Snow's also been perma-banned from both the US and Japan. Dude was a legit gangster, with most of his family being mobsters, while he was out boosting - apparently his mom once came to visit him, two of his cousins, and his dad in jail, at the same time.
This is about as legit gangsta as you can get as a Canadian.

Ahh, fellow Canadian here, thanks for this, I didn’t know about the family but I knew he was fascinated with the gangster lifestyle. Now it al makes sense. I didn’t think he himself was really hard core. I stand corrected, I m even more interested in learning about the life in his neighborhood back then. I was told it was North York amongst Irish Canadians and then Jamaicans started settling in the area and he developed a love of reggae (also rock)
Either way, definitely prefer Canadian gangsters 😉
      Thanks for the background info!

Oh yeah it’s early 90s! “Informer” is based on a real-life incident in which Snow was charged with two counts of attempted murder. However, those charges were later reduced to aggravated assault, and finally he was acquitted altogether.
And “a licky boom boom down” basically means he will hit down the “informer”

"Licky boom boom dem", means to 'take care' of an informer. This song was a true life incident for Snow. Liar sent him to prison for a while, case was lowered and finally dropped. I was wondering, if the guy being put in his cell at the end of the video was pretending to be 'the informer' and that is why Snow was smiling.....time to licky boom boom dem!!! -- MC Shan is also a good rapper. I think Snow is AWESOME.

Snow is Canadian (as am I) and I remember when this song came out. It was a HUGE hit. He grew up in Toronto and those in his neighobourhood were all from the islands (specifically Jamaica) so it's in his blood. The song is about “Informer” basically as an insult against those who he claimed “snitched on” him, which led to him doing an eight-month bid in the maximum-security Toronto East Detention Center. Owing to this, the hook of the track is based on Snow physically threatening the “informer” who got him locked down.

You've read the feedback about 90's verification, as well as, have looked up Snow's lyrics by now. I am a fan of his first album which this song is on. Maybe you should check his other video, "Girl, I've Been Hurt". Snow had great vocal ability back then, along with great choice of song theme variety on his first album to attract numerous fans of multiple genres. Although, now, I think that it might have been a small fault which kept him to 1 hit album. He could have stuck with Reggae fusion/hip-hop/dance throughout the first album to get the fans & followers. Then, in following albums, chose split the song genres (to point out his vocal ability, writing talent, along with mentality & personality), I believe he might have had a longer on-going, active career, as well as more hits. He has stated about keeping active for other musicians! Among everything, on RUclips & elsewhere, we all see that Snow has endless fans.

Song summary for those who don't speak Patois:
    1. A police informer snitched on Daddy Snow to the 5-0 for allegedly stabbing a man down the lane.
    2. Police violently arrested and violated him in prison but allowed one phone call which he used to call his love Tammy, who came and bailed him out.
    3. When you hear Daddy Snow, you think he come from Jamaica, but he was brought up in poverty in a ghetto at Toronto, Canada. His friends were pure Black people.

    the lyrics are
What's up man! Hey yo what's up!
    Yeah what's goin' on here?
Sick an' tired of five-oh runnin' up on the block here
    You know what I'm sayin'?
Yo Snow, they came around lookin' for you the other day
    Word? Word! Bust it!
    Informer
You know say Daddy me Snow me, I go blame
    A licky boom-boom down
'Tective man says see Daddy me
Snow me stabbed someone down the lane
    A licky boom-boom down .....
Police-a them-a they come and-a they blow down me door
One him come crawl through through my window
So they put me in the back of the car at the station
From that point on I reach my destination
Where the destination reached was the East Detention
Where they whipped down me pants and looked up me bottom
    So Informer
You know say Daddy me Snow me, I go blame
    A licky boom-boom down
'Tective man says see Daddy me
Snow me stabbed someone down the lane
    A licky boom-boom down .....
Bigger are them think them have more power
Them on the phone me said that on hour
Me for want to use it once to call me lover
Lover who me gonna callin' on the one Tammy
And me love her me heart down to my belly
Yes me Daddy me Snow, me are the cool and deadly
The one MC Shan and the one that is Snow
Together we are love'em as a tornado
    Informer
You know say Daddy me Snow me, I go blame
    A licky boom-boom down
'Tective man says see Daddy me
Snow me stabbed someone down the lane
    A licky boom-boom down ....
Listen for me ya better listen for me now
Listen for me ya better listen for me now
When me rock the microphone, me rock it steady
Yes sir Daddy Snow me are the Article Don
When me in at a dance them say, "Where you come from?"
People them say I come from Jamaica
But me born and raised in the ghetto
That's all me man want you to know
Pure black people man that's all I man know
My shoes used to tear up and my toes used to show
Where me born is the one Toronto, so
    Informer
You know say Daddy me Snow me, I go blame
    A licky boom-boom down
'Tective man says see Daddy me
Snow me stabbed someone down the lane
    A licky boom-boom down
Come with a nice young lady
Intelligent, yes she's gentle and irie
Everywhere me go me never left here at all
Yes, Daddy Snow me at the roam the dance man
Roam it in a dance in every nation
You'd never know, say Daddy me Snow
    Me at the Boom Shakata
Me never lay down flat in one cardboard box
Yes, Daddy me Snow I go reachin' out the top, so
    Informer
You know say Daddy me Snow me, I go blame
    A licky boom-boom down
'Tective man says see Daddy me
Snow me stabbed someone down the lane
    A licky boom-boom down ...
    Why would he?
Me sitting round cool with my dibby dibby girl
Police knock my door, lick up my pal
Rough me up and I can't do a thing
Pick up my line when my telephone ring
Take me to the station, black up my hands
Trail me down 'cause I'm hanging with the Snowman
What am I gonna do, I'm backed and I'm trapped
Slap me in my face, look all of my gap
They have no clues and they wanna get warmer
    But Shan won't turn informer
    Informer
You know say Daddy me Snow me, I go blame
    A licky boom-boom down
'Tective man says see Daddy me
Snow me stabbed someone down the lane
    A licky boom-boom down.....
    ..........
it rockt the Dancefloor back in the days, i was 18 then and i still remember the hole lyrics
Edit: A licky boom-boom down is slang and could be translatet in " I’ll knock you out"
