I'm just amazed at the level of depth Morrowind had compared to later TES games, wear nice clothes and NPC's will respect you more, that's simply amazing!

I learned this by myself as a kid: After you've gone to the guy in the room after the ring you can jump on top of his head and then sneak and steal a key which is in the shelf. That's the key to the house opposite of the door from that house you're in right now, there are some armor and weapons in there which you can steal
A better way to do it is the go near the exit door, and steal the travel lantern off the wall. Then immediately drop everything you have, the guard will reprimand you for stealing but that requires him walking across the room to talk to you so if you walk around the table you can snag the key and drop it before he talks to you. Thus allowing you to pick it back up and all your stuff without it being considered stolen. Use the lantern as a lure to get him away from the key, drop everything, let him talk to you, then go nab the key quick and then drop it immediately, then once he speaks to you again pick it back up, it's alot in written form but only takes about 5 seconds to perform haha. ^^' a very simple way to get the key to the warehouse without much effort.
this made me feel like I'd missed a bunch of important stuff but then I remembered that fuck it, I do what I want, and fucked off into the wilderness first chance I got. I'm a big strong half-orc woman who don't need no man.
I'm glad to help! these are all things that I have discovered over a long period of time. It's sad to see people quit this game because it's tough at the begginning so I thought I'd try and help :D
Glad my video could help! You have the game of the year edition which comes with the Tribnal expansion. This adds the Dark Brotherhood storyline, which starts by an agent attacking you in your sleep :) I didn't mention it in the video because I was playing on standard edition at the time
Good video man. I've played the beginning of Morrowind numerous times and I still managed to learn a couple new things here. It is amazing how much there is to the game.
I didnt know about about the axe also, thanks!! BTW Make Florin Gilnith mad at you then do not kill him at all. decide for yourself he is better to keep as training enemy you can hurt him(train your weapons skills) and come back 24 hours later( quick 24hour rest in front of the cave by the silt strider) run back and forth, let the guy hit you till are knocked out, keep autorun on so you do not get up.(train your armor (just dont die)) DO this by the door,Keep the door highlighted, Lol. Cheers!
Great vid! I just started Morrowind today cause I want to play all the elder scrolls games but I do not want to skip. So this vid helped me a lot with getting started! Thank you :D
This is such a great tutorial/beginners advice video! Your commentary is also entertaining and relaxing to follow. Even though this is 8 years old you should make sequels! Hope you’re doing well 8 years on :))
I always go to suran right away and steal a candle from goldyn belaram the pawnbroker then immediately put it down. He attacks you buy you can kill him since he attacked first. You then go to a guard and pay the 1-2 gold fine for stealing the candle then you can go take goldyns 5 ebony darts, ebony bracer, and glass dagger, worth 19000 gold sold to the creeper in caldera. You just have to repair the glass dagger. It's a nice chunk of gold to get started with.
I just want to say that when I started this game I had no idea what the crap to do, and I ended up wandering around with no money and a dagger, so I quit. But I wanted to play this game again and this guide was super helpful, thanks!
I always go for the warehouse key behind the imperial in the last room of the tutorial area. Trick him to hunt you buy stealing something on the table, then before he goes back do the loot and drop trick on the key in the bookshelf. Really good loot in the warehouse (the door diagonaly right after you exit the tutorial), but hard door to lockpick so an early character would probably need the key or a scroll.
Make sure you remember that you can get moon sugar and skooma from both the warehouse and also addamasartus cave next. To the silt strider which is an easy 1-2 k, you must sell these things to the khajiit merchant in balmora that is to the right of the mages guild and across from the Smith and outfitter in the main lower square.
definitely look into getting the sword of white woe, that will help you if you don't already have a strong weapon. Other than that there are the guilds you can join in the city: Thieves Guild, Fighters Guild, Mages Guild, Tribunal Temple, and House Hlaalu. I would look around for the few scattered minor quests such as "Thelas' Pillows". I would recommend working a while with a guild or two before the main quest. Also remember that you can take anything from the crates in the streets for free.
