Great video, hugely informative and speaking from your own experience. I came across your video while searching for possible reasons why my walbro wj71 is so terrible on my Rc plane. It’s a DLE 120. Maybe not your thing but you never know. It has no mid range and dies unless puddlingly rich on the low end which then just bogs from idle. I’m assuming it’s lean in the mid range and can’t be tuned out. Any ideas on a fix? Or even a different carb, maybe with an accelerator pump? Any help would be hugely appreciate, thanks.
Hey RC brother thanks for checking out the video. You could have trash in the carb or most likely the diaphragm in the carb could be going bad. The little needle n seat inside could have some trash on it. I suggest rebuilding the carburetor. You could also look into the replacement carb for the wj71 as it is now discontinued and has been replaced with the a new Walbro model called the wj146 and can be had at Taylor RC website or Detroit Performance RC. Happy Flying to you bro! I hope that helps!
My TMR 30.5 always fired right up! Wonder if the high octane is hard to fire for the MT in cold weather with a stick engine. Compression may be too low or high for that fuel so it can’t fire. Who cares cause that’s what I run and it starts eventually lol
Thanks bro !! Have you seen KTperformance mods on the 38cc 30 degree north engines really impressive performance def going to get him to do my engine in the DTT 7 V 2
KT is bad news you should get TMR performance my engine guy to do your work. kT made fun of my sobriety on Facebook which I forgave him for it immediately, but it was very uncalled for when he is someone who just smokes weed in his parents, basement and hacks engines up.

Hey brother good Sunday morning to you. I have done it twice and built a whole car for a guy. But I wont do that anymore as its just not cost effective and very time consuming. Im certainly not in this for the money because Im not making anything off it but I do get pure joy in helping others! I hope you have a super blessed Sunday bro! 🙏🤝🇺🇸
I’m looking to put and was told to use a 990 with the bearings on the throttle shaft on a 30.5 ported billet long block from gizmo? And the way I understand it. They’re long blocks are a little higher compression and it’s going on a Baja.?
@@timmyl2005 that 990 will work but you may want to try an 1107 as well. It will flow more fuel and air and make more power. You will sacrifice and tiny bit of low end but very nice mid range and top end rpms and power which is where a two stroke is most happy, wide open and up in the rpms so try them both and see what you like better! I personally do not care for the 990. I run an 1107 on my 30.5 and it hauls balls! Its also ported and its a long rod.
Good information! I recently switched over to Coleman camping fuel instead of pump gas. Have you tried it what's your opinion? I love it in that it burns clean and won't damage my carb internals. I'm not trying to squeeze every bit of power out which is good because I understand Coleman fuel is about 55 octane?
I do not like it. It creates extra heat in the engine and causes pre-detonation problems. Your better off with 93 octane pump gas and the engine has high enough compression Race gas is even good! I run 112 octane fuel in all my engines and they burn very clean and very cool and tune very easy! I advise against 55 octane camping fuel.
Cheers to you bro thanks for watching! I appreciate the support! I love helping people with the things Ive learned over the many years of tuning two strokes.

I would suggest a Rovan Walbro 1191 that can be bought from fearlessrc.com or you can go with a Husqvarna Walbro 1107 from DDM Daves Discount Motors . Any bigger of carb is a waste on that 32. Happy brappin and welcome to the channel! I only share true knowledge and facts and I will give my opinions in things after I have tried them as well! My honest opinion. I wish I did brother! TMR does all my porting for and he has not been doing any work for me because if bad car accident he got into and his back gut hurt and neck really bad.
First that carb is too small for a 35. I recommend you put an 1107 on it and start at 1 1/2 out on the low (rich) and 2 and a little pinch out on the high. This should be a somewhat rich starting point and you can dial in from there. You will see more power with an 1107. 997 is for 30.5 and below. You will sacrifice top end with that carb. If you MUST use the 997 …With the idle set correctly try the settings I gave you above for the 1107. Just remember if the idle is set correctly like I share in the idle vid and you engine is idling real fast that is a sign of it running lean and starving for fuel ..,get on the low and back it out in tiny tiny increments until the idle drops thus giving the engine adequate fuel. Always always tune from the low to the high never the other way. Forums will tell you the other way thats stupid … we don’t do anything in life from the top and go to the bottom tuning is basic common sense you start from the low and work your way to the high. When both needles are working simultaneously that’s called the sweet spot and the engine sound and visual power. Let you know you’re there. That’s what I love about tuning. Have fun and don’t let it frustrate you.
