I ate from there my aunt used to bring them. I mean like 15 yrs ago. There good. But not worth staying out all night no food taste so good u need to stay outside and wait.
Hahaha it’s Texas baby we know what’s great and we support local business and we’ll have fun doing it. Keep going on thank you flying saucer, pie company.
I grew up near the flying saucer and I made my visit in the summer. I moved 25 miles away and sure miss the pies during the holiday season. The strawberry pie is a summer favorite and the pecan my fall favorite. The best pecan pie hands down!!!
I didn't think I liked banana cream pie until I had THEIR banana cream pie. Their pies are so good I'd get my daughter a pie for her birthday each year rather than a cake.
When i bought my first pie it was in 2005 it was $10.00 now in 2024 bought it again $20.00 and the taste is the same. All i can say is that there worth every penny.
Up the street a couple blocks is the legendary Barbecue Inn. Famous for its Fried Chicken. I used to work in the business park across the street from both before retiring. We would sometimes get pies for meetings. Just delicious!
Before watching the video I can tell y’all that it’s flying saucers pies.. grew up eating their pies and going to the car wash down the street… BEST PIES IN THE CITY
@@dexterwestin3747 my comment wasn’t towards particular city or establishment. Lines for great are all over the State. In Dallas, it’s Hutchins, Lockhart’s
It's not worth, i get it if you've never had flying saucer b4 and have to try it. But if we were good friends I'd tell you don't waste your time or gas. I'm sure there a ton of DFW bakeries that make better pies. Their reputation is based on lines and local tv news always showing the massive line, kind of like a nightclub.....everyone wants to go the one with the big line even though they've never been to that club before. People assume it must be good if ppl wait hours/days, and then because they want to like it to justify all their time, they lie to themselves and say how good it was. 100% honesty, some of the frozen Marie Calendar pies at the grocery store are better.
I bake a pretty good pie too but it’s not just about standing in line for pie. It’s a really fun atmosphere there in the Thanksgiving pie line at Flying Saucer, everyone is happy and mingling and meeting new people and swapping stories. It’s a fun holiday tradition for many.
What's wrong with people - ain't no way I'm waiting in a line a mile long or camping out overnight for a damn pie! I used to live in Houston and got excellent homemade pies at The House of Pies on Kirby and didn't have to camp out for it - place has been there since at least the '60's that I know of so they must be doing something right!
THANK YOU for being sane. I'm not going to tell someone they shouldn't like flying saucer, but if you do there are a ton of better pie places out there that will blow your mind. Very average pies at best. I wouldn't go there if there was no line, much less wait in the cold.....
Can’t believe I missed this on my trip through Texas, including Houston! But I did get to Royer’s and a few other famous pie shops so I wasn’t hurtin’ any… 😂
I buy pies from Winn-Dixie and eat them by myself. This time of year I like pumpkin and pecan pie, during summer I like key lime pie. Alone. It's no fun if others are involved.
I didn’t see any pies with meringue……and I didn’t see my favorite pie, although I did see the basic part of it, only need to add two ingredients to the chocolate cream pie at the end, when it’s time to add the butter, add 3/4 cup of roughly chopped pecans and 2/4 cup coconut, and just like that you have a German Chocolate Pie! Don’t forget the meringue!
It's a commercial egg liquid separator machine used in commercial kitchens like at HEB that strains the solids from the liquids. The reason you haven't heard of it is they cost about 5 grand.
BYE FAR,,,,, HOUSTON'S BEST PIES ANYWHERE,,,, NO ONE EVEN COMES CLOSE,,,YOU HAVE TO HAVE AT LEAST ONE OF THEIR PIE'S BEFORE YOU DIE,,,,JUST SAYING.....🥧🥧🥧🥧🥧🥧👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Once you taste one of those pies you’ll know how overrated it is. Take the strawberry pie in that video, you have the basic pie shell, half-filled with canned industrial strawberry-flavored gel, whole raw/cooked strawberries, and then cool-whip on top. Is that really what hundreds of ppl spent days camped outside for??😭
My brother bought 3 this year and they were not thay great. They were too sweet and the crust was too soggy. We have 3 different kinds and cherry was the only one I would say i enjoyed due to the tart taste.
I’ve had their pies. They are good, but not THAT good to wait in line multiple hours for. Those people in line look like they need to work out and call Jenny Craig instead of eating all the pie. I saw in the video that they use canned pumpkin pie mix. I have made it with an actual small orange pumpkin before. They said that their pies do not have any preservatives. That canned pumpkin is full of preservatives. 😂😂😂 You might as well buy the can and make it yourself.
I will never enjoy a pie again after knowing about this place I live in Florida and dropping my store pie and driving to Houston is my only option thanks to this commercial
I haven’t been there in years, but I can confirm that those pies are delicious! You can never leave with just one. 🥧
I ate from there my aunt used to bring them. I mean like 15 yrs ago. There good. But not worth staying out all night no food taste so good u need to stay outside and wait.
I love this keep showing love to our local business
30 Thousand Pies in 3 Days. That's got to be a record. 😊
Their strawberry pies are certainly out of this world. Absolutely amazing.
I KNEW this had to be Flying Saucer! The best damn strawberry pie, ever! Happy Thanksgiving, y'all!
go try house of pies Strawberry pie. It's better and you don't have to wait for hours/days in the cold.
That’s awesome! I’m so happy for that business!! Happy Thanksgiving all!

