I feel like this whole guest issue started when we had several weeks of back to back guest episodes. Those episodes all felt like the same thing just talking about RUclips for weeks on end did get repetitive and boring. Now that we’re having breaks in between guest episodes does make them feel special again compared to those back to back guest appearances which felt bland in comparison to normal episodes
The real issue is that the boys are horrible at asking interesting questions, which leads to guests that have very interesting things to say laying the ground work for the episode and the boys reacting and asking questions mostly about those or adjacent things.
If the guests are some "random RUclipsr/streamer" that do basically just the same content as everyone else and not much besides that though, they don't talk about interesting stuff and the boys don't ask questions for other, more interesting topics, not to mention that they seemingly know very little about a bunch of guests, which makes it worse.

@@digichu007 If they were good interviewers that shouldn't really be a problem. Compare TT to something like early Hot Ones episodes where he used to interview youtubers/niche celebrities and there's a mountain of difference. Even with the wing gimmick Sean Evans is able to direct attention on the guests and even make the viewer care even if you didn't know who they were and what they did before viewing the episode.
@@HyperGamer14 unfortunately i agree. i usually skip the guest episodes unless it’s chris, someone they’re really close to (like aki or sydney), or someone they had a prior friendship with like felix. it does get repetitive and that’s not their fault, they aren’t good interviewers and that’s fine. their best episodes are just them talking to each other like friends, and so when they have friends on the episode then it’s actually fun to listen to.
Chris is basically that cool uncle you like that tells you all these cool things he’s done but he just complains about all the things that were annoying in it, he’s just a loveable grumpy old British guy

From what I've gathered is that people don't like it when there are guests that are RUclipsrs or streamers and they just talk about RUclips or streamer stuff on the podcast (The only exception is fellow Geek Plus talent like Emily and Daidus as well as Chris Broad, I guess cause they're close with the bois so the audience is much more comfortable with them and more tolerant if they talk about RUclips stuff). Guests that aren't mainly RUclipsrs or streamers or at the very least RUclipsrs/streamers that don't talk much about their work as an online content creator (like Pete) on the podcast are much more well received.

Don't forget RUclipsrs who talk about their interesting niche content, like for example NileRed who spent the entire podcast talking about all the shenanigans that he got into by being interested in chemistry, which is what his channel is about. The NileRed episode is for sure one of the best guests episodes ever.

@@tendo649 Lud and Pewds are probably the exceptions because Lud is good friends with Connor and Pewds is good friends with Joey. I think it is just clear when there is someone on the show that makes sense or has a lot of overlap with TT or people who know TT bois well. Like, ProZD made a lot of sense because he does a lot of anime and jrpg content and Michael Reeves just had a similar chaos to him that worked with the bois. Then there are the people that felt a little bit off, like the fortnite youtubers. Like I actually enjoyed those episodes more than I thought I would, but I wasn't as invested in it as I was the Cold Ones episode cause they also do a podcast and just jive with the bois. Connor even mentions this in the extended clip, not everyone is a great guest or makes an interesting guest. That isn't to say they are bad people or just aren't funny, but certain people work of each other better. I think a good example in contrast to the Michael episode is Lily. Her episode was fine, but she just clearly wasn't as comfortable and more reserved in the TT episode, where if you watch her on the OfflineTV podcast she is really funny and more out there because she is surrounded by people she is comfortable with. Realize this got a little rambley but in summary it just depends on the person.
Chris and the boys do have a long history with one another; literally since the very start of the podcast (ep 5) so it would make sense that fans like a recurring character that charming. Chris himself is a very notable figure in the foreigner x japan content field so the AniTuber space with the biggest powerhouses in it would make a bigger impact to the fans than like the OTV people or whatever (ofc controversial guests are still a thing but thats besides the point)
So you could say that Chris is...quite affable.
Offline TV is just boring altogether. They are react and shout style creators, where as Trash Taste like to think about things.

the problem is that they have very little chemistry with most of the guests that they speedrun through when they go on tour.
I don't mind the guest episodes, but some of them lack a "why should I care about this" for me. There have been people from the anime industry, Kaho, Pete, Ladybeard, all kinds people who have something interesting to tell. I'd pick that any day instead of "Hey random youtuber #69 how did you get into youtube?"
If you don't care, then you shouldn't. But somebody else might.

Maybe there are indeed people that like RUclipsr guests and that's fine, but when 60% of all episodes are just an endless stream of random youtubers talking about RUclips stuff it becomes a bit too much to endure. You'd also be upset if your favorite podcasts suddenly started making widely unpopular episodes one after the other with no sign of stopping.
I think one of the biggest things is research. It would allow the podcast to be much more in depth. Instead of “Who are you? What are some cool things you’ve done?” it’s “Tell us more about this cool thing you did.”
This will probably not happen. They tend to spend less effort on certain portions of the podcast like really prepping properly. They’re probably too busy, who knows @@rakoonshampoo2608

