They said “he speaking Spanish” 😂😂😂 I have never laughed so hard! Glad y’all found this gem of a song tho!
I imploded with laughter too, almost woke up my baby 😂😂😂
I've even seen Jamaicans not understand him which blows my mind , I'm a whiteboy from Toronto in the 90s , had to know patois lol
After watching 12 other snow informer react videos, this one takes the cake 👏🏽🤣🤣🤣
The Spanish version ruclips.net/video/DiItGE3eAyQ/видео.htmlsi=7NecNny1a-wYGh7a
Snow is Canadian.. grew up in a predominantly Caribbean neighbourhood in Toronto.. and therefor the song is sung in English and Jamaican patois. I believe he also had been to Jamaica a fair bit too.. and from this he picked up the language. The song is about the snitch who informed on him to the police and got Snow sent to prison for 8 months. This was a reggae infused rap song. Snow was the real deal.. and the song hit big when he was doing his time in jail.. but he never seemed to be able to make a come back once he got out. This was his biggest hit. Thanks for reacting guys. All these years later.... and this Canadian still loves this track!!
He was banned from the U.S. due to his felony record, which is why he lost a lot of touring revenue
Yep
@@KathySandru That makes sense.. thanks for sharing!
Its an accent, not a language lol
@@chriss8718 Sorry.... but I have family in Jamaica.. so ... 🙄😬😒 Anyway.... "Jamaican Patois is an English-based creole language with West African influences, spoken primarily in Jamaica and among the Jamaican diaspora. A majority of the non-English words in Patois come from the West African Akan language. It is spoken by the majority of Jamaicans as a native language." The more you know!!! 😂 Here's the link...🙃 sigh... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamaican_Patois
It's really proof you're a product of your environment. A ginger white dude from Canada that grew up around Jamaican immigrants, and you get this. Incredible!
First off, the word informer, when used as a colloquial term, is synonymous with the word ‘snitch’. It therefore has a negative connotation, especially in relation to Jamaican patois, the dialect in which this track is chanted. As such, Snow penned “Informer” basically as an insult against those who he claimed “snitched on” him, which led to him doing an eight-month bid in the maximum-security Toronto East Detention Center. Owing to this, the hook of the track is based on Snow physically threatening the “informer” who got him locked down. He also references the criminal charges (two counts of attempted murder) which led to his incarceration. 🤗
Interesting! Thanks!
And describing his arrest and processing, one of the lines, is "dey look down me pants, look up me bot-tom"!
Painful accuracy right there
@@melissasaint3283 💗😁👌
The whole time I thought he was talking about licking bum bum.
I've never read such an intelligent comment on youtube before!
I haven't heard this song in decades. I think it was a hit in 1993..A monster hit back then.
1992
People considered it a bit of a joke, yet no one ever wanted to turn it off.
Jeremy C - We didn’t consider it a joke. It was a cool song
biggest selling raggae song of all times, acording to Guinnes, which snow is releated to,beer company and book of records.
I thought the song came out in 92
Snow is Canadian. Specifically, he grew up in a Toronto neighbourhood with a high Caribbean population, so unlike that other pale rapper who came out around that time, he wasn't faking. He's rapping with a Jamaican accent.
Bruh my dad met this guy in jail and shiii
These 2 guys do a great job and they exhibit positivity on their channel. Keep your negativity and your pale "opinion" to yourself. It makes you sound ignorant and not too bright...
Who are you talking about?
Not really an accent... it's more of a dialect.
@@dchristie455 man what on earth are you talking about💀 bro telling them that Snow wasn’t speaking “SPaNiSH” just in a Jamaican accent 🤨
No fellas this guy Snow is a white Canadian singing in Jamaican Patios. He had everyone fooled thinking he was from the island until the video came out on MTV!
Lmao - I love these guys too - but they thought he was speaking Spanish! Came to find or say this comment...
'hey, we don't speak the language, but...' 😂
Oh please, dont be so butthurt.
Not everyone, lol
💯!.
Not Spanish 😂.
He’s Canadian!!! After all these years and I still have no clue what he’s saying 😆 God I loved the 90’s!
He is Canadian. He grew up around Jamaicans and developed this style. It is English and if you look up the lyrics you can follow along. He had many great albums but this was his biggest song. He had other hits in Canada.
He wrote it while he was in jail for attempted murder. The song is about someone snitching on him. He obviously got out and became a star for a few years.
Even with the lyrics in hand, I can't keep up lol. He had some serious lyrical skills.
@@atlantic_love Listen to his other song "Legal" classic
Informer spent 7 weeks in the #1 spot of US Billboard Hot 100 in 1992. He wrote it in jail got out long enough to cut the track and make the video and was back in jail before he could even hear it get radio play.
