  • Mingyur Rinpoche explains how practicing gratitude and appreciation opens us to a wealth of good qualities within ourselves that we normally overlook. He also gives us a simple practice to help us touch in to appreciation, encouraging us to rejoice in even the smallest of positive actions and attributes.

    Dear Rinpoche,
    1. I’m a Farmer and few years ago I planted some Tangerine saplings. This morning I saw some small Tangerines growing. I was truly grateful.
    2. Your video allowed me to appreciate about my breakfast.
    3. I’m grateful I’m surrounded by mountains, clear river and blue sky.
Thank you for your kind reminder !

Every night before I go to sleep, I think about three things from the passed day that I’m thankful and happy for. This practice helped me get out of the unhappy mindset caused by a panic disorder and subsequently helped me deal with the panic to the point where I’m now 1+ year panic attack free. And best of all - I never truly feel that I have a bad day anymore, because I can always easily find three things I’m happy for every night. I can really recommend this practice for anyone interested :)

@antonwimmer1316 thank you for sharing! I need this message for my child who worries about the next day at bedtime. I just read your comments to him and asked him to think about positive things that made him happy/thankful.

@@serg3484 I'm happy to hear that my comment might have given some inspiration, and I really hope your son will have a better time soon. For me this method have worked perfectly, although it took a little time to get used to it in the beginning.
I've also had periods in my life where I've been worried or afraid about the future. But things have always worked out for me and I've always learnt so much from these periods, that I'm now very thankful for them too. These troublesome periods will always disappear, sometimes you just have to wait and do your best until then :)

Yes, his holiness is a diamond himself. I feel Buddhists should know this. I do research on how Buddhism disappeared in Bihar. I realized it never disappeared from Bihar. Buddhists simply failed to research Indian Buddhism. They looked at Buddhism through the sphere of their own cultures searching for only the Buddha. Buddha had a myriad of names in different villages according to his teachings there. Example. His favorite teaching was 'Lust and desire causes pain. Remove lust and desire, and pain is removed'. Translated into Bihari (where the Buddha story took place) it is DHUKH HARAN meaning to remove dukha. Three dozen villages pray to DUKH HARAN Baba. Its clear that DUKH HARAN Baba is none other than the Buddha. Problem is Buddhists are searching only for the Buddha. In the real Vaishali the Buddha begged for alms. The locals there pray to 'BHIKHAINI' Baba (Beggar Baba). Bhikhaini was mispronounced by Buddhists as Bhikshu. Who is BHIKHAINI Baba. The Buddha no doubt. But people are searching for a man called Buddha. In the real Vaishali, in Beluha the Buddha suffered a sickness and felt he had grown old. The locals pray to 'BURHA' Baba (Old Baba). Who is BURHA Baba. The Buddha no doubt. In the real Vaishali the Lichavies pressurized Buddha not to die. They trailed him to Bandagawan pressurizing him not to die. To put pressure in Hindi is DABESHWAR. Three dozen villages around the stupa where Buddha gave the Lichavies his patra, the villagers pray to Baba 'DABESHWAR NATH' meaning the man who won the pressurizing game. It was the the Buddha no doubt as he gave the Lichavies his patra and succeded in sending them back. But Buddhists are searching for the Buddha. Forgive me for commenting out of the topic. I just wanted to impart this information to you.

I started practicing gratitude a few years ago, and more I keep doing that, better my life gets. I have healed my stomach from issues using stomach health affirmations and feeling grateful for good stomach health that, I visualized. I used it for 2-3 months. It’s a miracle! I also think that, gratitude is a “fuel” for the law of attraction. When we feel gratitude for something (even if we have just a little), we get more of it.

I appreciate that I laughed at myself today After I allowed myself to be angry with a self slip-knotting threaded string.
I'm grateful that I am aware that 90% of my emotion was only in mind.
I am grateful for watching you teach us that awareness is always here within me.
    Thankyou ❤️

Coming back after more than 3 weeks of practicing gratitude every morning. I concluded that, to develop gratitude, this exercise alone it's not enough. I am thinking that it needs to be practiced many times per day in order to perceive some changes. Now, I am planning to practice 3 times per day for one more week to see if there will bring anything "visible".

For me, what do I rely upon. It's all gone. Impermanent. I loved someone, they've gone now. Now I love someone else, but it's the same love. I love the forms, someone else loves theirs. It's the same. Same for everyone, of course we cling to forms but it's an underlying quality. Are we gifted is any thing granted? It's present... that's one takeaway. So maybe we all have separate homes, we don't want another even though the underlying essence of element is same; it's alien to each other even when it's the same thing. Sorry, same but different, a baby has no personality it's completely new just like all babies that's the essence until a heap of extra troublesome qualities emerge. Can't say I' m grateful very much for those. Basic whining and needing is pretty easy but mabe also off topic.

I was on a stressful family trip with my partners family, but even as tensions rose I found a beautiful sense of appreciation for the love retained underneath any arguments had. In addition the appreciation I could find to having clean drinking water, a cozy place to sleep, and delicious food all day :D

Ive been doing a daily gratitude practice for over 2 years now and it is SO helpful. On challenging days it helps you focus on basics (like being alive, having food on the table and a roof over my head) and on the blessed days its like storing up all that positive and special stuff for future memories and enhances happiness
