In this episode, Did You Know Gaming takes a look at some facts, secrets, Easter eggs and history of Wolfenstein! This video specifically focuses on the Wolfenstein soft reboots trilogy, The New Order, The Old Blood, and Wolfenstein The New Colossus which have all released on PC, PlayStation 4 (PS4), Xbox One, and New Colossus will also release on the Nintendo Switch. There is one reference in New Order that I notice a lot of people miss, namely that the cover art and the armor of some of the Nazi's take some heavy cues from the movie Jin-Roh, another alternate history work where the Nazi's won.

Gotta say, the new colossus is one of the best games I have ever played, probably the best single player game since half life 2. The balance between seriousness and comedy is perfect, the characters are nicely developed and detailed and my favorite character is Fergus

There was another nod to Bethesda Games in the Old Blood there was a helmet you could pick up for armor points in Helga Von Shabbs office that exactly resembles a Iron Hemet from The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim.
People really dont appreciate how much of an impact not including multiplayer has on the quality and longevity of the singleplayer campaign, i respect developers who have the balls to not feel the need to cram multiplayer into every game.

Did you know? "The New Order" was NOT the first Wolfenstein game to be released in germany. "Return to Castle Wolfenstein" also got a release in germany in 2001, but of course it was censored in the same way like the new games are. Same goes for Wolfenstein from 2009, but it was taken from stores after they realized they forgot to remove one swastika in the game. Suprisingly the violence wasn't censored which was unusual for that time and it was even rated USK 16.
Just going to explain this: the nazis in game are real nazis, like actual full on nazis. Not the insult in politics used by people with no understanding of the reality of the term who use the word to put down a person who happens to be slightly more left or right than them politically.

You see, the left has begun to call the right (especially Trump Supporters) Nazis. As such, there have been many kinds of "no more Nazis" hashtags intent on censoring the entire right. Given how that was a recent phenomena around the time of the trailer, many thought it was "too soon". The right almost entirely doesn't view condemnation of Nazism as bad, just that they hate being compared to Nazis when excercising very different, if not the outright opposite, ideology.
Mostly, the problem is the liberal (no pun intended) usage of the term Nazi for anyone with non leftist ideals, and the term seemingly applying to everyone on the right now.

I have no problems with the German Nazis being portrayed as evil, I've gladly slaughtered truckloads of them in previous games and in other WWII based games. My problem is the story elements that seem to associate whiteness with Naziism. Grace flat out says it's the Nazis' fault, they retconned Blaskowitz reminiscenting about his Father in The New Order to make him a Klansman stereotype, BJ flat out says "White Ass" as an insult, and they even play with the idea of falsely labeling someone a Nazi with Sigrun having had enough of Grace calling her one after she made her allegiance clear.

NOpe :-) New order was NOT the first Wolfenstein to be published in Germany ... it'S only the first which was not but on the "Index" after it was published (and has been censcored). So they WERE published... and were availble a while but than they got banned.
Usually when something is pitched as the "first" it's usually not technically the first. Usually there is something obscure or something that got in technically or through some back channel.
When they say "first" they usually mean in an above board and high profile way.
in the Old Blood, at the beginning there are vending machines where you can get Nuka-Cola like in Fallout
Didn't know that about "The Old Blood" originally being 2 separate DLCS. Shows how good of a publisher Bethesda is by not forcing Machine Games to release them separate for more money. That's very nice to hear.

Why do people keep attributing Bethesda to projects just because they funded them? Wolfenstein II was made by MachineGames using the id Tech 6 engine, nobody from Bethesda worked on it. It doesn't use the Gamebryo engine at all.

The New Order is the second Wolfenstein released in Germany. Wolfenstein (2009) has been released as well, but got pulled for having a swastika or two in the manual.
It did get a rating, all in-game swastikas were removed and it was in stores everywhere for about 1 month.
