- Should you buy the iPad 10? Is it worth it over the iPad 9 or the iPad Air 5? When I first saw the iPad 10, I was SO EXCITED because it looked like Apple addressed some of the complaints about the previous models. And that part is still true - this is THE BEST entry level iPad ever - we have a new design, a larger display, and Apple actually did something with this iPad that they haven’t done on ANY OTHER IPAD - EVER - But when I started taking a closer look, I realized that the iPad 10 might not really make a lot of sense.

It's not a big deal, but the fact that you said you found the iPad 10 for $367 and "I'll put links in the description" within the same sentence led me to believe that I'd have a chance at seeing that price point so close to your video release.

I got mines on sale for 369.99 during Christmas. I was going back and forth between this and the Air. But for 369 the display and speed this is everything I need. Great Value and love this Ipad

I went with the M2 Pro 11, but if I hadn’t I’d go with an Air 5 when it hits discounts. Not only do you have a better display and more future-proof chip, but the accessories it supports are better quality than the 10. Plus, you can find plenty of deals on the Air/Pro Magic Keyboard. I went with an Amazon Renewed model for almost 50% off.

For A person who will buy an alternative pencil and does not transfer files , apple 10th gen is gr8.
Ipad air 4 is now too old to buy it was launched in 2020 ,it's been 3 yrs so if you are buying alternative pencil or no pencil and don't transfer files ipad 10th gen is better than air 4
And yeah there is only a slight difference in their display

I've had an iPad 10 since February, my first iPad, I'm really enjoying it!
Thankfully I have little need for a $100+ pencil, so that’s no issue. Also, there are cheaper ones which work just as well for me since I’m not an artist or frequent stylus user. But yeah, the Apple Pencil compatibility or lack thereof for 2nd gen is ridiculous.

I have the iPad Pro 11 m1 and the 10th generation. Sometimes I get confused on which one I’m picking up .The Look and feel are very similar. Only noticeable difference is the promotion and colors . Every app and website runs the same . So if you’re a casual user and can find it under 400 .I think it’s a great purchase. Especially for kids.young adults.
I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who uses the pencil regularly

And please don’t compare to the air 4 when the air 5 is out Grab a 3rd party pencil for cheaper and taking note light sketches and drawing work just fine . Now if u looking for pro illustrations and pro task save n get a pro model that’s common sense!

And more importantly, the gen 10 has a non laminated display, usb c 2.0, design flaw that causes it to bend easily. With the a14 chip and everything you can get an air 4 for about the same or cheaper which is an objectively better tablet
The usb 2.0 isn't really that bad but it's non lamintaed. Pretty much almost all phones amd tablets are laminated at this point especially at this price but apple made this non laminated to make the writing experience worse than the higher end ones on purpose

And most wouldn’t buy the air 5 over the 10 th gen jus for a better chip if u can get it for 150-200 bucks cheaper. This would kill da air line up completely. Apple aslo wouldn’t be able to sell the refurbished air 4s if the 10th generation did the same stuff with a slightly better camera .
@@dirtydirtsgt4751 i use it regularly and albeit the charging is slightly annoying, the pencil is flawless. Non laminated screen can create a floating effect, but you quickly adjust to it.
My dad bought this for me for Christmas so I could do digital art. We first got the 2nd gen pencil, didn't work, 1st gen pencil, thought it was broken, did it again, didn't work, found out that THE 10TH GEN IPAD DOESENT EVEN WORK WITH APPLE PENCILS. first and LAST time I'll ever get an apple product.
It works with the first generation Apple Pencil. Read the manual.

It sounds like people only hate on this ipad is bc of the pencil. Yet people still buy it then complain. Its simple, dont buy it. Theres nothing wrong with this besides maybe the price but if u are saying its shit bc of the pencil, then u have bigger issues to deal with

I haven’t really seen anyone say it’s S because of the pencil. From my perspective - you just need to be aware of the implications in the user experience and decide that it works for you.
You don’t want a laminated display on entry level ipads. They are purchased for kids who will break the screen. Non laminated means a cheap replacement cover glass instead of hundreds for an entire display.
Its a life saver.
replacement cost is lower - I mention this in many videos. It's also good for workplace tablets.
this one is not an entry level ipad anymore it costs more than 400$ without the pen!
@@Sara-pk8wv It is entry-level, just that for a year, due to the recession, Apple is still selling the iPad 9. The iPad 10 will become the cheapest next year, and its price will drop. That is why it has to have non-laminated displays, as these sell in the millions to schools, kids, businesses, Health, etc., and they must be cheap to repair; otherwise, these groups would look elsewhere. It is nonsense to complain it is not laminated, as Apple's base model has never been laminated. Buy the Air if you want that!

I dont know why all youtubers tease for ipencil 1 gen on ipad 10! If you had a little bit of common sense then you can see that you get a small adaptor to charge pencil in the box itself! You can charge it via your ipad using your lightning cable! Ands its super easy! You just need a single point to criticise a good thing! 😅
I think the iPad in general is sort of stupid, but every RUclipsr complaining about the Apple Pencil seems redundant. I don’t think many people use the Apple Pencil.

