14:32 when your a mid-tier character with a terrible model in an underplayed game about to either get your shield broken by an absurdly overpowered, over-ranged up tilt or get shield poked by a forward smash contemplating your existence:
would it be possible to only put the starting character in the title? knowing that someone is going to switch could potentially be a spoiler. like, say the title is player 1 (falcon, kirby, dk) vs player 2 (kirby), if player 1 wins two games as falcon then now we know he's going to lose the next two games at least. i know this didnt happen in this video but it's something that could potentially happen. i know it seems silly to be worried about spoilers for an event that already happened but i don't get to see a lot of the tournaments live because of work, so i just end up watching vods. and part of the experience is ruined if i go into the vod knowing who is going to win specific games.
Farmer Zak Lol you use a stopwatch. I don't understand why they don't have a time limit though because the game is pretty slow sometimes, because the neutral is very slow paced and no one has the balls to go in for an attack.
Hitsuga Aorusaki True but with at least maybe a 10 to 15 minute timer you can have a reasonably fun game being played. Most time limits are generous and you never run out the clock any way (melee's 8 minutes are almost never completely elapsed) , but it's good for one to be there just in case.
8:13 Me. DK is my main, I mean, strong aerials+no landing lag?= succcess! His specials are good, his charge punch can be a hefty combo finisher, slap can setup for an aerial combo, his up b... we don't talk about, he's really good (in my eyes!)!
I think Tacos should actually work on DK as a Kirby counter. Not that the match-up's in DK's favour, but proper patience and spacing coupled with DKs insane range could prove to be a feasible strategy. He was up 4 stocks to 2 at some point.
+A Dagger Yeah and as a DK main, even if I'm less good than Tacos, I saw a few tech chase mistakes, not going from grabs but trying down-b or fancy platform stuff when you have guaranteed dash-grab on any tech-roll from Kirby. Best example is at 14:22 where Tacos could actually have won the game just by being patient, grabbing and back-throwing (at 82%, Kirby getting backthrown from top platform would be the stock). I would have done that successfully 99% of the times in that very situation. Of course I'm worse than him at many things but not at that. He chose a needlessly committing option instead.
you know there is two unlockable dk choices first 1 : glowing dk : how to unlock him: while using the b button that lets dk swing his arm around and around keep on doing that untill dk stops know he is glowing note: if you press the b button he will due his swing attack and stop glowing and after you win a match this process can repeat itself if you want to do it again this same glowing goes for kirby too. zombie donkey kong: how to unlock him: just simply play vs.mode on team battle and select green there you will see a zombiefied donkey kong note: the same green zombie look goes for kirby too.
+Jane Rogers Actually, top level Kirby needs a considerable amount of tech to have optimal movement, since Kirby is fairly slow, both in the air and on the ground. Yes, up-tilt combos are brain-dead, but playing Kirby at a top level is far from an easy task.
I heard in a different video of one of tacos games that it is something with his control scheme. he doesn't actually mean to do those taunts but it happens anyways.
TheEbonyStallion he meants to taunt for sure. taunt cancelling is easier on hori because of button placement, so he's just incorporated that into his overall movement because it's funny/cool
+Iron “The armored Avenger” here it's on purpose, though sometimes there are accidental taunts due to the L button being more accessible. But if this happened it would be a standing taunt and you'd know it was accidental
Did elgatochurro just delete that entire thread? Wow... I don't find these matches entertaining, but you have to admire the comboing skill of these two players. They know how the 64 works with its large hitstun and combo game, and can apply it on reaction in an instant. Amazing.
competitve smash: spam now on n64: spam... what ever happened to just running at someone and punching them? this games about smashing people but no..... they gotta spam... like... why??? jsut fuckin fight.... its nto evne entertaining to watch...
elgatochurro what do you mean spam? Some characters have better options than others. So if you mean grab spam or up b spam from dk that is because those are some of his best options. Kirby's typical best options are up-tilt and strong aerials moves. Also the reason why they don't run up and "punch" each other is that moves can be punished if they are too slow or have subpar hitboxes.
. pdi dude... ive palyed this game as much as ive palyed soul calibur 2, ive played the abolsutle hell out of it... and i play better than this... without the cheap edge grabbing and the boring af to watch edge fighting... this games abotu smashing... and the smahisng is far better than every other versions but no... they wanna spam... jsut fuckin fight... i'd bet id bet them easily if i could jsut play for a week again. just becuase kirby's "best moves" are this and that does not mean that he cant do anything else but spam it, its boring to watch, just fight... stupid kirby cant even fly back to the stage... idgaf abot your wanna be science mumbo jumbo, its a damn video game, play it. this si boring to watch... i cant even consider this skill... its like watching two people push the same two buttons simultaniously to win... its not entertainign and doenst even take effort...
Yristul and you're a poor player that ruins games by creating a stupid metagame... look at 1:40, so far behind.... and how does he come back? BY AGRESSING, not evne spamming... in fact, he wouldve had a great chance at winning had he not suicided... and you wanna act like you know this game better than me...
Did I say anything about knowing the game at all? No. I was talking about your comment. It looks like a nine year wrote it. You're screaming "THEY SHOULD DO THIS BECAUSE THIS IS BETTER FOR ME TO WATCH AND I THINK THIS WAY IS BETTER" when someone replies with an answer. You literally said "wanna be science mumbo jumbo" when confronted with the word hitbox. How can you claim to be good at any sort of fighting game not knowing about one of the most basic terms, hitbox? Also, you just want people to run into eachother, throwing out bad, laggy moves that the other could easily punish instead of trying to put yourself in a good position by throwing out better moves to try to combo into others, or deny the other entrance?
***** Learn the controls, learn how to react fast and properly and you can apply combo's in the other Smash games because of skill and not because of a 10-year hitstun duration.
BadLuckBrian The reason why you think stuff isn't happening if because you don't understand the neutral game in 64. Punishes are too hard on the receiving part, so the neutral is extremely tense. The spacing here is amazing, but comments like yours are a huge RED FLAG that show that you don't even understand what's going on to appreciate it. It's not a bad thing, but it's like expressing your opinion in politics if you don't know what the fuck you're talking about. Just sit down and listen.
It's one of those games where the better you get at it, the more spectator friendly it becomes. You really need to know how the spacing works in this game to appreciate the neutral game at high levels. Also, Kirby is generally speaking a campy character. His up-tilt is one of the best and safest moves in the game; you can't just mindlessly approach him. You can't mindlessly approach anybody, but Kirby the least.
14:32 when your a mid-tier character with a terrible model in an underplayed game about to either get your shield broken by an absurdly overpowered, over-ranged up tilt or get shield poked by a forward smash contemplating your existence:
That's sooo relatable dude.
That hurts... XD
I forgot how bad DK's model looked in Smash 64. It's amazing
Riley Sheehy But his up-air is so beautiful. What a majestic Kong
i realize I am pretty off topic but do anyone know a good site to watch new tv shows online ?
@Eliseo Randy Flixportal :)
@Gatlin Keaton Thank you, I signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :D I really appreciate it!!
@Eliseo Randy you are welcome :D
smash 64 is so fun to watch.
DbzFlipz ironic?
DbzFlipz Yeah, I love watching people play as DK.
+cross25011990 Do you even know what you are saying lol
ya you didnt even mind when there were five people wanting to play and you had to sit one out
Isai already confirmed that hes going DK for Genesis 3, this is gonna be intense!!
i hope this is true. he loves to challenge himself. mad respect
This set was so intense. I love this game so much.
alguien puede ayudarme con este juego? subi un video con mi problema... no lo puedo jugar
goddam! this is exactly why I used Kirby in 64 :D
would it be possible to only put the starting character in the title? knowing that someone is going to switch could potentially be a spoiler. like, say the title is player 1 (falcon, kirby, dk) vs player 2 (kirby), if player 1 wins two games as falcon then now we know he's going to lose the next two games at least. i know this didnt happen in this video but it's something that could potentially happen.