You should have mentioned the mentor's ring artifact that you can find in a nearby ancesteral tomb. Also, if you're willing to include towns other than seyda neen then you could have mentioned the full set of free bonemold armor that you can find in a chest in one of the guard towers in ald-ruhn. There's also the blade of white woe in one of the balmora guard towers.
Beanmachine91 You know what, let's also talk about how easy it is to use drain skill spells to get 1gp training and get to level 50 in an hour with perfectly optimized stats.
Beanmachine91 skill drains are temporary. skill increases from training are permanent but often expensive. the trick is to drain your skills before training so that it's basically free
when you get the tax scroll and gold just go to the guy and kill him without starting the quest. in doing so you get to keep the 200 you found + the 500 you get for turning in the quest.
lol I knew that already bro, you can also drink a levitation potion before you land. Since this vid was for beginners an I was strapped for time I didnt really want to go into detail with it, but thank you for going out of your way to make a video!
My favorite build - Orc (fighter type of course...) Medium Armor, Long Blade, Block, Athletics & Mysticism as Primaries. Favored Atts = Agility & Intelligence. Mix it up a bit with Secondaries... perhaps Acrobatics, Marksman & Sneak are a good start. I like Shadow for Zodiac, the Invisibility Power comes in handy! Very good video man! I managed to get 2K Gold with your vid, but when I Killed the Murderer of that man (Don't remember the name) I tried to sleep a bit, but I was woken up by an Assassin. I tried to sleep in the murderer's house, but I was too weak so I ran away before he killed me. But Great Vid. ( Obviously the assassin wasn't your fault) You won a sub.
It might not seem like it at first, but if you look for adventure you will find it! Head to Vivec if you haven't already. Joining a guild or two helps as well :D I was lucky enough for this to be my first Elder Scrolls game, so I was stuck with it for a long time. It takes more patience than the other installments for sure.
@ZombiepocalypsePSA Are you playing the regular version of this game? The only thing I like about the Xbox version is that the font is much better and easier to see. I think you need mods for the PC.
if your playing the game of the year edition, be sure to be well equipped before you sleep, because a dark brotherhood assassin will attack you. you can make decent money off the armor and shopkeepers wear the full suit as well!!

It sounds like you are trying to make a sort of hit-and-run type ranged character who will conjure ranged weapons (you will also want to conjure creatures for extra help). I would take either a wood elf or a high elf. wood elf if you want to rely more on speed, stealth and ranged, or high elf if you want to use magic more heavily.either of those classes could be used but I would prefer the wood elf since you are only using one type of magic mainly. Go with the mage birthsign for extra magicka.
Morrowind Graphics and Sound overhaul, get that. Skywind just won't be the same, it'll just be Morrowind in Skyrim engine, which wont have the same feel.
You didn't get the warehouse key near Sellus Gravius. Theres a bunch of steel armor and weapons in the warehouse across from the room where you talk about 'duties'
You don’t need do this warehouse key an also just if you go to mage guild there a quest with a fake gem an you get full soul gem that worth a lot gold an if you do have armor an weapon I sell it to the fighter guild smith he has 2k gold to start
Thank you! I'm not an expert on either quest line, but they do not conflict with one another. So you can do both in whichever order you like. Many people online recommend the Morag Tong over the Thieve's Guild simply because they offer a more unique quest line. Both require agility in order to be promoted, but the TG also requires personality and the MT also requires speed. It really comes down to your personal preference and what type of character you are building. Hope I could help.
ZombiepocalypsePSA Ah thanks for the advise.Im trying out a battle mageish type character.Ive beaten oblivion and know when you level you could invest into 3 attributes during a course of leveling like for example I did strength, endurance and speed.Morrowind seems a little different but I'm not too shure since I haven't leveled yet. Anyways I went: Dark elf combat Favorite atribute: Strength and endurance I do that so I have the best damage agenst enemy's and my health is at max so i can take more hits but I do plan to also invest into intelegence as my 3rd since I'm going to also be using destruction. Major skills- Short blade Armorer Medium armor Long blade Destruction Minor skills- Block Axe Spear Blunt weapon Heavy armor Let me know what you think.
