    • @toddmg

From a physical pov: long legs, and fast twitch muscles.
Long legs: An increase in leg length increases the speed the shooting foot is moving during a shot. The underlying principle also applies to punching. An increase in arm length increases the speed of the fist when throwing hook punches. Helicopter propellers are literally traveling faster at the tips than near the base.
Fast twitch muscles: This allows Yaya Toure to move his limbs faster than if his muscles were more slow twitch.
So both the long legs and fast twitch muscles, independently and together, increase the speed at which the ball is struck, thus increasing the speed at which the ball moves.
Aside from the physical he’s also skilled with the ball. He was good enough to be a starter in the center of midfield for Barca and his touch on the ball was at Barca level.

I'm a Man City fan and I genuinely think the football we played in Pellegrini's first season was the best of the last 10 years. Guardiola has obviously had us playing amazing football in his title winning seasons. But the football in Pellegrini's first season was so much better in my opinion. Better players at their peak (Kompany, Zabba, Silva, Toure, Aguero, Dzeko) Faster in the counter, more exciting, more direct and still capable of bossing games with possession. What a season that was.

Funny how he doesn’t shoot when facing the goal with the ball under control but 2 seconds later shoots when he’s not facing the goal, doesn’t have the ball under control and is even further out. What a player

Prime Yaya Touré was one of the most complete midfielders the Premier League has seen, genuinely miss the days he would bang goals week in week out from midfield, and this is as a United fan who was terrorised by his performances against us in the early 2010s

I was in the front row right behind the goal in the middle at the other end. My dad had died just a couple of days before abroad and I'd flown back to go to the game after dealing with the immediate aftermath. My head was spinning and it was a surreal day. Didn't feel real. I'd have appreciated it if Yaya could have put that one over the bar.

Toure does things that should not work, leans back, moves slow, but yet he is powerful, precise and one of the worlds best ever exponents of his position

False. Even if he said that( but he didn't) just look at the position he takes to shoot the ball, the power and the curve. Everything screams "I'm gonna kill that ball the moment it touches the net."

  • @Maz2bi

Well kudos to Toure and that stunning goal, but actually he was trying to cross. He didnt expected that even. But sometimes you’re lucky and thats why these goals are for highlight reels because they dont happen often.