You will be fine with a 668 on 26. The 1107 will work but you were more than likely going rich on the top end. Believe it not you will make more power with the 668 over the 990 because the choke blade in the air path actually helps the engine pick up air speed which in turn equates to power!
Would you be able to help me with my set up?..i have a 36cc reedcase with an 1107 carb modified ethanol bulb, diaphragm and choke delete...its very hard to keep her on. Shell go if i finagle the throttle...but not for longer than 15 seconds ....had it idling for a bit but when i apply throttle it bogs out or sputters...have a 32 reed with 1107 stock runs good
Try a new stock 1107 on there brother and leave the choke. Believe it not ….a little secret here I will share with you. The choke blade actually causes air speed which in turn equates to power! The choke is a good thing! You are having carb problems thats all . I like stock 1107s with just a spiral 🌀 diaphragm. They work very well for me. From your description it sounds to me like that carb is leaking air. That can be a real headache!
Hello brapp brother I have that km isolator and was just wondering there to hole one on top and one on bottom but the gasket they give you the one for the back only has one hole on the top but not a hole for the bottom is that right bro
Just flip it bro . Make sure the hole lines up with the hole in the intake because that’s the engines pulse hole to make the carb pump fuel! If it’s covered up it won’t run!
Hey and thanks for your video. It's gotten me out of a hole with my own 1/5 scale. I am having an issue with it though. My carb is a roixing rep of the walbro. Anything over .75 turns on the low speed jet and it just floods when starting even say .8 But there's always slight hesitation in the change over from high to low. No matter how far up I turn the high screw. Have you ever encountered this? I'm 100% sure it's a little lean on the low end but no matter what it just refuses to start at any thing over .75. I've even gone as far as an electric start on it. And can get it to start at partial throttle but it will not even idle above the .75 point without the idle screw way up and a ridiculously high idle. Any help appreciated.
If its a ruiing carb I think thats what you meant…throw that junk in the trash and get you a walbro 1107 or a walbro 1191 from Fearlessrc.com more than likely you carb could have two issues, first a bad diaphragm which is common with a ruiing carb second it could simply be a bad casting of the carb. Either way get you a real walbro, 1107 or 1191 and be done!! Hope that helps brother!!
Thank you so much for the reply man. In the process of ordering one now. But I'm in Ireland and genuine walbro carbs here are nearly 100euro and very few places stock them under a walbro number. You wouldn't know the husky number for the 970 or the 1107 would you? I'm fairly sure I could get them at a decent price.
Good morning man you can use either on that 29 but you will pick up a bit more air speed on the 668 because of the choke blade which is a good thing. The 990 may also deliver a bit snappier low end as well. But essentially either carb will work fine.
Hi brother a question to ask you, I want to buy Taylor 35cc v2 can we mount WT990 on steel axle bearing with spring tarer for G340 on this 35cc engine thanks to you
Start at 1- 3/8 out on the low and 1-7/8~2 out on the high should be a good starting point. I wouldnt be taking it to much leaner either. Try to go as rich as you can on the low needle first then clean up the high needle until the engine sounds nice n revvy. And do all this after its warmed up.
It worked! Your LESS THAN God! but more than the average Rc Man lol this was my break in motor I was running 25:1 now when I get ready to go 50:1 what’s the best needle settings for that.
You can but an 1107 would work better as that’s what it comes with stock! Also an 1191 which is the same as an 1107 will work. The 997 will work but it will give you a snappier low end but you will loose top end . Fuel makes power so Id stick with what comes in the g32 stock and that’s an 1107/1191
Reason im askin is because i snatched a good deal on a g32. Only issue is it doesn't have a carb. I have a 997 on my 29cc so I was thinkin of using it for the meantime till I get enough cash to buy a 1107. Will the 997 not cause any damage to the engine? Just abit of power loss on top end?
No sir it should not cause any damage you will just notice it will run a little flat on the top end as it starved for fuel. You may not notice it much unless you really hold it wide open for a long period of time. Fearless RC sells the the 1191 for fairly cheap. But the 997/668 will work. Brap on brother have some fun.
You should use a 668 or a 990 will work! I like a 668 because the choke makes it easier to start also the choke butterfly believe it or not helps the engine pick up air speed.