@@chloetostige6299 We have six iPads in our extended family, and none of them uses a stylus. I think that the pro models are where the Apple Pencil is mostly used for Procreate and other Pro apps.

It's still better than the 9th gen iPad, cheaper than the iPad Air, and bigger than the iPad Mini.
The only reason this isn't a better choice for someone just looking for a bigger screen is going for some variation of a renewed iPad Pro between $250-450 on ebay or amazon. Or an iPad Air 4th gen which can be found for a bit less than a new 10th gen.
I think the reason people decided to hate on it was Apple's weird decision to keep selling the 9th gen as new because the newer one isn't replacing its cheaper predecessor.
in my country the air 4 is still costlier than the 10th gen and i can't spend that extra money at the same time i hate that design on the cheaper 9th gen so i think maybe the 10th gen fits me well but then i come to youtube to see everyone asking to go either for the 9th gen or the air version, dilemma I've been facing from the last few months..
I’ll go with iPad Air 5 or 4 (if find a good deal refurbished) as it has 2nd Gen Pencil Support and Magic Keyboard Folio support.
I pad 10 battery is shocking. My brand new one literally runs out in less than an hours light use for example looking at short videos on here or scrolling the internet doing emails etc. disgraceful.
Don’t expect too long for support for the iPad 10. I’ll say it likely gets 5 years of updates. It’ll likely get the same amount of updates as the 2018/ 2020 pros

@@kayruo5109 If that works for you, then nothing wrong with that! I would highly recommend the 2020 iPad Air (apple refurbished) over this model as it is a much better tablet. you get Gen 2 Apple Pencil instead of get 1, a laminated display, a better usb 3.0 vs 2.0 port for data transfer. :)
Five years worth of updates that’s pretty worth it. I have the iPad 10 generation
All iPads since iOS 12 have gotten 6 or 7 years of software updates so I think it is safe to assume that the iPad 10th generation will receive 6-7 years of software updates. Apple is also still giving security updates to iPadOS 15 so it might even get an extra year of security updates totaling the total software updates period to 7-8 years.

Honestly being an iPad 10 owner the screen not being laminated is the worst thing about this device. To anyone that has an iPhone Pro don’t buy this device, it is glaringly obvious between the screen lamination and refresh rate. Makes it a chore to actually use the iPad and you have to find ways to actually use it instead of your phone.
Where are you getting this 5-7 year life expectancy? My 2 year old iPad Air4 is already showing battery charge management issues with iPadOS16. At this point (assuming I even stay in the Apple ecosystem) I would only buy the cheapest iPad, and use a generic blue-tooth keyboard instead of blowing more money on another LogiTech keyboard case that becomes useless when the iPad tanks. And I would expect the iPad to work with my Gen2 Pencil (strike two for Apple)

I am thinking about upgrading my 8th gen 128 gb for a 9 or 10, but I don't know if 64gb is enough (having in mind that I only use for studying (books for uni etc), and playing games sometimes).
What would be your advice on this? Is 64gb enough? In my country the difference between prices is not huge, so I was thing about getting 10th :)
My first question would be - why are you upgrading? Then look at whether the new choices provide enough of a value for the cost. Hope that helps.

I saw your 2 videos about ipad 10 and ipad 10 vs ipad air.. I just want to use the ipad to study and sometimes watch a movie.. Still do you think it's better to invest in the iPad air?

I have my Ipad 10gen and think it is absolutely fab. I use a £15 stylus from amazon and honestly it works great. I use it to make digital art on procreate, work stuff, emails, meetings (landscape camera is great for it) I use microsoft 365 apps often, youtube etc. Battery life is great and it is a really good display and the A14 bionic chip is quite fast.
I was going to swap mine for air 5 but changed my mind as for me this works just fine for all I need to do and it's a great device.

I hate kickstands. If I were buying this iPad I would skip Apple’s (and Logitech’s) new keyboards and instead buy the one that ESR came out with for it. Better value and way better ergonomics.

I don't get this model at all. I feel it's just a way to make people buy an even more expensive ipad. Apart from the new desing, you don't get much more than with the ninth gen.
The iPad 10th gen is way better then the nine tbh. The design is so out dated .u get more screen, 5g ,usbc, better camera,better design, better speakers,faster Wi-Fi better chip . And you can find for 360 . Vs 9th gen 320 not that bad on price .

Hello i was planning on buying apple ipad gen 10 with 64gb space storage and i was wondering if buying the other apple gen 10 ipad with 256 gb (of course this cost much more than the 64gb) is worth the money and experience than having only 64 space storage... I mostly use my ipad for playing,reading and browsing like previous ipad gen 6 and i dont have the skill or talent for drawing nor sketching therefore i dont mind having only the ipad and not the ipad with pen. So is ipad gen 10 with 256 gb storage is better than 64 gb storage?