You can get a multiplier on your attribute increases upon leveling up depending on how many times you leveled up a corresponding skill (e.g. leveling up your long blade skill will give you a multiplier for your strength attribute). This forum page explains in depth, I would recommend reading it: www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=89419 Anyway, the character you built does not match the Thieve's Guild or Morag Tong all too well. In order to level up in each guild, you will need to meet requirements in Agility, Speed (MT), and Personality (TG). You will also need to level up certain skills that are required by each guild. See the favored skills and leveling tree for each guild here: Thieve's Guild - www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Thieves_Guild Morag Tong - www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Morag_Tong You could enter these guilds, but it would be difficult for you to advance in them. Your build is suited more for the Fighter's Guild, House Redoran, Imperial Legion, and Quarra Vampire Clan.
ZombiepocalypsePSA Interesting,I thought you could make any build work with all the guilds like in oblivion but it seems like you have to focus on leveling the same skill 10 times in order to receive a high atribute multiplier in a certaint area and since there are guilds that require certant atributes and skills you would need to invest time into getting them up as you level which can throw your build off.I guess I could do the fighters guild instead then since I like to focus more on leveling my armor and weapons more then I could shift more twords destruction as my third skill to level up intelegence somewhere after or does destruction give a multiplier to something else?
Soooo what if I already killed Vitellius before I found the dead tax collector? I tried to pick pocket him, and he saw me... Is there any way to finish that quest now?
Why on Earth haven't you got Overhaul? 3.0 just came out the other day, too. It's a simple install now, and makes the game absolutely stunning (without making any un-vanilla changes, bar the Caode Patch bug fixes and such)
I spent quite a lot of time serching for things in this specific area whenever I started a new game, found most of it myself. I also have a guide for the game which directed me towards the treasure hidden in the tree trunks lol
It should be noted tho that morrowind is so amazing, even if i only had it on the xbox i would still play and love it. The pc version is seriously so much better tho
strange. That's what I have and I can run Morrowind just fine. I was asking because a lot of people had trouble with running it on Vista. But what happens when you try to run morrowind??
It's all good. I just bought the game and yours was the first video I came across. Combat is so different from Skyrim and you were showing me basic stuff around the staring area that I haven't even seen yet. Thanks, your video is a big help now lol after putting a few hours into the game, modding, and reading the wiki lol
Blitz Here If you have any other questions that you can't easily find the answers to online, feel free to comment here. I hope you enjoy the game! It can be confusing at first and the combat mechanics are a bit dated, but beyond that it has an immense amount of depth.
Very true! I'm replaying the game right now with the Morrowind 3.0 overhaul mod on my PC - playing it on the Xbox all those years ago definitely makes me appreciate the improved visuals, haha
Not really, they are outclassed by other weapons. And the only good spear is pretty difficult to get, it's not really worth it. However, if you train skills that scale your endurance before you level up, you can get 5x endurance when you do. Making your character have a high endurance at the begging is important. I recommend the Lady Stone I think it was, which gives you 25 points of endurance.
when you use your sign perk to unlock the door like that and everyone just ignored your crime.. will this happen evrytime to use the spell to break into a door or just in this one instance?
during the selling around the 9th minute, everything is wrong you had sell only the stuff for the gold he have, not lowering the value of ALL... the bartering purpose is to rise the selling value and decrease the buying price, not the contrary you had to keep in your backpack something like ingredients and some other stuff
+Cherudex I guess I simply did that for the sake of saving time in the tutorial. I wish I could travel four years into the past and warn myself against making that mistake...
Disk-based? It's an older game, and it can take ,some work getting it to run on a newer PC (like my own). Maybe buy the complete version off Steam. It's fully patched with all the expansions, works right out of the gate and is short money, plus the Overhaul works flawlessly with it. I've been playing it these last few days, and sometimes it almost takes my breath away how good it looks.
I'm just amazed at the level of depth Morrowind had compared to later TES games, wear nice clothes and NPC's will respect you more, that's simply amazing!

Step 2: Later reveal that you needed to pick the Tower Sign to open a lock.

