- Here is my drum cover of One More Year by the band Tame Impala. The song is track 1 on the album The Slow Rush which was released on the 14th of February 2020. The song was written, recorded and produced by Kevin Parker.
I have attempted to transcribe and perform the drums exactly how they were recorded.

Evan you’re absolutely right. I’ve broken it up into 4/4 2/4 4/4 4/4 on my chart, so that the time signatures flow with the chords.

@@RoddyBailey Before I downloaded the transcription I always heard it as 12/4 with an extra measure of 2! I see why you grouped it this way now though!

Please do a cover of breathe deeper, but in the style of the outro of tomorrow's dust. The heavy reverb on the drum sound makes it sound huge, like listening from the corridors outside of a big recoding room.
Prakash Chaudhary I’ve already covered them all on the record up to it might be time. I didn’t include beginning or ending of tomorrow’s dust, didn’t see the point as it’s just repeats with a lot of effects that made the drums barely identifiable. But kool idea!

I can’t imagine to coordination in this song. It seems like Kevin recorded the hi hats on a separate take because it seems impossible but you showed it is!

Great work as always! I’m curious if you think Kevin is intentionally laying a sort of chronological progression of late 20th century music through each of his albums. He obviously brings a lot of modern style, but seriously, each album has felt like 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s in order.

What has been your method for transcribing the songs, and do you have any tips for transcription? I’ve been trying to listen to them over and over again and break down each part of the set (kick, hi-hat, snare, etc) one by one. Cheers, mate!
ujarunnop thanks very much! It’s hours and hours of listening over. Usually just one bar at a time and put at half speed trying to work out exactly what’s going on.

L W thanks! play over them. Make the drums sound good with relevant tuning and pitch on snare and toms. Not much eq, bit of compression on snare and kick. That’s about it!

He has the backing track in the video, so it could be the hi hats from the song. He might be moving in and out of tempo just gradually.
