As a Rabies-free country, the people of the UK have a particular fear and anxiety about the disease that probably seems eccentric to people who live in countries where it hasn't been eradicated. Rabid Summer is not the only BBC drama about the nightmare scenario of a Rabies outbreak, the 1980s TV serial THE MAD DEATH was a convincing depiction of The Dogpocalypse, too... James Follet tends to be sneered at by literary types . " A writer of thrillers "..?
And definitely not a contender for The Booker Prize. But his plotting / dialogue
and characters combined with an effortless writing style are of the highest
quality . His research is meticulous too. I would compare him to John Wyndham
in his ability to show the impact of extraordinary events upon " ordinary "
people ? Needless to say I would rather read one of his thrillers than any of
the current ( or past ! ) Booker nominations.! PS.....Your selection of offerings
here is quite outstanding.!! Many thanks ..