why do they play without time-limit? this is not fair i think..
No time limit in 64.
Farmer Zak Lol you use a stopwatch. I don't understand why they don't have a time limit though because the game is pretty slow sometimes, because the neutral is very slow paced and no one has the balls to go in for an attack.
+Graybat12 that's just how the game is played, bro. It's fine if you don't like it, but frankly getting hit once in this game can mean death
Hitsuga Aorusaki True but with at least maybe a 10 to 15 minute timer you can have a reasonably fun game being played. Most time limits are generous and you never run out the clock any way (melee's 8 minutes are almost never completely elapsed) , but it's good for one to be there just in case.
Graybat12
i guess they can bear with it since (presumably) theres a lot of less people in 64 brackets
11:50 why no d-air?? it is SO free on kirby vs DK seriously, the hitbox is ridiculous as fuck
Smash 64 is still alive and Kirby is a good character??? (Packs n64 controller)
tru
Is GimR the person who uploads the videos to RUclips?
As anti-hype Smash 64 may be, it is still entertaining to see people lose a stock from 1 combo, and I love it for that.
"KeroKeroppi" like the Sanrio character? That's unusually cute.
Also, *ALL THOSE TAUNTS!* XD
8:13 Me.

Great match
I think this describes every single Smash 64 match: Alot happening, but nothing going on
I like tacos mentality. No one likes watching kirby dittos yet kirby is so hard to play... so play DK!
+landwolf00 kirby is not hard to play. its kirby is for try hards to play
I meant that Kirby is hard to play against :)
+Jane Rogers

Far easier than other characters.
Am I the only one that thinks Kirby's arms make him look like a penguin?
Why is he taunting when he's not in the lead? That's not how it works bro...
I heard in a different video of one of tacos games that it is something with his control scheme. he doesn't actually mean to do those taunts but it happens anyways.
well its kinda obvious that some of the time he means to do it.
TheEbonyStallion he meants to taunt for sure. taunt cancelling is easier on hori because of button placement, so he's just incorporated that into his overall movement because it's funny/cool

I wanted tacos' DK to win so badly :c
All I can say is... up tilt into fair.
This is boring: Waiting around until you can do 5 up tilts. Great.
Kero didn't know how to play dk, and if you don't, that's basically what you have to do.
Watch some other interesting matches, ssb64 IS fun to watch.
Lol kirby is so op i,never used him, back in the day haha
Taco playing D.K.? Huh...
kero potentially ruins everyone's enjoyment of watching n64
DEEZ DONGS!!!
Kirby :)
DKKKKK

And people are complaining about Brawl? Stuff actually happens there. This is boring.
BadLuckBrian lol
BadLuckBrian At least 64 has *combos*
***** Learn the controls, learn how to react fast and properly and you can apply combo's in the other Smash games because of skill and not because of a 10-year hitstun duration.
BadLuckBrian Or, we can learn that Sakurai purposely raised the base knockback and that's why Brawl has little-to-no combos.
BadLuckBrian The reason why you think stuff isn't happening if because you don't understand the neutral game in 64.

a lot like most melee fights