He's Canadian btw def singing in English with a Jamaican patois
What is "patios"? JW
@@paperclips4113 patois is Jamaican slang. It’s pronounced pa twa
Thank You! I LOVE learning. ...
I didn't realize yall reacted to Snow this is a Toronto Classic 🇨🇦🍁 the Jamaican/Caribbean influence is massive here
Ok if you’re going to listen to this type of music you MUST listen to to Boombastic by SHAGGY Or ANYTHING by Shaggy. He is fabulous!!!’ This is the Reggae not to be confused with Reggaeton which infuses Latin music into it. Reggae is from Jamaica makes you want to dance it’s not r&b but you can feel how r&b captures reggae into its format.
That reminds me of some song I heard in Belize. 1990 ish..."In love with a woman nearly twice my age." Haven't thought about that in years
Reggaeton is Spanish Reggae mixed into Hip-Hop and most people who are Latin calls it Hip-Hop but it's more of Spanish Reggae.....
Every time one of my grandkids tattle on another I sing this song 🤣
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Man I haven’t heard that song in years! Snow is an Irish Canadian guy who sang in a Jamaican patois.
You should check out Jim Carrey’s impersonation of him and this song on the show In Living Color, it’s on RUclips funny as all get out! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I forgot about this and went and watched, oh man so good 🙏 especially with Jim Carrey also a Canadian white guy
I think about that every time I hear this song.
OMG... yes... forgot about that.. so good! Loved this song.. but equally loved Jim's parody!! 😂🙃
@@kimmiet1980 Me too!! Same way I feel about Lionel Richie’s song “Three Times A Lady” that Eddie Murphy did a parody of on SNL. Genius! 😂🤣😂
!!!!!! Yes!!!!! Also the Vanilla Ice one too. "Alright stop.....while I do up my laces. This kinda every show. Yo, I gotta learn how to tie a bow!!!"
I’m surprised Snow hasn’t thanked you for the video yet. He seems like a cool guy. Always wanted to meet him.
I've met him. On two different occasions. He really is a nice guy
I love how he can flow from singing to rap with style.
Con Calma by Daddy Yankee borrowed heavily from Informer & even featured Snow. It was an excellent collab with a latino flavour that brought new life to this mega hit from the early 90's.
I haven’t heard this song in years. It’s so fun! And I adore you twins! You bring me joy.
Snow is Canadian. He is using an island accent. Hip Hop genre.
Beautiful pup!
Y’all need to take in more dancehall…particularly huge here in NYC…a whole genre that you have not really taken in
Dancehall is a party, a hangout, a cookout, a carnival, family get-together, something to go for when your original plans fall through --but turns out to be better than your original plans... it's more than a vibe, more than mindset: it's a lifestyle.
Yeah these dudes don’t seem to be too familiar with Dancehall. They need a crash course. Some Supercat and Buju for starters.
Jamaican patois spoken in the Toronto hood he grew up in. A lot of white boys picked it up (including me) back in the day.
Everyone was confused by this song. They actually released a second version of this music video, with subtitles.
LOL, who's everyone? 🇯🇲🇯🇲
Exactly! I am from Barbados and I understood at age 13
Such a cute little puppy. 🥰 Show the other dogs Tim.✊✊
That Pup is everything!💕
As someone that knows this song word for word couldnt help laugh when they said hes speaking spanish.
I’m Jamaican and I could understand to some degree what he was saying him just kind a stutter his words and talks fast so it might be hard to pick up
This reminds me of Tom Hanks’ son speaking in a Jamaican patois.😹
Actually his most respected dancehall hit is "Anything for you" You all should check it out.
One of the best reggae collabs - so many big ones on that song
Bernie Man, Buju, Terror Fabulous and Louie Culture absolutely rocked this song and Nadine Sutherland's vocals were everything.
@@deec.3371 It's still the biggest vibe..
The whole 12 Inches of Snow album was lit
I was 17 and we rode around blaring this song and making up our own words because we couldn't understand a word he was saying🤣 Huge hit back then!
I still do now

I've had this song in heavy rotation for the last several months after my girlfriend got into it. Reggae dancehall style vocals. A lot to discover in that genre going back to 60s Jamaica.
Aww the puppy is almost as cute as y'all 💕🐕
He's actually Canadian but was heavily influenced by reggae music, hence the style of this song.
This song is forever linked to another one that I was listening to at the same time when I was a kid "Here Comes the Hotstepper". I've karaoked the latter....but "Informer" remains on my karaoke bucket list. LOL
Yes Sir. I love all that old school reggae/soca. Ini Kamoze, Chaka Demus & Pliers, etc. Great music from a great decade. Being from Toronto myself, this song/artist just hits different.
