For anyone wondering - I just got a Steam Deck at Christmas and followed this tutorial to a tee. It still works perfectly - so far as I can see it's not yet outdated.
Make sure the file is saved in the correct folder on the Deck, if the file is present in the correct folder, the game will recognize the save file. Look through the folder you are playing the save file in and make sure it is in fact the Elden Ring folder. Sometimes the folder names(the ones that are a bunch of numbers) are different per device, depending on game install order and such. TL;DR: make sure the save file is in the correct folder, if it is and you still have issues; starts new game on your deck and make sure it creates a new save file in the folder, if not, you are indeed in the wrong folder.
@@MrMcReeties I searched for Elden ring in the numbered folders and there was only one instance, and whenever I made a new game they weren’t connected to that folder. Is there any other location where the save file might be? Thanks for replying btw
@@keikoGuides no problem! I’m not sure about any other locations the save file might save to. It would be similar, Legion Go runs on Windows. So it’s actually a bit easier. If you follow the guide of this video, but only follow the parts in which are on PC/Windows, it should work. You would just do the same thing on your PC and your Legion Go. Basically just follow the steps that I do on my PC, then do that exact same thing on your Legion(except when I link the steam deck, you will be linking your Legion Go instead). However, in the event something goes wrong. Make sure you have a backup of your save file. Just copy and paste your save file to your desktop. Did all the setup, and I can see my save files getting updated in between PC/Deck but (yeah but) when I start the game on Deak it starts as a new game like my save game was not registered. Any idea what?
Make sure you’re linking the correct file on the Deck. If you are linked to the correct file AND it still starts a new game save, you should see 2 save game files. To fix that, honestly I’m not sure. I haven’t ran into that issue. Only fix I can think of(if you are indeed in the correct file location) is: make sure you back up or copy and paste your “good” save file first. Then, copy the file name of the save game file the Elden Ring is creating, then delete the file, then paste the file name for the good save file. So basically just making both dave files have the same name, but deleting the new save game file. But IMO, you’re most likely syncing to the wrong folder on the Deck(but maybe not). I reset my Deck a couple weeks ago and redid the SyncThing setup to get my saves to sync between my PC and Deck and it still seems to be working well.

I'm having an issue: right at 15:16 when the game shows that boot-up screen, mine just reads " Failed to find 'eldenring.exe' (Error = 2) Press any key to continue..." and doesn't go anywhere from there. Is it possible some update has borked the whole process, or have I done something wrong along the way?
Highly possible an update borked it. Seems every other update recently has borked it then it works again, then gets borked again. Personally haven’t plaid Elden ring in awhile, so I haven’t tested it recently.
Nope, no PC needed at all! Sync Thing is only for people who want to play on Steam Deck when out and about, then play on PC when they get home. Allows the save file to sync between the devices. But if you just want to grab a Steam Deck and run the mod with friends that are on PC, that works perfectly fine! No need for a PC at all
If you plan on only playing on the Steam Deck, then there is no need at all for Syncthing. Just get the seamless co-op mod itself installed and you’re ready to go 👍
I am getting a sync file error when finding the file path on my steam deck for sync thing, I’m not able to find the exact folder you used on mine and when I do find a file with Elden ring saves then there is a file path conflict
I would think it’d be the same process, but your directories will be different. Hop into Desktop Mode and open the file explorer and poke around until you find Elden Ring. I would install ER to my SD card, but currently have windows 11 installed on SD card so I can play CoD on my Deck. So I can’t try myself. Sorry man. But again, the process of the video is exactly the same, once you find where your game is saved and where the save files are. Once you do that, just use those directories instead. I’d think the directory would be similar, but instead of it being under your “C” Drive, it’ll be under whatever your SD card is called. Usually a secondary drive will get “D” volume. If you cant figure it out, I can add ya on Discord and try to help ya!
@@MrMcReeties thx for the in depth help. I followed your directions but when i try to add a non steam game steam doesn't show my sd card only desktop so I'll figure something out thx
@@MrMcReeties figured it out googling steam deck add non steam games from removable device the file path needed for micro sds is /run/media/mmcblk0p1. That is where the steam apps folder is hopfully if anyone else runs into this issue that helps.