The 10th is great for a 1st table. I have both 11 and 10th .Don’t get the 9th .it’s so outdated. If you don’t plan on editing photos or videos then 11inch is not needed at all .

This tablet is worth it when it is on sale. I wanna say I saw it for $349.99 during the holiday. Only down side is the Apple Pencil, but if you do not need it then not a bad value.
I just got the 10th gen today and I so far love it. I’m not a Apple Pencil user so that “inconvenience” is not one for me. I’ll probably get a third party keyboard case of some sort eventually. But I like the new design for sure.

I'm so tired of everyone kicking the ipad 10 because of the pencil. I have the first generation pencil. No issue with it. I have a firewire connected to a charger separately, then just charge via that. No issue at all. I did it that way with the Ipad gen 9. To be honest, I'm glad I didn't have to buy a gen 2 pencil. Ipad 10 is nicer, only issue is cost, but with ipad 9 trade in, it cost me about $220. Yes the apple keyboard cost sucks, but instead I use a logitech bluetooth keyboard, which works fines.
Entirely it is nonsense, part of the wave of creators making agenda-driven reviews on Apple products. Of course, the solution is far from perfect, but it will not be life-destroying, as some of the hyperbole makes out. Also, Adonit and Logitech offer cheaper alternatives, so if it is such a hardship to these creators, they should buy a cheaper alternative!
I appreciate you sharing your perspective. The Pencil implementation is a matter of user experience - not life and death. I think it’s important to note those types of things as they may matter to potential buyers. Naturally - it’s a choice each buyer has to make according to what works best for them (and is within their budget).

I find it funny that reviewers are always surprised that Apple charges soooo much for accessories. They have always charged too much for everything they make because people will pay for it to stay current
Thank you so much for watching and for the input. I can't speak for other reviewers. For me it's a ratio - $350 for a magic keyboard for a $1000 ipad pro is still a lot, but it's a smaller fraction of the price. In this case it's more than 50%. Hope that clears it up.
Apple charges too much, but the iPad ecosystem is so good that there are better, cheaper options. So making a fuss about it is OTT. Could you do a video on the great alternatives? The iPad 10 keyboard is not worth £250; that is my take, now move on and recommend a cheaper one! Logitech alone has three options, from £90-£160!

Do you think a brand new 2021 11 inch m1 iPad pro is more future proof than an ipad 9 - both w 256 gb of storage? I paid $650 for the pro and $400 for gen9 but applecare and accessories are also more w pro.

it has the M1 chip whereas the 9 has an A13 chip which will make the pro last longer plus you will get laminated glass, Apple Pencil 2 compatibility, 4 speakers instead of 2, a flashlight and for me i like my iPad w out a home button bc i think a lot of us are now more habituated w the no home button screen
but if u see by price wise, the iPad 9 obv seems more tempting as it’s just 400$ for u ig but i think it’s 329 atm but anyways I feel like if u want the pro features (except the flashlight and speakers) but at a cheaper rate, iPad Air 5 or a refurbished iPad Air 4 would be great.

I saved $250 on the 256 pro 11 inch m1 which usually goes for $899 at Target and it is no longer sold new from Apple. Wish I’d gotten the 128gb for $550 instead at Target but I’m also mad that applecare is $129 instead of $69 for ipad9

I would choose this over the 9th Gen ipad because of the modern design and the usb c port. About the pencil, can you charge it thru power bank or electric current instead of charging thru the iPad?
This makes decision making a little hard for me just because of the apple pen. I’m wanting a good entry level I pad like this since I just graduated to start my business.. it just seems a lot of trouble for the Apple pens for the money you’re paying on this particular iPad.. sad.

Of course, you do not have to buy the Apple Pencil; there are some great alternatives that are also much cheaper. Do not watch reviewers lambast the Pencil and take it too seriously, buy an alternative, an advantage of the iPad accessories ecosystem. Especially as the new Apple Pencil will be arriving sooner than later.

For a first ipad, is this ipad more then enough? Ill use mostly to browse youtube, social network, watch netflix and gaming. Just a way to have a bigger screen and sabe some iphone battery

What would you recommend? Im torn between a iPad 10 base model or 256GB version or a iPad Air 5 64GB/base model only.
All i want is a affordable tablet, mainly for drawing/writing for my bachelor studies since paper is so annoying and hard to organize, partially for watching movies, probably editing photos and controlling my mirrorless camera in the field so as glorified camera remote with live view, for browser ofc etc.
So not really demanding or special tasks. I wish a HDR screen would be possible at a affordable iPad, but looking at the options HDR/XDR screen is not in my budget, as much it would fit to my 16" MacBook Pros XDR screen.
What about a refurbished Air 4 256?
@@TechGearTalk That was also in consideration, but its pretty expensive, something like 680€ Wifi, then i would have to take the Wifi+Modem version which cost only 50€ or so more refurbished.
I wish 2018 Pro models, at best with the keyboard case and pencil would be more affordable and trustworthy 2nd hand.
