Were you doing the dlc on seamless or on the base game? Because if it was base game you could always transfer the save file back to seamless to get most of it back (unless your progress was all on seamless)
Honestly bro you should probably drop this tutorial and repost since you don't tell people to backup their save files and they're losing so much time played from mistakes..
mate, using my base game save file with seamless coop says my save file is from an updated game version. is there any way to downpatch the save file to match with the seamless coop's version?

Yeah it has the entire game there, and can be played totally vanilla if desired. The only differences to the normal game are the multiplayer features since your friends dont get nerfed as much, and arent restricted to a certain area
I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I did this the exact same way you did but all I got was an error message saying "Failed to load save data" and it wouldn't let me into the main menu. Now when I try launching the original game again my save files are all gone and apparently creating a new character and trying to play on that just crashes the game. Please help me man, I don't want to lose my progress.
You have to actually have a save file started in order for it to work when transferring. If you have never played seamless before, you will have to at least start an account before transferring the character will work. I should have included that in the video, my bad
Is there a way to transfer seamless coop characters between devices? (Steam deck seamless to Desktop seamless) When I replace the co2 on my desktop with the co2 file from my steam deck it keeps loading the desktop save.

It can be done, but you can get banned for doing it (since it would be considered a modded character) so i highly recommend not bringing characters back
Installed seamless yesterday and just want to add, that you really don't have to jump through the hoops with your save file. All it takes is copy the existing save file (for example to your desktop temporarily), change the file extension from .sl2 to .co2 and paste the file back into the Elden Ring save folder. Of course that is only if you know you want to play seamless with all your vanilla characters right where they were in the base game. You'd only use a save editor like in the video, if you only want an individual character transferred. For now I went the safe route though and made two backup save folders, one for vanilla and one for seamless, which I copy paste into the Elden Ring folder depending which one I want to play. I am afraid that EAC will "see" the seamless save file in the folder and flag that as a modded game. Is it safe to have both save files (sl2 and co2) in the Elden Ring folder simultaneously? It would be more convenient to not always have to backup and load saves, whenever I switch from vanilla to seamless and vice versa.
it is safe to have both save files in the same folders, EAC doesnt flag the .co as a mod or corrupted file so you would not get banned. Obviously if you change the .co file into the .sl file without using the software shown in this video you would likely get banned due to illegal items that seamless coop uses, so be sure to follow the instruction on this video. Hope i wasnt late on commenting
@@AlessioBudau do you know if it is definitely not a good idea to transfer a modded playthrough's save to the normal game? me and my friends started a co op playthrough on 1.10 (in a separate instance of the game) because the seamless coop mod wasn't fully available for 1.12 patch (hence the 1.10 patch copy of eldenring). Do we have to restart our progress or do you know if its possible to transfer from the seamless coop save (from game patch 1.10) into a fresh 1.12?
@@Diesel1234510 you can load it in the 1.12 ( this works with every version pre 1.12).For loading the file into the base game you should first load it into the sl(seamless 1.12, theoretically this would eliminate the old sl items. If you load the save file in sl 1.12 and still see illegal items (they should have no image with a "No Item" wrote where it should have been the image), than you have to discard them so that your file has none of them. If you used mods like reforge or anything like that i reccomend you eliminathing EVERY single item you have from the mod, but not only, every single change that the mod did to the save file must be reversed. Unfrotunatelly i dont remember very well how to do that so i reccomend you to be extremely carefull as this will get you banned. In the end, if you did everything correct you can use the software on this video(it automatically eliminate the sl items of the 1.12) and you can start playing on the base game. Hope i've helped you.