Omg love that you showed the pup 🐶😍
OMG THE PUPPY!!! 😍
I remember MTV had him on for an interview or something and had a bouncing ball graphic that showed the lyrics to the song. Total guilty pleasure song of 1992.
LOVE YOUR PUPPY DOG! Two yaps and a growl = banger❣
Beautiful Pittie pup. I have a 3 year old just like yours and she is amazing and smart! Pits are great dogs to have if trained and treated right they are best!
When I was 12 this song dropped... only video on MTV to come with lyrics! He's legit dance hall though.. very underrated
I don't know about any one else but the best part of this video was that beautiful dog you had in your arms. :)
Haven't been on ur channel for a while. You guys are looking great.I see your subs r up to 881,000.Wow! Congrats on ur success. Happy for you both. Now, next goal is a million.Lesssss go!

That puppy was sooooo adorable.
Another 90s hit, because I’m feeling nostalgic, is ‘Lightning Crashes’ by Live. Please listen to that. :))
Chokes me up every fucking time I hear it...🥺 -- The 90's were amazing - one of the best reasons were the music scene.
You know a songs a banger when you just sit back and Jam ! No need to keep stopping just Jam !
Snow is the OG mumble rapper. Everyone in the US loved this song but only knew 5 words of it. 🤣😂
Yes!! 🤣
Lick ya boom boom down?😂😂😂
Informer, you know semiyakoplaya.
Or something.

Truth!
Nice flashback to 90s hip hop and Jamaican ragga dancehall. He had another hit with “I Would Do Anything Just for You,” but that was bigger among reggae fans. Good memories!
1:39 “I know he’s speaking spanish”, with the confidence that he said that.😂
P.S "he's speaking Spanish " cracked me up 🤣🤣👍 love you guys!!
First, all thanks to you both for your awesome reaction videos. He is saying, "I Licky Boom Boom Down" which is just as suggestive a lyric as it seems to be. He's speaking reggae, dancehall singing. He wrote this while he was in jail on a double murder charge, which he beat. He was released from jail to mega popularity and international stardom./ He spent SEVEN WEEKS AT NUMBER 1 on Billboards Hot 100 (Top 40). Anyway, the dialect he is using starts with a "P'. I can't remember what it's called but the influx of Jamaican families moving into his housing project that he was raised in contributed to his singing style. Peace guys. And thank you for your brilliant reaction videos. I love seeing younger people experience classic music. Could you maybe do Ram Jam , "Black Betty"?
Yes! Black Betty!!!
This song was fire when it came out and still fire today. Loved the reaction!
He got so much shit for creeping into reggae as a white guy but he killed it and opened the eyes to a new demographic that started listening to more reggae because of him for sure.
When this video came out, MTV used to run the lyrics across the bottom of the screen.
thumbs up for the pup!!
This was a big hit. Snow was a one hit wonder at least in the United States. Some of the most popular songs in music history were sung by one hit wonders. They are a mystery indeed. Gr8 reaction fellas. 🎶 🎸 🎶
Danced to this in the 90s on electric avenue in calgary...good times.
OMG. I used to loooove this song when I was a kid. Never understood the lyrics or his cadence, but I didn't care. Btw... love your adorable puppy! ❤ 🐶❤
Love this song! Beautiful puppy!
"lick your bum bum down" is a Caribbean term for I'm going to knock you off the planet ...or get rid of you .....to knock somebody down. He doesn't look like it but he was the real deal Gangsta in the day. He recorded this, but was actually in the can on an assault charge when it blew up and started getting airplay! Snow was charged and imprisoned for attempted murder but was later released.
He grew up in a mostly Jamaican neighborhood. He's not putting on an act, this is what he listened to and was around all the time!
**Can you react to "99 Red Balloons" ** - I like the cover more than original. This actually happened! Released that USSR was something like 19 seconds from nuclear war with USA, for no reason! It was a mistake, but it was THAT close!
Sh** was real and would have been more REAL!!!
**PS I always loved this current song playing ** Sounds like Shaggy, but speaks with that distinct, Hispanic quickness. Love it!
(BYW thanks for reading)!
Adorable puppies 🐶!
The puppy 🥺😭🥰
FUN FACT: The first time he heard his own song being played on the radio was when he was in Prison
This song is about him being accused of something he didn't do.
He's basically saying he's gonna kill the guy for ratting him out on something he's innocent of.
So cute. All three of you! ❤💋
Snow is from Jane/Finch corridor. He raps the patois . Big Jamaican influence. I have several friends who speak in the same regional patois! That’s where I learned to “wind it”. He’s the real!
Man, I haven't heard this in a month of Sundays !! This was his only big hit. I wonder what he's doing now. Nice reaction and choice of song. This is considered reggae.
