Man what an ancient video.
Finding this video in 2024 is like wandering into a Dunmer ancestral tomb... Full of dust.
Good video man. I've played the beginning of Morrowind numerous times and I still managed to learn a couple new things here. It is amazing how much there is to the game.
Or just go into shops murder the occupant and steal all their stuff and sell it to other shopkeepers.. Plenty of shops in morrowind. 😂
You don’t need do this warehouse key an also just if you go to mage guild there a quest with a fake gem an you get full soul gem that worth a lot gold an if you do have armor an weapon I sell it to the fighter guild smith he has 2k gold to start
great guide!
This is such a great tutorial/beginners advice video! Your commentary is also entertaining and relaxing to follow. Even though this is 8 years old you should make sequels! Hope you’re doing well 8 years on :))
How to make a game guide: Step 1: Don’t show character creation. Step 2: Later reveal that you needed to pick the Tower Sign to open a lock.
My favorite build - Orc (fighter type of course...) Medium Armor, Long Blade, Block, Athletics & Mysticism as Primaries. Favored Atts = Agility & Intelligence. Mix it up a bit with Secondaries... perhaps Acrobatics, Marksman & Sneak are a good start. I like Shadow for Zodiac, the Invisibility Power comes in handy! I know that seems like an odd mix but it's good for a well-rounded Fighter who doesn't care about being sociable. :p Thanks!
Make sure you remember that you can get moon sugar and skooma from both the warehouse and also addamasartus cave next. To the silt strider which is an easy 1-2 k, you must sell these things to the khajiit merchant in balmora that is to the right of the mages guild and across from the Smith and outfitter in the main lower square.
Thus is awesome. It's a shame he didn't make one for the latter games :(
I always go to suran right away and steal a candle from goldyn belaram the pawnbroker then immediately put it down. He attacks you buy you can kill him since he attacked first. You then go to a guard and pay the 1-2 gold fine for stealing the candle then you can go take goldyns 5 ebony darts, ebony bracer, and glass dagger, worth 19000 gold sold to the creeper in caldera. You just have to repair the glass dagger. It's a nice chunk of gold to get started with.
Thank you . This helped me a lot . Thumbs up .
make more morrowind guides!
Is there anything in particular that you'd like a guide for?
Watched this today,i am new in this game and i so Enthusiastic
Watched this today, in 2018. Thanks!
You know...It would've been nice to know this before I was being chased down and murdered by a frickin scrib...
I wasn't really looking for a walkthrough full of spoilers, but more of beginners guide on the gameplay & combat mechanics.
Blitz Here Try UESPwiki
It's all good. I just bought the game and yours was the first video I came across. Combat is so different from Skyrim and you were showing me basic stuff around the staring area that I haven't even seen yet. Thanks, your video is a big help now lol after putting a few hours into the game, modding, and reading the wiki lol
Blitz Here If you have any other questions that you can't easily find the answers to online, feel free to comment here. I hope you enjoy the game! It can be confusing at first and the combat mechanics are a bit dated, but beyond that it has an immense amount of depth.
It doesn't look like this on my xbox
So basically in order to play Morrowind and not get frustrated I have to cheat. Cool. Oh, and also you have to go in the opposite direction that the game sends you to to get some cool stuff you won't know about in your first playthrough.
I first played this game as an 11-year-old kid without knowing any of these tips and I did not get frustrated enough to quit. Perhaps you should try a game that is slightly easier? Also, nothing I showed in this video is a cheat. Finally, Elder Scrolls games are open-world, meaning that you do not have to go in the direction they urge you to go. You can play for over one hundred hours without even starting the main quest.
