This is the the song that made me fall in love with the sound of the bass... As a little kid in the 60s, listening to my Made In Japan transistor radio, when It's My Life came on I could feel that big, round, booming tone pound through that little speaker, and it was so thrilling I would call the radio station, and request it every day! Thanks
Great lesson Greg! I listened to the sing before your lesson and can't believe how many times I've heard this song and that bass line was always in the back of my brain withoyt me even knowing it. Can't wait to get at it.
Cool to hear this bassline in the original Ebm. Back when this song was first released, my band played it in Em, not Ebm. That allowed me to basically play the bassline almost an octave lower, using the open E. I don't know why, but this is about the only bassline I remembered after taking the bass back up after a 40 year break for Army, university and career. What goes around comes around. 🎸🎸🎸

@@mikestrong4946 glad you liked it. Great to hear that Chas Chandler’s bass even cut through those small speakers!

@@robertmock4146 great to hear. Now you can learn it! 👍
One of my favorite songs, ever! I used to sing it in my band, the Squires . . . .
@@StevenDoyleLuke that’s great!
@@GregsBassShed Other great walking lines by Chas: 'Around and Around'; 'Talking 'bout You'; 'Boom Boom'; 'I'm in love again';
Excellent! Used to play this years ago. It may have to be revisited! Thank You.

Nice one Greg
@@rogvoyce4014 cheers!
I also sang it in The Lovely Lads.
A lot of this tune uses the Ab minor pentatonic scale.
Great bass line Greg! Would you please consider doing “ I Just Want to Make Love to You” by Foghat. It was an old blues tune 🎶 they covered .