@@eastsiderc ok thanks for your answer , we always remove the choke and seal the holes , because we have electric starters on our 1/5thscale onroad race cars . do you think i should get the spiral diaphragm aswell ?
Tuning is everything!! I will be doing a tuning basics very soon brother! Let me put to ya like this in short! You could have the most powerful engine in the world but if one cant tune it then its just a turd 💩. Tuning equates to your engines reliability, longevity, and its required for an optimal tune to make the rawest of power!
It sounds like your not getting fuel. The fuel lines could be squeezed off in the grommet in the tank. I recommend the high flow fuel line kit from DDM it keeps things flowing nicely. Also try not to use ethanol gas it’s detrimental to our little engines
@@eastsiderc Thanks for replying, I removed the grommet and then watch the return line when I pumped the ball, fuel flowing fine. I am at a loss as to what is going on
Yes thats an excellent carb! Good for all around power. If you want more top end and sacrifice a tiny bit if low then you can throw an 1107 or 1191 on it but the 668 is a great carb for a stock 30.5 better than the 990 for a couple reasons 1 it has a choke thats causes a pick up in air speed air speed equates to power! Secondly the 990 has a giant nozzle right in the air path the 668 does not thus flowing more air!! Hope that helps brother
Well that will depend on your fuel mix the temperature outside and the relative humidity so I really cant say all I can tell you is to start at base settings or richer and take away or add fuel as per the sound of your engine. You want it leaving hard and screaming balls on the top end. And dont bury the idle screw or you will play hell trying to get it tuned right.
Sure man I can help Base settings for the carb are as follows Low needle 1 3/8 out from closed and high needle 1 7/8 our from closed it thats hard to fine then just start at 1 1/2 low and 2 out for the high and tune from there. Hope that helps ya brother!
@@eastsiderc thanks very much mate I appreciate it 👍 I don't suppose you have any stickers so I can put it on my car and show it off when I get videos for RUclips please
Thank you sir...,i bought secondhand goped bigfoot ,g320 installed but the carb in it is a wyj 138 so i want to replace the carb but the available carb for our country is 997 only...
An 1107 for sure as thats what comes stock on a stock 32 so degrading to a 990 would be putting a smaller carb on it giving it less fuel. Ut works but topend rpms are sacrificed.
For a 29 you can use either . 990 will give you a snappy low end and the 1107 you will sacrifice a little low end but gain Rpms. Typically a 990 is fine for a 29cc . You could always try both and see what one you like better.

Amen Brother!!! Haters will be hating! I am a 56 year old man who has a little knowledge on everything that matters in life, and that seems to chaf some men that love to argue when they should be paying attention and learning from you enstead of talking shit about you! I have always said that a man has a right to tell people what he knows if it's good solid information. Like Kidd Rock says ( It ain't bragging mother f%#ker if you can back it up! 😉 I have a vintage chainsaw collection of around 70 saws and you sound like you know your shit! I tell my woman there is only one way to get the big carburetors with the metal fuel barbs and that big ass hole your talking about so you can let the ponies run! And that is to step back in time a few years before the EPA got there hands on things and molested the horsepower out of are 2-stroke engines!
Hey brother thanks for the comment and watching my vid! I appreciate ya! This comment had me laughing
Man I took the choke off my primal MT and replaced the vstack with a Bartalone vstack. Kind of hard to start now that’s it’s cold.
Yeah I did the exact same thing 😆
USA-1 or a Savage! I’m pumped to see what you got brother.
You are very good brother it very well may be one of those 😂 Im super excited it was supposed to be here yesterday but it got delayed! Its such a good looking ride man I just had to.
I really do enjoy watching your videos but it's one question I do have for you is it by chance that you actually take in 1/5th scale cars to overhaul and rebuild them for people
Hey brother good Sunday morning to you. I have done it twice and built a whole car for a guy. But I wont do that anymore as its just not cost effective and very time consuming. I just have to much going on to do that anymore. And the shipping back n forth is terribly expensive as these machines are so heavy. So I just choose to share all my knowledge of what I do with these things right here on the channel. I do appreciate you checking out my vids. Im certainly not in this for the money because Im not making anything off it but I do get pure joy in helping others! I hope you have a super blessed Sunday bro! 🙏🤝🇺🇸
Great Vid! Great Info!
Thanks brother
Hope your mum is feeling better bro.
She is now bro thank you very much!
Awesome advice bro cheers
Cheers to you bro thanks for watching! I appreciate the support! I love helping people with the things Ive learned over the many years of tuning two strokes.
