Ordered a kit from Simply Speakers for my JBL LX 44s. I live in Arizona and the delivery of the kit from Florida was ridiculously fast and free. I spent a lot of time cleaning the old foam but it was worth it. The new foam parts fit like a glove. Everything went just like SS said it would. I am so happy with the results that I decided to write this review. Thank you Simply Speakers for saving my JBL LX 44s. Just listened to some Zeppelin, Steppenwolf, Allman Brothers and James Taylor and wow just wow. Now I know why so many people are into these old AMERICAN made quality built speakers. Repairing them reminded me of working on an old classic muscle car. Quality.

I just repaired two JBL 128H Woofers on my set of Jubal L-65s. I used the Foam Edge Kit I obtained recently from Simply Speakers. These loudspeakers are extremely important and precious to me. I've owned them since the mid 1970s and they are truly my "EARS." The woofers had been "re-foamed" in the late 1990s by a professional repair facility. Recently I discovered that both woofers needed their foam edges to be replaced again due to the onset of deterioration. I owned and engineered a professional Multi-Track Analog studio in Philadelphia which sported JBL Studio Monitors in all its "live" and control rooms. The L-65 speaker system I own was always used in my residence. They serving as the perfect pair of "test" speakers outside of the studio environment. The foam edge repair restored these woofers to perfection! I am thrilled to have my "ears" back at 100%. Thank you Simply Speakers for the terrific video, which I watched several times before making the repair to both woofers last night. Messy? You bet! But worth every bit of cleanup to have my Jubal L-65s singing again! Deeply appreciated!! Andy Kahn

Ordered the kit from SS and undermounted the surrounds on my >25 yr old 8" JBLs. I skipped shimming the coil to center on one and it made no difference (the coil has very very close tolerance on these - would not accept playing card strips). Both speakers sound better than new. Way worth the $25.

Yeah thank you guys just finished my JBL MRV308 had to do both speakers, first time I did it, bent up one of the cones a little, but they sound great and I can turn my stereo up loud again. Seemed a little more difficult because the frame was and cone only had about 1 cm of separation so cleaning the back side of the cone was a little more difficult.

Just finished pair of 125As from L36s, my 1st refoam. Glue application is harder than it looks here on back of the cone. Glue dries pretty fast so if you dont lay an even bead 1st time, touch up is sketchy. I had to do alot more babysitting the foam to cone curing, bout 15 min of pressing foam to lay down flat & stay there with a spoon handle. Once this Glue tacks. It's hard to work with.

I've found that I rarely ever need to use alcohol on cleaning the frames or cones. I simply scrape the old foam away with my razor knife and the foam is removed.

Are the standards of the surrounds different for other JBL models? I just finished my 4410s and the surround spacing was very sloppy between the cone edge and surround roll. Bad enough they may need to be reconed. Nothing like my CVs, Advents, or infinity speakers.

Is that 91% isopropanol you're using? It's kind of hard to make out from the video. I tried some 70% (because it's what I had), but it doesn't seem to do much.