I did forget to go over that, my bad! It’s one of the two files from the mod download that you put in your Elden Ring folder. I think the file is called called “cooppassword.ini” Then you have to have matching passwords with whoever you want to play with; the password goes within the quotation marks I believe
So I tried this how exactly would I know of I'm successful because I did open elden .exe but it took me to the regular game everytime so I'm kinda confused
Hello, not sure if others have asked, but on PC I used the anti-cheat disabler mod, because fromsoft doesn't like modding affecting online gameplay. With the steam deck should I also download and use anti cheat disabler? I'm not sure if it's the same as PC. Forgive me if this is a dumb question, I just noticed you didn't use it for your steam deck.
Honestly I’m not sure, I haven’t fired up Elden Ring in a while. I know they have had “anti-cheat” since launch, but it wasn’t an issue back when I made this video. Unless things have changed with their anti-cheat software, I don’t think it’d be a problem. I think their anti-cheat only detects things when a mod makes changes to the game files itself. But I could be wrong. But IMO, I don’t *think* it would be an issue to run the co-op mod without the anti-cheat disabler. Edit: just did a bit of research, you *should* have no issue with getting banned while using the co-op mod. Just don’t try to use your “co-op save file” in the vanilla game, unless you run the anti-cheat disabler. The co-op mod keeps its save file separate from all the vanilla stuff, so that you cannot get banned. But the moment you try to use your co-op save file in the “vanilla version” of the game, is when things get dicey. By default, your co op save file won’t show up when you launch the vanilla game. So unless you go out of your way to get your co op save file in the vanilla game, you’ll be perfectly fine.
I did not, which may explain my “conflicting” files. But I rarely play with my “single player” character anyway. But, my single player save still works perfectly fine between PC and Deck without turning Cloud Sync off Glad the video helped!
You can play co-op on the Steam Deck. This video shows how to install it on Deck, when you get the ProtonQT part, make sure you use the same “version number” that it shows in the video. The SyncThing portion is only needed if you like to play co-op on your Deck and your PC. If you only play on Deck, there is no need to set up SyncThing with your PC.
I haven’t played ER in awhile, but from the looks of things. I’d go for the version in the video. You can try the latest version, but I’ve seen a few people saying the latest version doesn’t work for some reason.
I know this is super late, but on my pc the save files are all in one folder and on the steam deck there are separate paths for the ER saves and the Coop saves. Do I just link the pc folder with only the seamless coop folder?
Ok, so I just discovered that the folder where you have your normal .sl2 files is not where .co2 are supposed to go. You need to go to the same process except that the folder you have to sync in the Steam Deck is another one, in my case is 2404121986, but you just need to search until one of them has just 2 files .co2 Hope this helped somebody with the same problem as me.
anyone know how to find your characters save file for seamless co op? i cant find it, i can find my vanilla save through the whole appdata roaming eldeng ring 7*** folder, but the .co2 isnt in there, even though its a choice when i load up seamless co op
@@MrMcReeties on steam deck, i actually found it by using the search function to find the co2 file and then backtracking through the folders to find the path and why its different from the sl2, its because sl2 has the 125460 folder or whatever it is, and the co2 was in a different number folder, got it all working now
What if you just put the save on drive or something and just upload it there after closing out and yhat way you dont need both on to update the saves? Like you finish on deck pass to drive and then when you want to go back to pc you just open drive and download the new save an plonk it down? Would that work?

I’m glad it helped!
Do you need a pc in order to play the mod? Or could you just have a steam deck? Or would it be pointless due to the save sync stuff?
Nope, no PC needed at all! Sync Thing is only for people who want to play on Steam Deck when out and about, then play on PC when they get home. Allows the save file to sync between the devices.
But if you just want to grab a Steam Deck and run the mod with friends that are on PC, that works perfectly fine! No need for a PC at all
@@MrMcReeties Ah gotcha, appreciate ya brotha 👍🏻
was this ever fixed?
if I plan on only playing on steam deck do I still have to watch the rest of the video after the sync thing stuff?
If you plan on only playing on the Steam Deck, then there is no need at all for Syncthing.
Just get the seamless co-op mod itself installed and you’re ready to go 👍
@@MrMcReeties I figured it out from the official discord server, there’s some weird script stuff you have to do to get it going but I got it, thanks!
Perfect guide! Thanks for putting it out there for us 🙏
Glad it was helpful!
I am getting a sync file error when finding the file path on my steam deck for sync thing, I’m not able to find the exact folder you used on mine and when I do find a file with Elden ring saves then there is a file path conflict
does this work with the asus ROG ally?
My elden ring is on a sd card what do i do
I would think it’d be the same process, but your directories will be different.