The tip you give to make some money is 1) taking advantage of something that seems like a bug (if you steal something but you automatically throw it to the ground, the game stops perceiving it as "someone else's" property) and 2) something no sane person will even try to do in their first playthrough unless someone tells them to. So yes, technically is not cheating but it's the closest thing to cheating I can think of. (The only usefull part is the lockpick and looting the part where you find the dagger -I completely missed that!) About the other thing, again, technically it's not cheating, but it's something 99% of the players won't do in their first playthrough, because as open-wordly Morroind might be the fact is that if you're playing this for the first time you're probably just going to follow what the legion soldier tells you and go find that blades guy in that town, because if this is your first time playing, you won't know any better. My point is that Morrowind isn't a very intuitive game, and watching your video it seems like the only way to enjoy the game is by reading how to break it as quickly as possible. And I'm sure it's not the intention of the video, but that's the idea I took from it. When I read the title I thought you were going to talk about which class is the best for a first playthrough or how the combat works or something like that. But again, that's my take on it, so don't take this the wrong way because I'm not trying to shit on your video or anything like it. btw, I tried playing the game a couple of weeks ago and after three hours I stopped because of how frustrated I was. I'm planing on keep playing it (the only reason I haven't is because I didn't find the time) because people have told me it's the best game ever, and also because so far the world looks interesting as fuck (I explored a couple of places and they seem more complex and deep than any place in Skyrim), but I think it's undeniable that the beggining of the game is frustrating as fuck and also poorly design. Just compare it to the beggining of Oblivion and Skyrim, in those games you have some kind of "tutorial dungeon" that teaches you the basics of the game, so when you're thrown into the game you'll know at least how to play it. Morrowind on the other hand throws you into the game with no preparation, it doesn't even bother to explain you the weird combat system. And that's horrible, honestly. Sorry if you took this the wrong way (reading my previous comment I feel I was a bit of a dick there), the video isn't bad, it's really usefull in fact, I just think the title is missleading. This isn't a "begginers guide" this is a "some tips to maybe make your first playthrough easier"
Tximino M No worries! I try to reply to all of the comments I get here. Considering the fact that I made the video when I was in eighth grade (I am now 20 years old), sometimes I get a little salty towards the more critical comments. In reality, your critiques are accurate. I forgot the bug that I exploited there at the beginning, and most people would never know better than to do many of these things on their first playthrough. Being so young, I didn't have the sense to make a second video which would properly explain the game's confusing mechanics. I urge you to keep trying with Morrowind, though. the fact that I made this video five years ago and still answer people's questions avidly shows how much of an effect the game had on me. Hell, the game released in 2002 and it still has a strong community. It is frustrating and difficult at first. But just about anything you have to put real effort into will turn out to be more valuable of an experience in the end. If you play on PC, you could always install mods to make the combat mechanics better. A graphical overhaul doesn't hurt, either. I run the Morrowind 3.0 mod - just about the easiest mod to install, with a huge improvement in aesthetics. Anyway, sorry for getting sassy. Thank you for watching and providing feedback. And if you have any questions about the game, feel free to ask me.
Watching this in 2017... Helped a lot man, thanks
Just to the left of Seyda Neen there is a tomb with a constant fortify wisdom ring in it.
so this is no begginer guide
nassim daoud how so?
I started today to play this game, there was choices concerning the races, signs ans types and i expected to put on some lights to help us choosing thanks for your interest
nassim daoud Oh I see. In order to fit in some of the lesser known tips I could offer, I decided to cut out character creation. UESPwiki is always very helpful with those kinds of things. If you have any questions, feel free to comment here and I'll give you my best answer.
I'll check it out, thank you
steal everything !!
What console are should playing on
The video was recorded in the Xbox version of the game. I currently play the PC version.
ZombiepocalypsePSA thanks for responding and decoding what I was trying to say
You say I'll be able to buy any armor I want right off the bat?! Where do I find a daedric set for under 2000 gold?
Joseph Holliday I believe the shop in Seyda Neen carries a set, if you don't have any luck there you could try asking Fargoth. I believe he gives them out for free
Hope the Imperials treated you okay. I swear they took my ring.
I had no idea how to play this game back then and didn't know how to level up, went out and killed villages of people to level up my skills.
when you use your sign perk to unlock the door like that and everyone just ignored your crime.. will this happen evrytime to use the spell to break into a door or just in this one instance?
