    Mae West kept her telephone number open for all to see in the Los Angeles telephone directory and would either have someone answer every call or one of her staff.
    I know as I did call that number toward the end of her life and talked with a very pleasant staff member at her Ravenswood Apartment who informed me Miss West (who had recently been ill) was doing better and she appreciated the telephone call. Mae West always loved her fans even to the point of keeping her telephone number open and in the Telephone Directory for anyone wanting to call her.

    They don't make them like that anymore!! Mae West created her dream, lived the dream and allowed others to dream, through her amazing persona and incredible talent. She provided the gift of laughter and dared women to be different through overt displays of indifference to stifling social mores of the time. At a diminutive 5ft(2ish) she was larger than life. One of a kind. Thank you for the memories Miss West.

    i am late to the party on these videos, but i was inspired to get into contact with Tim Malachosky. this gentleman went above and beyond for me. i just purchased one of his out of print books, a signed Mae West photo and a signed check from the 30's! i am an amateur collector of the golden/silver age. i can't wait to read his book. he is just as authentic as you see in the videos and i encourage anyone who is a true fan to contact him through facebook. hopefully one day i can encourage him to part with a gown or something! as far as the museum idea, i asked if he would consider crowd-sourcing. if anyone thinks this is a good idea or might consider a donation, like/thumbs up?! maybe, HOPEFULLY we as a whole can get Ms. West a museum she deserves.

    • @iluvgalina
      @iluvgalina 7 лет назад +7

      btw, i asked what her favorite movie of hers was, and he gave me two answers. "She Done Him Wrong" and "I'm No Angel." She happened to write both of those screenplays, and coincidentally (or not) Cary Grant was in each! enjoy!

Funny how life is and what it teaches us. I think she was "every man's type" a d she had that ability to completely "disarm" a guy . She was right. My father the Vaudeville star, Deiro, was married to Mae West in 1913. Separated in 1916 and divorced in 1921. Almost everything published about Mae's early career was censored by her agents so as not to cloud her popularity. Remember, she was forty years old when she went to Hollywood. For the real story visit the illustrated web site guidodeiro.org. Click on "Contents" then "Mae West". You will be astonished.. I inherited many items from their marriage and careers.

      I just read the things you posted both here as well as your other site. This is an amazing story about your dad and Mae West. Even though both your dad as well as Mae were known by everyone about town in those days, it is almost 100 years later and 2-3 generations down and many new to this Earth don't know about these people. I am not sure why there should not be a book or movie out about the real struggles in those early times of entertainment. It would be interesting to people to know what it was like back then. It just isn't the same anymore.

    I'm commenting here because the comments were disabled on video #145, my favorite to date, which ironically is all about Jordan and not a celebrity or famous place. I stumbled upon this channel while being obsessed with Kurt Cobain a few weeks ago. Looking for allll the Kurt and Nirvana videos, I watched the one where Jordan went to the apartment of Kurt and Courtney where In Utero was probably penned. Since then I've been hooked! Subscribed to the channel and have begun watching chronologically from episode 1... Jordan, you are such a kind, curious, sweet man! I love your sense of humor, quest for knowledge, and drive for positivity in your life! It's strange, but I feel like I know you - like we're friends. Keep doing what you're doing and being a wonderfully kind person. Your personality shines in your videos and it is refreshing! 😊

    hello Jordan, i just discovered your channel today while preparing for pride day. I just learned of Mae West from a hair recreation video on another youtube channel and they were talking about her and it had me running to the library to rent what films they had of her after seeing a few clips from scenes posted on youtube. I'm now a fan of hers and this video makes me like her even more because you hardly get a chance to encounter people who knew the classic golden age actors of the past anymore and learn about the person and not the icon or celebrity side. i like her even more because after learning more about her from jthis part of the video she and there were a few things mentioned that is very similar to me. an example would be the off camera on camera , but for my case it be performing and not performing. People are very shocked at how modest i am because they've mostly seen me while performing and in costume and they only know ...I guess you could call it the spice., but when they meet me out of costume and just mellow they're shocked at how different i am. I know this video was made 6 years ago but I hope one day we do have an official museum for Mae west. it be fun to see maybe little life size diorama recreations from scenes from her films and have a manniquin wearing one of the costumes that was seen in that scene from that movie. Speaking of costumes That frock with the fishtail got me inspired. i do a lot of my costumes and i might try to create something inspired by it. it was absolutely gorgeous. the one shocking thing i learned was how short she was. i always thought maybe she was a little taller but when the platforms were mentioned it explained everything. Well i have an event i got to finish getting ready for. i will be watching the second half later when i get back, you've a great rest of your weekend and a happy pride month from seattle.

    Mae's license plate number 435 is the number of my apartment building. Number 12 add it together 3 is my favorite number. I order two loveseats called camelback. Mae, sat on a camelback couch on the Red Skelton show. I didn't realize it at the time that I order camelback, I just loved the style. I have been waiting for loveseats for 6 months because of the pandemic. A week ago, I visit the store to talk with the salesman. I was upset. I mentioned Mae West's was my favorite actress. And said he come up and see me sometime. We both laughed. Well, he checked on order. They'll be delivered March 9!!!! Thanks God and Mae. By the way I was wearing her favorite perfume JOY!!! LOL