@@dovakeen1179 sorry about that man! Best of luck!
@@MrMcReeties figured it out googling steam deck add non steam games from removable device the file path needed for micro sds is /run/media/mmcblk0p1. That is where the steam apps folder is hopfully if anyone else runs into this issue that helps.
This was amazing. Thank you. However, we need a password for coop. You didn’t cover how to add that so we can play. Any idea?
I did forget to go over that, my bad! It’s one of the two files from the mod download that you put in your Elden Ring folder.
I think the file is called called “cooppassword.ini”
Then you have to have matching passwords with whoever you want to play with; the password goes within the quotation marks I believe
When i go to steam apps i dont have an elden ring Folder there
Great video, this works really well
Thank you! It’s my first video I’ve ever done like this, next time will definitely be better! Glad it helped!
hello is there anyway to move my seemless coop mod save file back over to normal so i can do invasions? thanks
Unfortunately not, in doing so(according to the mod creator) you have a high probability of getting banned on Elden Ring.
@@MrMcReeties ah OK thank you
4/22/24 Reporting still working! Thanks!
when i try and open seamless co-op it says "failed to find eldenring.exe" does anyone know how to fix it?
Did you rename your seamless coop.exe to Elden ring.exe
@@frostyfeet4932 i just did that and the elden ring anticheat opens and closes forever until i stop it do you know how to fix it?
So I tried this how exactly would I know of I'm successful because I did open elden .exe but it took me to the regular game everytime so I'm kinda confused
You need to open the co-op .exe
The normal eldenring.exe opens the non-modded version.
@@MrMcReeties Awesome, that is super helpful. Thanks a bunch.
Can you please show me how to get the convergance mod on my steam deck.
Thank you for making this video! Did you disable Steam Cloud Sync?
I did not, which may explain my “conflicting” files. But I rarely play with my “single player” character anyway. But, my single player save still works perfectly fine between PC and Deck without turning Cloud Sync off
Glad the video helped!
I just wish I could play co-op on the Steam Deck, do I still need to download Elden Ring on my PC? To do this file sharing in syncthing?
You can play co-op on the Steam Deck. This video shows how to install it on Deck, when you get the ProtonQT part, make sure you use the same “version number” that it shows in the video.
The SyncThing portion is only needed if you like to play co-op on your Deck and your PC. If you only play on Deck, there is no need to set up SyncThing with your PC.
@@MrMcReeties thx
My games on my sd card won’t open up when I click browse files
So what if there is nothing in my compatdata folder
did you figure this out
@@blask7002 I did
Do I need to turn off the steamcloud for Elden Ring?
Should I use the lastest version of GE-Proton or the version in the video?
I haven’t played ER in awhile, but from the looks of things. I’d go for the version in the video. You can try the latest version, but I’ve seen a few people saying the latest version doesn’t work for some reason.
does it work when playing with windows players?
You do another video on installing other mods
I know this is super late, but on my pc the save files are all in one folder and on the steam deck there are separate paths for the ER saves and the Coop saves. Do I just link the pc folder with only the seamless coop folder?
When I open it, it doesn't appear "load game" just "new game", where's my previous game?, someone help pls TT
Ok, so I just discovered that the folder where you have your normal .sl2 files is not where .co2 are supposed to go.
You need to go to the same process except that the folder you have to sync in the Steam Deck is another one, in my case is 2404121986, but you just need to search until one of them has just 2 files .co2
Hope this helped somebody with the same problem as me.
anyone know how to find your characters save file for seamless co op? i cant find it, i can find my vanilla save through the whole appdata roaming eldeng ring 7*** folder, but the .co2 isnt in there, even though its a choice when i load up seamless co op
On Deck or PC?
@@MrMcReeties on steam deck, i actually found it by using the search function to find the co2 file and then backtracking through the folders to find the path and why its different from the sl2, its because sl2 has the 125460 folder or whatever it is, and the co2 was in a different number folder, got it all working now
probably a stupid question, do all players involved in the coop need to have the mod installed on their pc to do this?
Yes they do
What if you just put the save on drive or something and just upload it there after closing out and yhat way you dont need both on to update the saves? Like you finish on deck pass to drive and then when you want to go back to pc you just open drive and download the new save an plonk it down? Would that work?
Crap, as soon as I did this my saves wont load on ether ....
Are you the same guy from Reddit?
@@MrMcReeties Yes sir, the saddest man alive.