@@saitokazuta3887Even more than the entertainment value of any given guest, there’s a lot of people who just hate certain creators. This causes people to dislike an episode purely because it exists and not because it isn’t entertaining. Some viewers/listeners disliking Pokimane was probably the biggest case with them getting spammed to not release her episode and people spamming her about how she shouldn’t be on the show.
@@caster269 thats not why. They dislike it because a lot of the guest episodes are the same. People prefer guests like ladybeard, Pete, and Yoshihiro because they have stories to tell. While youtubers or people they aren't friends with usually rely on the boys to bring up topics.
I think the important thing to acknowledge is that it's not an issue with the guests, it's that the boys are unfortunately really bad interviewers all around as a collective. Joey has improved on his interviewer skills recently(compare his recent interview to the one where he interviewed the Yakuza dude and wow) but collectively they're not great at it. They have stated they hang out with the guests beforehand before so I don't think that's the problem I think the problem is the lack of genuinely good questions being asked at times so it just defaults to youtuber/streamer stuff. This even happens during the regular episodes where the boys just end up talking about work which does get a bit draining when you watch back to back episodes about work and then more work.
I think more fault lies to the team. Boys can't be up to date with everything that the public is interested in, the research team needs to find out all the controversy and stuff. Not only that the questions that would best drive the unique knowledge skills experience ( ngl the recent guests have been mostly just youtubers/ streamers sharing the same damn life story and answer so the diversification is needed as well)
I just get really frustrated when a guest starts answering a question and they get interrupted with another question. Just let them talk, dammit!

The Real problem is Trash Taste tries to get as many podcasts out with these guests just cuz they're in the area . So you guys don't have time to think of questions or hang in japan with so it ends up being the most boring and typical questions especially when it comes tow twitch & youtubers
people like Chris because he has a Personality and you aren't gonna ask him boring revenue questions
They don’t really think of questions beforehand. I think they just need to skip introductions and just go straight to asking mundane stuff. Best if they hang out with the guest first before filming. TT boys are very transparent when they are not that close with their guest.
The title is super clickbaity, it's like a 10 second clip of this nearly 10 minute video. I'd just leave the title as meme review as we already got a clip with pretty much this exact title with the segment actually shown in full the other day.
also the issue is that the focus of the podcast went from Japan and Japan-esque topics to general influencer/internet culture podcast with a lot of travel talk so people that watched initially for the Japan/Japanese stuff aren't going to be watching for the influencer talk yet... it seems to be the direction it's all going now.
Then wait for the Japan oriented stuff? Go listen to Chris' podcast instead of bitch that you only want Japan oriented stuff, it's NOT an issue that they want to do other topics

For me personally the guest episodes can either be the best episodes they've released, or the worst. Honestly though, even if they are the latter there still isn't anything wrong with them, in my opinion. I just listen to them in the background whilst doing something else, and then if an interesting topic comes up I give it my full attention.

Dude the videos dont need to be this short. Conner reacts to memes for hours, and sure this are just the best highlights, but sometimes even the highlights are cut short without showing his full reaction. I just want to see more of moke reacting to memes. Just make the meme videos longer and take my money 🙏🙏🙏

I didn't even know there WAS drama over this😮. They never really seemed to pick any guests that would seem that controveraial to me🤔. I honestly think people are just overreacting.
My filipino girlfriend says that the "POV when connor has an opinion on trash taste" is from a filipino soap opera called "Wildflower" there's always gun scenes like this in that show.
Imho, the guest episodes are fun and good if they already have chemistry (like Syd, Chris, Iron, Kaho, etc) sometimes it gets awkward with other guests.
The Ladybeard episode is still one of my all time favorite episodes, full stop.
I never hated guest episodes yeah we get less tangents and more focus on the guest but that's the point. If you dont like the guest just skip the episode not really a big deal.

Best guests are those the boys are truly close with. Little introduction required (whether the viewers know the guest or not) and more random topics than about RUclips algorithm or content creation.
My favorite guest episode from their time in LA was Anthony Padilla's one tbh. Could be because he just blended in so well with the bois and it felt like they were friends for years before hand
A Trash Taste Moment of All Time
Sometimes guest episodes turn into a giant interview which can make it kinda boring. I usually don’t listen to the full eps of guest episodes besides a couple like Chris/Lud perhaps
Chris is one of the best guests the boys have, and he's by far the best foreign Japan youtube channel. He's a very nuanced and educated person with a great deal of knowledge about the culture. He's also really good at filming and producing tv-grade documentaries.

Basically: it’s this weird collab IQ walking on egg shells idea. Where you might want to collab with these people again so you’re not going to say anything left field that might offend them.
But that’s why episodes work. Like Pete, Nilered and Cold Ones since they just start out of left field. Especially with Cold Ones when Connor and Garnt felt so awkward. Because they had in their mind of “oh better not offend them” when they don’t know about what they’ve done already. Chris works because he’s a mate, shooting the shit and whatever.
I know it's easy enough to find but maybe link to the subreddit in the description. Just makes the impulse to go check it out that much easier

See Nile, Michael and some others did talk about RUclips but it was received well because they didn’t just complain, they showed us a different side to RUclips some of us didn’t know existed. And recently boy boy. Chris is fine because you guys can tell him shut up or he will say stop complaining coz you make money. The banter is there with Chris. That lazar beam guy was just fucking dry

Personally not a fan of the guest episodes (excluding Chris) because I think the reason why Trash Taste is so successful is because of how fluid the show is, you guys aren't committed to one topic and there's a lot of flexibility, nothing feels forced. Because you guys cover so many topics, you can have an episode where you guys discuss 9 or 10 things and chances are a viewer is gonna like at least 3-4 of those topics. The guest episodes take away your greatest strength because they often feel like Q&As or interviews rather than you guys just freely discussing a variety of things. I don't hate the guest episodes because I know it's easier for you guys to not have to worry about always having something to talk about weekly.
