the two don't come together and i'd really love to work out a way where they do. Doing that three minute prompt I wrote that I think i'm trying to be too literal or illustrative when I try to keep a visual journal. That's the first time i've thought that!
@@juliedrakeArtist Hi Julie - congrats on keeping both written journals and sketchbooks on the regular! Your struggle to combine word and image in a meaningful way is something that is really common. It can help to go more abstract when combining both and see what happens. And if you want help, check out my website link in the description and then navigate to workshops. I love helping people with this challenge!
Lisa, I just LOVED the format of this video!!! The fact that you ran the timer after giving us the prompt was wonderful. It gave me just the little push I needed to open the sketchbook beside me, pick an almost blank page (it had a painted background), and to begin journaling! It was so good, that I replayed the segment of the video with the journaling time so that I could finish writing my thoughts to fill the entire page!!! You should do more videos with journaling prompts and timers like this. LOVED it. I am in my early 50s and am new to visual journaling...thanks to your youtube channel...and am so appreciative of your gentle spirit and willingness to guide us all into a more meaningful way to express ourselves for healing. As for future videos, I'd love more prompts and quotes for inspiration and I always love learning about the art supplies and techniques you share.
❤❤❤ thank you so much for the generous feedback! your response to this video format really reflects my intentions - and it’s wonderful to know there is resonance.
@@blythemountainspirit good to know about the music, as I wasn't sure about it. Especially since I don't journal to music - but it seemed weird to have a long blank space, and I figured people could always mute the audio during that time.
Beginning this journal writing feels daring because … telling the truth is embarrassing. …. I do need to be perfect, don’t I? I prefer “nice speak” which draws a veil of sensitivity, and ease, over what for others would be problem areas. Oh, I do want to mention that is veiling thing is an excellent rationale for lying. I have been honing my skill for years.
@@CynthiaJaneCollinsstudios Isn't it amazing the kind of wisdom that pours out in just 3 minutes of journaling?! Thanks so much for sharing yours with us!
What keeps you from journal writing? What questions do you have?

so brilliant and simple! Three minutes ✨✨✨
