- Bass shaker got noisy and felt different so I did some investigating. It's held together with T20 torx screws, I found it to be a broken plastic spring on the top side. I bent up some staples and set them into the plastic with my solder iron set to 400c, I also added a little plastic by melting a zip tie. I'm not sure how long this repair will last but it feels as good as new and didn't cost any money.
For anyone feeling frisky who can use a cad program, the outside diameter is 82.5 mm, The center hole is 4.5 mm with 9 mm countersink. The extrusion that mates up to the magnet is 12 mm diameter.
I thought about this for a while when mine snapped after a small issue before, just performed it today on each side with some strandy speaker wire. So far it working, ill try to update in a few weeks or when it breaks. My attempt wasn't as methodical as this either
thanks for the video, really helped me!
Hi, what's the white sticky stuff around the moving part? Is it grease? Thermal paste? I'm disassembling an aura sound bass shaker atmo and the stuff between the shell and the element seemed like solid wax. I removed it entirely atmo.
Would it be possible to make a replacement part with a 3D printer?
How about using some plastic solvent glue to melt and fuse the broken pieces together.
Would a scan from standard printer/ scanner be a good start to get the dimensions etc. right. You could import to cad and extrude ......
I just purchased a 3-D printer primarily to try and find a solution to this problem. But I have discovered is the real learning curve is not figuring out how to use the printer. The difficulty is teaching yourself how to use CAD software. My first prototypes failed almost immediately. But I’m exploring different designs and filaments.
Have you done a 3D files yet?
@@GurvanBHC7 Is that an easier to use cad program?
@@Redmist370Z Have you done any 3d prints yet? If you have working prints, it would be nice if you gave me the link to the print. It would be a big help.
@@stickanimations4611 I spent so much time designing these I just cant give away my IP. However, I will send you a couple beta's FOC.
i dont think it hold long, i suggest make 3d file and print it, or order somewhere to print it
Silver Kale I have some test prototypes that I have 3d printed out of nylon. I will send you two FOC if you want to put them through their paces.
Does anyone have a Dayton Audio Bst-2 3d printed spring to share? It will be really helpful
I purchased 4 of these. So far I have had 2 of them break in under a year. All the same issue. Can someone please 3d print these and sell them to me? :)
I know this is old post, but these have a 5 year warranty, what was your experience returning for replacement?
@@zerolight9420 very good. I’ve blown three of them in 3-4 years and replaced with little to know questions asked.
One time I spent 10x longer trying to fix something when I realized I could have done a simple side job and bought a brand new shaker