Trent Friedli It depends, I've seen mixed results throughout playing the game. Just make sure to save before trying it.
+ZombiepocalypsePSA okay cool, thanks for the vid and thanks for replying so quick
Exactly the kind of thing i was looking for, thanks!
Triggerino Kripperino noob
Matt Horstman most have their kripp accounts as their alts just for his channel, im one of the few u can find :)
I'm just amazed at the level of depth Morrowind had compared to later TES games, wear nice clothes and NPC's will respect you more, that's simply amazing!
Yeah, and this game doesn't have combat designed for 7 year olds and actually requires you to think when doing your quests
@@awsomeboxhead you failed casting the spell you failed casting the spell you failed casting the spell you failed casting the spell you failed casting the spell you failed casting the spell you failed casting the spell you failed casting the spell
Awesome Vid
Jesus Christ, Morrowind looks so bad on original xbox
I liked the video though
It looks much better in person.. trust me, but yeah, it's from a console in 2001, so of course it does.
Rule the First: Play to Your Character Type.
It should be noted tho that morrowind is so amazing, even if i only had it on the xbox i would still play and love it. The pc version is seriously so much better tho
Oh my god the xbox port sucks :/ i wish everyone could play morrowind on pc. It's so much better.
Is that what he's doing? Ugh. I'd rather watch a potato.
morrowind isnt a spectacular looking game to begin with, what does it matter?
+PSI Rocker wasnt talking about graphics. The menus in the xbox version suck ass. Navigating them is so clunky and takes forever compared to the amazing morrowind pc interface. Plus you cant mod the xbox version. You also dont have access to console commands so if you get stuck in terrain or encounter a bug you have to hope to god that it works itself out or you have a recent save ready to reload.
I took me a week to find the game and I got it for xbox I fucking regret it
the adaar well the xbox version is still playable but if you have a pc why not just play it on pc in any situation? you have access to console commands for bug fixes (it can also help if you get stuck in terrain), you can mod it, you can change your speed stat with console commands if you want to run faster because the default run speed sucks, it looks better and you can use graphical overhauls, and the menu system is so much better. any pc made within the last ten years can run morrowind well so if you have a decent pc or even a meh one there's no reason to not try the pc version first.
guys can u tell me any archer tip
Great vid, I just got it on steam for $8, and will start the way you suggested!
Glad I could help! If you have any questions feel free to ask
Love this fucking vid!
ty man
That xbox resolution though.. haha kinda nostalgic, that's how I first played the game too
Very true! I'm replaying the game right now with the Morrowind 3.0 overhaul mod on my PC - playing it on the Xbox all those years ago definitely makes me appreciate the improved visuals, haha
Can u use killers chest as your own or will it respawn and lose your shit.
You can use the container, your stuff will be safe. Much like Hlaalo manor in Balmora.
Awesome guide, thanks man.
Best starter guide I've found on RUclips.Would it be smart to join the thieves guild first or the morangtong?
Thank you! I'm not an expert on either quest line, but they do not conflict with one another. So you can do both in whichever order you like. Many people online recommend the Morag Tong over the Thieve's Guild simply because they offer a more unique quest line. Both require agility in order to be promoted, but the TG also requires personality and the MT also requires speed. It really comes down to your personal preference and what type of character you are building. Hope I could help.
ZombiepocalypsePSA Ah thanks for the advise.Im trying out a battle mageish type character.Ive beaten oblivion and know when you level you could invest into 3 attributes during a course of leveling like for example I did strength, endurance and speed.Morrowind seems a little different but I'm not too shure since I haven't leveled yet. Anyways I went: Dark elf combat Favorite atribute: Strength and endurance I do that so I have the best damage agenst enemy's and my health is at max so i can take more hits but I do plan to also invest into intelegence as my 3rd since I'm going to also be using destruction. Major skills- Short blade Armorer Medium armor Long blade Destruction Minor skills- Block Axe Spear Blunt weapon Heavy armor Let me know what you think.
