We also went to the spot of the accident...just days later. Have family n Slidell,and they took us. I was a fan of Jaynes. Even went to her pink palace in la when engelbert live there. There was a window open upstairs and I went stupid and called for him to come out. Later years,I went to where Jayne is now buried in her home town in Penn. When I was leaving,a long black limo entered the cemetery...wondered if it was one of her kids...maybe Marisa........

Good thing this car was built like a tank . My first car was a 1965 Buick LeSabre 4 door sedan. It was a stunning car with gold thread running through the upholstery. That car was a dream to drive, beautiful, and indestructible. Imagine the carnage if this happened now. Well, it does but the Manafield bar stops a lot of cars from going under trucks from the back. So sad, so unnecessary. Glad the kids survived, I love Mariska Hargitay. Hard to lose your mom at such a young age and be in the car where she was killed. Thank you for sharing.
I remember seeing the newspaper photos of the wrecked car the day after it happened, so tragic. JM was a very clever and talented lady as is her daughter Mariska.
Scott has to be one of the most amazing story tellers I've ever heard. He's got such a great voice, he has facts and interesting tidbits as well. I can't wait to visit his museum and take a tour or two with him some day! Thank you for a great video!

The damage on this car is incredible. OMG. I have a 66 Buick Electra at home and they are big, heavy, sturdy cars. Hard to believe it could end up this mangled.
It rear ended a semi in the fog..
Before semi trucks had the rear bar to keep this type of wreck from happening.

My husband lived on the gulf coast, he told me about her accident and his father was the physician that worked that case. My husband passed away two years ago, I wished that I had questioned him more.

I love how Americans are so good at narrowing down where historic events occurred and collecting historic artifacts. We really need to do the same in Australia because it's extremely important for history, culture, and posterity. Good luck finding out the exact locations where Victor Chang and John Newman were assassinated in Australia in 1991 and 1994 respectively, or where the Knowles family UFO incident occurred on the Eyre highway in the Nullabor in 1988.
All the bricks & stones from places brings to mind when you "acquired" the stone from Michael Jackson's Neverland driveway area.

The mannequin with the name tag "Beth" was in reference to Elizabeth Short aka the Black Dahlia who was cut in half in the 40's. It was a famous murder case of a young Hollywood hopeful.

I read that supper club was never the same after that brush with infamy.
I feel so bad for Jayne. She was relegated to doing "supper clubs" for $$$, and had to travel by car (in the middle of the night), to get to her next unheralded destination for her next performance. Such a sad ending.
She was supposed to do an interview that day at a New Orleans TV station. She even had hotel reservations. But she never made it.
I wonder how much longer would she able to survive anyway. Blonde bombshell w/big boobs was changing. It might've been too hard for her to change her image even Marilyn Monroe was unable to do that. w/o her career, would she be happy

Thanks for setting the record straight. Can't wait to see Joan Crawford's house. Just finished watching the excellent miniseries, "The Feud", about her and Bette Davis.

I've always wanted to take that tour. Scott Michaels is a genius and an expert in Manson (and many others). I'd love to meet him sometime (and you, too). I've worked at two correctional facilities that Manson was in and I drive around his old stomping grounds in the back streets of Indy at my job.
Last year, I found out that my college psychology teacher is married to a distant relative of Carey Grant, who happened to have been from the city that I spent the majority of my life in. I'm intrigued to find out what you thought about his film career. I love your channel :)
i remember when it happened, the news papers had the pics , i think her hair/wig was on the dash if i remember correctly. my uncle escorted her when she came over seas to see the troops back in the 60s , he ran the officers club,my sister has the pictures ... she was gorgeous

I was nearly 16 when Jayne Mansfield died. Heard it on the radio and at first thought it was my Dad's friend's wife that was killed as her name was Jane Mansfield. Yes, they ere blurting out all over that she was decapitated and in my teen mind all kinds of gore was trolling on........really gross thoughts, but hey, I was a kid. Thanks Jordon for an awesome video trip. Yes, I have driven by Jayne's death site on Hwy 90. It's a "back road" these days as I-10 is the main road of travel now.

I visited the Dearly Departed Museum while I was in Los Angeles recently. I was intrigued by Jordan's video clip that featured Mae West's false teeth, and the piece of mortar from members of The Supreme's Brewster Housing Project in Detroit that he has for sale for fans.I got to meet Scott Michaels and a few members of his staff. They are very approachable and knowledgable. I highly recommend a stop at this unique site. Located right across from the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, it is easy to get to on public transportation.

I did the HELTER SKELTER tour with Scott Michaels about 4 years ago, he was great. Highly recommend it if you are into the story, We used his vehicle instead of the usual tour van and got to see a bunch of stuff not normally on the tour .
Saw that pink suitcase Jayne Mansfield had with her when...He also had Rock Hudson's rolodex with Elizabeth Taylor and other celeb phone numbers.
