SPB SPB it’s definitely technique, I’ve hit like that plenty of times. When the ball is coming towards you and you’re far out you lean back and whip your leg and it dips
From a physical pov: long legs, and fast twitch muscles. Long legs: An increase in leg length increases the speed the shooting foot is moving during a shot. The underlying principle also applies to punching. An increase in arm length increases the speed of the fist when throwing hook punches. Helicopter propellers are literally traveling faster at the tips than near the base. Fast twitch muscles: This allows Yaya Toure to move his limbs faster than if his muscles were more slow twitch. So both the long legs and fast twitch muscles, independently and together, increase the speed at which the ball is struck, thus increasing the speed at which the ball moves. Aside from the physical he’s also skilled with the ball. He was good enough to be a starter in the center of midfield for Barca and his touch on the ball was at Barca level.

I'm a Man City fan and I genuinely think the football we played in Pellegrini's first season was the best of the last 10 years. Guardiola has obviously had us playing amazing football in his title winning seasons. But the football in Pellegrini's first season was so much better in my opinion. Better players at their peak (Kompany, Zabba, Silva, Toure, Aguero, Dzeko) Faster in the counter, more exciting, more direct and still capable of bossing games with possession. What a season that was.