From H-Town, can confirm.
My bestie is one of the owners and I worked there for two holiday seasons. It’s amazing!!!
I didn't think I liked banana cream pie until I had THEIR banana cream pie. Their pies are so good I'd get my daughter a pie for her birthday each year rather than a cake.
Home made pie is the best
Winn-Dixie has good pies.
I pay for them.
Only to eat them alone. In my safe space bedroom where I keep all the other pies.
Exactly
True and Flying Saucer is home made out of this world
.....especially when you could bake one from scratch faster than your can wait in line and get one.
Been giing to flying saucer since i was a kid. 47 now, used to stand in line for hours. They are really that good !!!
Been going here for over 30 years. LOVE IT!!!!!
We do everything bigger and better in Texas !,,,
I love the fun crowds🤗waiting and mingling is part of the fun.
Pie!!!!
I found this as I am preparing to create 3 pies.
Texas❤️
Her reaction said it all ❤

Happy Thanksgiving everyone ❤
We use to live 2 streets behind the Flying Saucer. We could walk over and get a pie except at Thanksgiving. Great pies - chocolate cream.
Let’s not forget people line up in the very early morning hours for our BBQ too😂😂
and tamales
@ Right!
In Houston? Where? Truth BBQ? Corkscrew?

So, what kind of machine lets you throw eggs in with the shell, never heard of that before.
That was butter

It’s called an egg shelling machine. I had to look it up. It’s on RUclips.
⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️ I was looking for this comment!! Haha when I saw her dump all those eggs in there with the shell😂😂
Got mine early!!! The best ❤
Oh, haha, I just went and picked up my pies from there on Monday.
I just knew it was Flying Saucer...they do have great pies
They look delicious!
They have the absolute BEST pineapple pie ever!!!!
That place has been there for YEARS. To me its a Houston landmark. Not only great pies but an institution of tradition.
I live in the DFW area, I would have to drive several hours just to try these pies. Oh, well.
It’s just 3ish hours. Not that bad.

Freak yes
Used to go there years ago, they are great.
I’m a sucker for a pie 🥧 thanks for sharing😋
Pies are good and delicious
I can vouch for Flying Saucer's pies, they have the best pies lines around the corner. They need to open a south side location!
Got me seven of them yesterday 😊🥧🤘🏽
They have pumpkin pie ....
A Hton staple , some of the best pies hands down .
I'm originally from Houston TX. 🎉
My dog is, too!
Not worth it
I used to buy pies there back in the 80s when I worked nearby. They had quite a following then also...
It ain't that serious 😂
Reminds me of the movie "Waitress"with Keri Russell❤😂Looks like the same pies 🥧🥧🥧🥧🥧🥧🥧
Very tasteful reporting 🥧
You know what, hell yeah.
Awesome
So easy to make a pie….lol. Would never wait in an insane line for a pie……glad I am an excellent baker!
How many people wait in line for yours?

May I please have that strawberry one never had them 😢? ❤
Ive been a customer since the 90s
No way, learn to bake your own pies. And you’d never have to pitch a tent and sleep outside a pie shop.
most of those people are buying a lot of pies, they aren't there for just 3 or 4 pies.
They must only be open during the holidays. Cause i passed once during the week months ago and it was dead. No one in the parking lot.
Their website says they are open Tuesday thru Saturday, I'm sure there isn't an insane line most days.
it's dead during non holiday times because it's very overrated. I know tons of bakeries that are much busier on normal days than flying saucer.

If everyone loves the pies and they run out, then they should limit the customers to 2 pies!!!

Yay! Make that bank, little neighbor bakery!!! 😊
Idk is giving "that's the way the cookie crumbles" IYKYK 🥴
Ive been there a few times.
The shop was in my neighborhood in Houston
Good pie but not worth getting in that long line. I’ll make my own thank you very much.
Same here
I’d break in and steal all the pies and sell them for ten times the price!
@@thehungrygoldfish There'll be nothing to steal since they're not made ahead of time by much.

Tipping pie . Is anyone remember? Back in the 90’s Dallas Texas.

That's a sign of a good economy 😊
So many businesses have filed bankruptcy
I guess you have to Google the city and address.
Do they sell these kinds of pies the rest of the year too?
The U.S. economy must really suck.
It's not all that, had it so many times
I'm so glad the company is successful, but it's so silly to me to not just bake your own pies.
There's eggshell in the pies!! Hard pass...
Wondered the same thing! Dumping whole eggs into the mix?!

Pies look good but all employees should wear hairnets, gloves and masks.
Ok
How long for uber eats to deliver this to Maine…
Can it be after Thanksgiving? My friend can take it as far as Belfast.
Damn their pies are expensive. Quick google search shows they're 20+ up 6 bucks compared to five years ago
My mother first brought me to houston in the late 1970’s. I have never had a Flying Saucer pie. I will not stand in line.
Why do newscasters choose to represent one's state by interviewing the toothless person who responds with poor grammar? Ridiculous.
Are strawberries still sweet in November? Nothing is worth that line.

Americans think apple pie is an American thing, but it originates in England in the 1300's where as apple pie didnt get to America until the 1700's.