You can get a multiplier on your attribute increases upon leveling up depending on how many times you leveled up a corresponding skill (e.g. leveling up your long blade skill will give you a multiplier for your strength attribute). This forum page explains in depth, I would recommend reading it: www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=89419
Anyway, the character you built does not match the Thieve's Guild or Morag Tong all too well. In order to level up in each guild, you will need to meet requirements in Agility, Speed (MT), and Personality (TG). You will also need to level up certain skills that are required by each guild. Thieve's Guild - www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Thieves_Guild
Morag Tong - www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Morag_Tong
You could enter these guilds, but it would be difficult for you to advance in them.
Willpower is the governing attribute of the destruction skill, so it would get the multiplier.

If i were to make something like a conjure bow type of character, which race and star sign do you recommend?
Awesome guide, but I have to say Morrowind looks a lot better on pc. Less fog restricting the view distance, and dynamic shadows for the win!
very helpful tips thanks.
Awesome vid, thanks.
You know...It would've been nice to know this before I was being chased down and murdered by a frickin scrib...
I have the PC version as well but for some reason it wont work on my new computer :/
Thus is awesome. It's a shame he didn't make one for the latter games :(
If you want something else, I have more class builds in mind.
Thanks man! btw, does morrowind lag after playing for a while?
I wasn't really looking for a walkthrough full of spoilers, but more of beginners guide on the gameplay & combat mechanics.
Blitz Here Try UESPwiki
It's all good. I just bought the game and yours was the first video I came across. Combat is so different from Skyrim and you were showing me basic stuff around the staring area that I haven't even seen yet. Thanks, your video is a big help now lol after putting a few hours into the game, modding, and reading the wiki lol
Blitz Here If you have any other questions that you can't easily find the answers to online, feel free to comment here. I hope you enjoy the game! It can be confusing at first and the combat mechanics are a bit dated, but beyond that it has an immense amount of depth.
Where the heck did you get the key to open the upstairs door (inside the trade shop)?
It's the power that comes with the tower star sign, it lets you open up to a level 50 lock.
Buy a lockpick from the guy downstairs and pick the lock open
That xbox resolution though.. haha kinda nostalgic, that's how I first played the game too
I recommend the Lady Stone I think it was, which gives you 25 points of endurance.
also, is there a way to get a conjure bow spell early in the game?
great guide!
anytime! And no I have not experienced any extra lag
when you use your sign perk to unlock the door like that and everyone just ignored your crime.. will this happen evrytime to use the spell to break into a door or just in this one instance?
Trent Friedli It depends, I've seen mixed results throughout playing the game. Just make sure to save before trying it.
+ZombiepocalypsePSA okay cool, thanks for the vid and thanks for replying so quick
i just started a new game after 9 months away fromit im in baltora what should i do begore the main quest?
Dude thanks helps a lot would of never found the tax collector dude
its not an easter egg because you can after you fly before you land you use the spell again
lol as a beginner I picked the level 40 door of the enchanted dagger
during the selling around the 9th minute, everything is wrong
you had sell only the stuff for the gold he have, not lowering the value of ALL...
the bartering purpose is to rise the selling value and decrease the buying price, not the contrary
you had to keep in your backpack something like ingredients and some other stuff
+Cherudex I guess I simply did that for the sake of saving time in the tutorial. I wish I could travel four years into the past and warn myself against making that mistake...
+ZombiepocalypsePSA
i saw just now that is 2012 video, i saw just now o_O
+Cherudex Haha no worries, I feel weird when I see that too. It's hard to believe that this was four years ago.
The game pauses when your in your inventory on the pc version witch makes it even easier to steal the stuff. Muahh hahh Haaa
i found 32 flame arrows in the hut where the murderer guy lives
I'm thinking of getting this I've player skyrim and oblivion my favourite is oblivion but I want to try morrow ins cause everyone says its really good
awesome intro
wow how am i supposed to find this stuff on my own. how did you found them? by accident ?
Awesome Vid
guys can u tell me any archer tip
Keep moving!
Can u use killers chest as your own or will it respawn and lose your shit.
You can use the container, your stuff will be safe. Much like Hlaalo manor in Balmora.