The amount of money I've spent on my Rovan baja has cost me more then my car that I drive bro and it still doesn't go but hay it's a hobby and I enjoy fixing it and it looks awesome 😎
Eastside rc first I wana say I like your videos cause there very informative. Specially this one about carbs. That said I’m new to the 1/5 scale rc seen & im thirsty for proper knowledge. I’m looking to upgrade my carb on my rampage mt v3. It’s got a stock 32 cc hy engine running C12 race gas from VP & amsoil dominator 2 stroke oil. I just today put a performance exhausts on it & now I wana do the intake side aka carb velocity stack & preferably a K&N clamp on air filter. Any suggestions?
I would suggest a Rovan Walbro 1191 that can be bought from fearlessrc.com or you can go with a Husqvarna Walbro 1107 from DDM Daves Discount Motors . Any bigger of carb is a waste on that 32. Happy brappin and welcome to the channel! I only share true knowledge and facts and I will give my opinions in things after I have tried them as well! My honest opinion. I want to help fellas in the hobby have fun without spending a small fortune.
My man..I appreciate your honesty & feed back as well. I believe ur a up front kinda guy that’s y I chose to ask u first. Stay safe happy brappin & I’ll look forward to letting u know how I make out with your suggestion. 👍🏼🇺🇸
Well thAnks Brain. Looking forward to the outcome of your results. 🤝🤝Have a great day man!
Thank god mom doing well and home
Thank you brother thank God is right!!
Get it! Son! Rockforce!
Thanks Mike 🤝⛽️
How u doing sir I look at your videos all the time do u do porting
I wish I did brother! TMR does all my porting for and he has not been doing any work for me because if bad car accident he got into and his back gut hurt and neck really bad.
Sorry to hear that I'll keep witching ur videos could u refer to anyone that does
EastSide Rc ìv just got a 997 for my 35cc can you tell me what the high and low neddle setting are if possible
I tried a 1107 on s zenoah 26cc engine.
Top end sounded like it was breaking up / stuttering on WOT.
The 1107 carb ok for 26cc?
Thanks
I appreciate you asking the question! I love to help and I hope that helps you brother! 🙏🙏
Did you get the diaphragm from DDM?
Yes bro get the 5 pack its 50 bucks and worth every cent
Hello brapp brother I have that km isolator and was just wondering there to hole one on top and one on bottom but the gasket they give you the one for the back only has one hole on the top but not a hole for the bottom is that right bro
Just flip it bro . Make sure the hole lines up with the hole in the intake because that’s the engines pulse hole to make the carb pump fuel! If it’s covered up it won’t run!
@@eastsiderc all done bro had it running runs very nice ready for my velocity stack and 3 stage air filter tomorrow from Taylor
Will the oversized fuel lines and grommet make a difference in power on a 36cc rofun engine? It has a velocity stack installed.
It will definitely help with fuel flow but its not going to make anymore power just keep you running without fuel line issues
i need a rebuild kit for the WT-997 and the Teflon diaphragm any thoughts on this matter?
DDM sells that brother the spiral 🌀 diaphragm is great for race gas or ethanol use.
part numer AV496. Might finder it cheaper in Amazon too
@@eastsiderc ah! got it thanks!
the Best Carburator is the Rooster Tail 990 !
The 1107 is the Husqvarna number 1191 is the Chinese version. You can order from Fearlessrc.com they will ship internationally !
And you’re very welcome brother! I love to help people in this hobby!
@EastSideRC can i put a WT 1107 on a 26cc engine, and if yes, what does happen? More power but less snappy?
Correct bro. It wont hurt to try it. You will most likely lose a little low end and gain a top end.
Hello brother....so a 990 over a 668 for a 29cc lightly ported?
Good morning man you can use either on that 29 but you will pick up a bit more air speed on the 668 because of the choke blade which is a good thing. The 990 may also deliver a bit snappier low end as well. But essentially either carb will work fine.
Hi brother a question to ask you, I want to buy Taylor 35cc v2 can we mount WT990 on steel axle bearing with spring tarer for G340 on this 35cc engine thanks to you
Hey brother running a 990 on the Taylor 35 will only hinder its power especially the top end. You would be better off with Mikes new carb or an 1107 .
@@eastsiderc merci à toi 🙏
🙏🙏🙏God bless you brother!! I hope you have a blessed weekend
How much you paid for that nice OBR signature series 34 cc engine ?