You can get a multiplier on your attribute increases upon leveling up depending on how many times you leveled up a corresponding skill (e.g. leveling up your long blade skill will give you a multiplier for your strength attribute). This forum page explains in depth, I would recommend reading it: www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=89419 Anyway, the character you built does not match the Thieve's Guild or Morag Tong all too well. In order to level up in each guild, you will need to meet requirements in Agility, Speed (MT), and Personality (TG). You will also need to level up certain skills that are required by each guild. See the favored skills and leveling tree for each guild here: Thieve's Guild - www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Thieves_Guild Morag Tong - www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Morag_Tong You could enter these guilds, but it would be difficult for you to advance in them. Your build is suited more for the Fighter's Guild, House Redoran, Imperial Legion, and Quarra Vampire Clan.
ZombiepocalypsePSA Interesting,I thought you could make any build work with all the guilds like in oblivion but it seems like you have to focus on leveling the same skill 10 times in order to receive a high atribute multiplier in a certaint area and since there are guilds that require certant atributes and skills you would need to invest time into getting them up as you level which can throw your build off.I guess I could do the fighters guild instead then since I like to focus more on leveling my armor and weapons more then I could shift more twords destruction as my third skill to level up intelegence somewhere after or does destruction give a multiplier to something else?
Willpower is the governing attribute of the destruction skill, so it would get the multiplier.
How to fast travel?
You can fast travel by visiting the silt striders outside the major towns and cities. They are tall, bug-like creatures with very long legs. You can also fast travel by boat to many coastal towns and within the city of Vivic. If you join the mages guild, you can also take advantage of teleportation to the different guild locations.
+ZombiepocalypsePSA Vivec*
+Madn3ssGaming Drink 600 bottles of skooma and off you go.
this game is fucking impossible
Far from it, but there's a lot of secrets and things you have to learn before you can play "properly"
It's pretty easy actually, or at least it can be if you know some secrets.
Minty Oreos true but its a thousand times easier than dagger fall that game is litteraly maxxed out with difficulty
You can make 100k off the bat and get some cool ass shit in Morrowind.. it's all about knowing secrets.
Trent Friedli I find daggerfall to be easier for me. Daggerfall is a lot more simple and straight forward in my opinion.
Dude thanks helps a lot would of never found the tax collector dude
Hey does dropping the book work on computer if it does, does it work if you come back also thanks for the tip of items in tree stumps I look forward to find some items and I found the guy in the sky a long time ago but I died after finding him anyway nice 17 min video :0 thumbs up
*does it work if you go back to place where you begin with
+CLASH OF POOUNITE The book dropping trick does work on PC , however it will not work after you leave the room the first time.
+ZombiepocalypsePSA :( thanks for replying quickly though :p too bad I can't get the 650 value plate
+CLASH OF POOUNITE That's a bummer, maybe next time!
I always go for the warehouse key behind the imperial in the last room of the tutorial area. Trick him to hunt you buy stealing something on the table, then before he goes back do the loot and drop trick on the key in the bookshelf. Really good loot in the warehouse (the door diagonaly right after you exit the tutorial), but hard door to lockpick so an early character would probably need the key or a scroll.
during the selling around the 9th minute, everything is wrong you had sell only the stuff for the gold he have, not lowering the value of ALL... the bartering purpose is to rise the selling value and decrease the buying price, not the contrary you had to keep in your backpack something like ingredients and some other stuff
+Cherudex I guess I simply did that for the sake of saving time in the tutorial. I wish I could travel four years into the past and warn myself against making that mistake...
+ZombiepocalypsePSA i saw just now that is 2012 video, i saw just now o_O
+Cherudex Haha no worries, I feel weird when I see that too. It's hard to believe that this was four years ago.
omg so much fun!!! LIKE HOLY SHIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET! I can't believe the amount of fun I'm having is like FUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Dollars?
