Good stuff Blackie, thank you. One idea I’ve noticed from experience. Before my knee gave up I spent a good deal of time in the woods with a camera. It’s as fun as hunting just so many places and times to go out, and it’s fun. But anyway; I often would forget to turn off or silence my phone. And of course it would go off at the worst time. So several years ago I downloaded natural animal sounds that are in my area to put in my iphone as ring tones. The sound of a Cardinal or Owl doesn’t usually scare everything off, while reminding me to silence my phone. Just a thought. Thanks a lot Brother

Blackie , I enjoy your videos. I was born and raised along the Texas Coast. My family never asked where we got the deer meat. It was consumed by 9 people. Normally we were hunting on our family’s land. To avoid prying eyes we used some of this type of stealth. Do you remember 6-12 mosquito repellent? Ir was a different mindset in the 60’s and 70’s. I’m saddened by people expecting a knife to split kindling wood. When was this considered normal? Reviews of very good knives being trashed because they wasn’t good splitters! Using a piece of wood to drive a blade thru hardwood is only in dire necessity. They never were meant for that type of work. If I were in a survival situation I would not want to break the blade of the only thing that may save my life. Thanks for your hard work on the many videos you produce.
From time to time, the local surplus store has fishing nets for sale from commercial boats. San Diego is the birth place of Chicken of the Sea. I like the nets to hold loads down on my pickup. Use it strung up and pile leaf or pine straw debris upon it. I find that the net itself can fuzz/blur, or break up a silhouette. At distance it can be just enough to hide behind. Hello from San Diego. Really interesting series. Brings back memories from fooling around in the woods as a boy in Virginia, Maryland, and at my Grandparent's place in Mississippi. Please keep it up
I like to hunt in natural blinds ,Dont like to move limbs or build a blind , Deer are so funny they know all most every stick in the woods . Be like a deer ghost of the forest . been turkey hunting sitting real still was there over a hour . looked over about 6 trees over a doe deer was laying at the base of a tree , I never new she was there . Made my day I didn't spook her up . Thanks for sharing brother , tell Bear I said hello

I've only hunted out of a shooting house one time on a friends of mine farm deer hunting. It was ok but I'm not used to it. I like to be able to get up and stalk and still hunt. Nice tips! Works very well for hunting on public lands. I like to have two or three brushy branches to set in the cleared out spot when I leave. Then it’s super quick and quiet to move them out of the way, next time I return.
My father hunted in the northern Adirondacks in NY. He knew (hunted with a few times) a guy who was not all there and would poach. He told me if anyone tried to follow or stop him he would stop turn around and fire at you! Thats one way to get away i guess. Anyway, back in the day I would of loved to come down to your old south and kick your rebel butt in a game of paintball! PS. you never mentioned if you ever visited Lake George or Ft. Ticonderoga?
Here in PA around me there is a very thick grass that grows 6-8 feet tall. It is especially common in the swampy areas. Great for hiding in, especially after it has rained it is very quite. My neighbor is in his 80s I let him cut through my property to sneak onto the property behind mine. Its posted and there are some big buck there. A few years ago he was spotted when he walked too close to the owners house. By the time the owners hopped on their quads this 80 year old man made it to the grassy swamp that is maybe 100 acres. They never found him. I asked how he got away in blaze orange. He said the people were driving all over the property trying to find him. He said when he heard the quads getting close he sat down in the grass and they drove right by. An 80 year old man escaped several people on quads by saying calm and using the property to his advantage. We still laugh about it.
Learn to read the land, listen to the critters and the wind! Become one of God's natural preditors! God gives man responsibility for all Earth's creatures!
I believe that's really not what orange is for. That's is the excuse though. And for safety of course it sounds great! And might really help you not get shot by other hunters. But. It's for the rangers to see you easily! To be able to find you and watch you from a distance more easily. That's the real intent behind it.