I paid around 710 bucks I believe brother!
1242 i like with a bored venturi
Thats a 990 thats been opened up a bit with some goodies added to protect against race fuel and ethanol. Its a great carb for 23 to 30.5 cc for sure.
Hey just wanted to know what’s a good factory setting for the 1191 carb on a 36cc Rovan engine!
I greatly appreciate it will do this today
It worked! Your LESS THAN God! but more than the average Rc Man lol this was my break in motor I was running 25:1 now when I get ready to go 50:1 what’s the best needle settings for that.
I'm fairly new to gas rc. Is it possible to use the 997 on a g32?
Brap on brother have some fun.
what carb would you use on the g230rc engine ? , there is a 603 , a 771 , 990 etc
Hey do you have any tuning videos? Or is tuning not a big factor with gas engines.
Alright I’ll be looking out for that vid. Have a blessed Sunday bro.
Hi, I have the 997 on my KingMotor 002, the car died last week and won't restart. Its has a good spark, could the carb be blocked?
It sounds like your not getting fuel. The fuel lines could be squeezed off in the grommet in the tank. I recommend the high flow fuel line kit from DDM it keeps things flowing nicely. Also try not to use ethanol gas it’s detrimental to our little engines
@@eastsiderc Thanks for replying, I removed the grommet and then watch the return line when I pumped the ball, fuel flowing fine. I am at a loss as to what is going on
668 good to use for a 30.5cc ? Just want good all round power
I have baja 5b with 36cc and dual exhaust what do i need to set carb at
Well that will depend on your fuel mix the temperature outside and the relative humidity so I really cant say all I can tell you is to start at base settings or richer and take away or add fuel as per the sound of your engine. You want it leaving hard and screaming balls on the top end. And dont bury the idle screw or you will play hell trying to get it tuned right.
Fuel mix 50 to 1 and I'm in Dallas tx so it's pretty hot
Hi mate can you help me please I'm looking for factory settings on the Roven Baja Max 5TS 45cc with the 1191 carb I have just put a side pipe on it
Sure man I can help Base settings for the carb are as follows Low needle 1 3/8 out from closed and high needle 1 7/8 our from closed it thats hard to fine then just start at 1 1/2 low and 2 out for the high and tune from there. Hope that helps ya brother!
@@eastsiderc thanks very much mate I appreciate it 👍
I don't suppose you have any stickers so I can put it on my car and show it off when I get videos for RUclips please
I sure dont have any more stickers but my mom is making more and Ill gladly send you some! Thank you for your support I appreciate you!!
@@eastsiderc OK thanks Bro. I'm new to RUclips. I've watched loads of your videos since I got into the hobby since I became disabled 6years ago
Good day bro...is 997 good for g320rc?..,thank you in advance.
I would not use it because a stock g320 come with an 1107 which is a more proper carb for it! You’ll get more top end rpms with the 1107.
Thank you sir...,i bought secondhand goped bigfoot ,g320 installed but the carb in it is a wyj 138 so i want to replace the carb but the available carb for our country is 997 only...
Is it good replacement sir?
What carb comes on a Rovan 36cc?
1191 same as 1107
What do u recommend on a full mod zenoah 32
An 1107 for sure as thats what comes stock on a stock 32 so degrading to a 990 would be putting a smaller carb on it giving it less fuel. Ut works but topend rpms are sacrificed.
will the ddm long stack fit on a wt997 without any issues?
Yes it will fit perfectly fine and clear the choke without issues !
@@eastsiderc Thanks! I really appreciate it! Keep up the great videos.
Hey man your very welcome! I hope you have a great evening! 🤝⛽️
Can you use a velocity stack for bashing on grass?
Sure you can! I used them on just about every engine. Sometimes a Vstack can kill or add torque thats one thing to keep in mind.
🇵🇹🇵🇹👍👍🇵🇹🇵🇹
There you brother Im working on getting my vids into a playlist so carburetor and other tech videos are grouped and easier to find
friend what is the best carburetor for the baja 5b 29cc, 990 or 1107?
For a 29 you can use either . 990 will give you a snappy low end and the 1107 you will sacrifice a little low end but gain Rpms. Typically a 990 is fine for a 29cc . You could always try both and see what one you like better.
@@eastsiderc Thks, I'll test it and come back here.
friend next year I will change my engine, which is better scz 29cc or 71cc Aliexpress?
