This film is based on the life of Broadway actress Marian Hall Seldes who actually suffered from dementia during the last years of her life.
How appropriate (ha) that Jessica Lange is currently tony-nominated for her Broadway play while this movie is coming out.
I heard Meryl Streep was originally attached to play Lillian, but Jessica Lange replaced her. I say, "GREAT!" All the best roles has been going to Streep. It's time for them to start spreading it out and give these roles to some of our other great actresses out there.

Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard really is a perfectly chosen play for this story. It really captures the pain as well as the necessity of letting go and moving on!
