38 and i just got my cdl few months ago got a job with my friend that has small trucking company went on my first run got back few days ago driving is no problem but docking and parking on packed truck stops was nerve racking
@@sebol931 did you get the hang of it? My scare/fear is backing up and parking and changing lanes, man being old is tough. When we was young we could face any challenges.
@@richardfloridaman I only did about 1000 miles in 3 days got back on Friday it was my first run i was nervous driving but after few hours it was actually very nice not hard to drive but at night when i got to a truck stop i could not park it had my friend do it he said most people cant in the first few weeks i am actually leaving tomorrow for full week of East cost driving like New Jersy, New York and so on he said it will be good practice and experience he is with me as a co driver until i get a hang of it and then i will be all by my self do not worry get your cdl and dont stress it is very fun i busted my ass in factory all this time and i will never go back

I was 16 when I got my CDL in 1978 I couldn't drive for hire so I worked for the family business driving rolloff trucks I had a 76 IH 4300 I loved that truck then the mid 80's I started hauling cows the best ever. Great video. Always be willing to learn and help fellow truckers when you can. Unfortunately a lot of people just like to record people screwing up when they may not know. A lot of ppl I feel are pushed through driving school. Nice set up.
I'm 20 and a diesel tech and you got a solid work truck. Keep working bro don't let any shady shops screw you over if u do any long haul in the future, if you get stuck make sure you know someone who can vouch for you at a shop, idk if u on the west coast or east coast but they will run ur pockets dry and not fix ur truck over here on the rust belt. It all depends on what shop you go to some places are still great but there are definitely some places you gotta be aware of.

Hey bro always remember u wanna run straps thru rub rail not over it and u always wanna rotate straps vs tighten them from one side only ex throw one from one side n other from other side of trailer it’ll help in long run from freight possible shifting
Go in between your rails on both sides and hook under the frame. If you get on something with the straps/chain exposed it would shear and you could lose the load.
Im also 19 and would also drive. Like seeing other people my age just like me Love driving trucks. Used to have an old 93 freightliner cabover that I hauled with.
I know theres some crazy oilfield money out there even more with a cdl. Apply to a driving school and go from there. Might be expensive but think of it as an investment that you’ll pay back in 2 months lol. Let me know if you got more questions!!

I bought the truck off my dad. If you dont have enough for a truck to buy in cash i dont really recommend getting a loan unless you know exactly where are you working and how much you’re going making. Have a solid plan before purchasing a truck. Lmk how it goes

A decent truck only is around 30k to 40k right now. If you’re getting your own authority and insurance thats around 3k to 5k for down payment. Plus need money set aside for repairs, maintenance etc. and brokers/ shippers take anywhere from 30 to 90 days to pay meaning you need fuel. You can always get a factoring company that will take a percentage of your pay but they’ll pay you quicker for the loads if you’re really needing the money.
Is that the Salvadorian coat of arms from the flag? Very cool bro. Salvadorian here too and also work with my dad in SoCal as bottom dump dirt haulers! Doing it for 20 20 years already started when I was 20. Great vid and best of luck to you and your business!

U should run straps under rub rail if dot catches you they can really screw u they have to be inside rail so if crash happens to protect straps

Try looking for end dump or belly dump work. They’ll hire you in a heart beat with a cdl🤣
