    Thanks a lot - followed your tutorial and it works great.
    I added one thing: "DC 12V-24V Low-pass Filter NE5532" (see ebay/amazon).
    It allowed me to keep subwoofer crossover at 80hz and to cut off 50-80hz range from the bass shaker.
    Without it sometimes higher frequencies were leaking into my couch!

    Great video!!!
    I just installed some bass shakers in my home theater and I am completely floored with the results. This was far one of the best investments I’ve made so far to my home theater. I have a full Dolby Atmos 7.4.4 setup. I have four 12 inch subwoofers included in my setup. These bass shakers are a must have period. I own the AuraSound AST-2B-4 Pro Bass Shaker Tactile Transducers. I’m using three Emotiva A-100 amplifiers to push 6 bass shakers. Just one bass shaker for each my theater seats.

    One problem is that as you split an output channel this way you decrease the mvDC to each input by I believe a loss of 2-3dB, which causes input starvation and causes input signal distortion. That is why preamps are used, to maintain not only voltage input but waveform integrity. Might be worth checking this out. Also, being the RCA Cable would likely have a long run to remote location, you must consider any AC Circuitry that it runs near.
    Years ago, I had a car system that the owner had sworn he had grounded properly, however; he had ran his RCA Amp lines near power to car accessory wiring down one side. Well, he could not get rid of alternator noise. I pointed out the RCA Lines needed to be isolated. It happened that the passenger side had no power ran down and we simply moved the lines. AC Noise is not always blocked by shielding.
    Great Success and Rock The Tunes!!!

      @@lollipolly-am4323 I use SimHub and set the effects tdo how it feels like 30Hz-80Hz range. Cross-overs usually cuts all high frequencies over 80Hz so your bass only receives a signal < 80Hz. These bass shakers can prob go dow nto 20Hz...depends on how id feels on your rig. Mounting basses on plywood lessens the power so I suggest bolting to metal. I'm using the plate that comes with cheap TV wall mount since it has slots predrilled and comes with many bolts for $15.

      hi if you haven't hooked up to your subwoofer out on the back of your receiver, all you have to do is go into your settings. in your settings there will be a subwoofer cutoff frequency. if you're unsure how to do that just look at your model number and find your manual online. Yamaha has all their manuals online for record.

    You may want to go slightly higher than 100 watts on the power supply, maybe 105 or 110 to counteract the small inefficiency of the amplifier boards. And nonetheless, those amplifier boards can usually only supply 100 watts into two ohms, and those bass shakers are probably four, meaning you will not experience the full potential of them. But nonetheless, a good project that adds another element to a standard movie experience.

    • @Toid
      @Toid  7 лет назад

      James Collins you are right. I didn't want to go too far into the inefficiencies of the amplifiers. This Sure amplifier is actually a 2x50 watt at 4 ohms. If you want to check it out, here's the amplifier. It's a pretty awesome little amplifier. www.parts-express.com/sure-electronics-aa-ab32178-2x50w-4-ohm-class-d-audio-amplifier-board-tpa3116--320-3342

    what if I get signal loss in case of hooking up several amplifiers? is there a device / board or something like that, which can amplify signal out of my receiver and be able to hook up several shaker amplifiers??

    • @Toid
      @Toid  6 лет назад

      I am assuming you are asking about the RCA output. And if you split it too much, that you actually hinder the signal. They do seel RCA signal boosters if you need it. Most people do not need it. Of course, if you are really concerned with that, it may be best for you to use a subwoofer amp or rack amp to power all your bass shakers.

    • @Toid

      Donald Clay It depends on the subwoofer plate amplifier you buy. Typically they have a knob that can adjust the cutoff frequency from 40hz to 200hz.

      Another option, is to use a 2.1 amp. Then you can hook up 1 bass shaker to the subwoofer channel and the 2 speakers to the other 2 channels. This way you only need 1 power source. Now I personally have not used this board, so I cannot speak to how well it performs, but it should work for what you are trying to do. www.aliexpress.com/item/E74-2-1-High-Power-Power-Amplifier-50w-50W-100W-HIFI-Digital-Subwoofer-Amplifier-Verst-Board/32604810447.html?spm=2114.01010208.3.1.cDldPJ&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_4_10065_10068_10000074_10000032_119_10000025_10000029_10000028_10060_10000067_10062_10056_10055_10000062_10054_10059_10099_10000022_10000013_10103_10102_10000016_10096_10000018_10000019_10000056_10000059_10052_10053_10107_10050_10106_10051_10000053_10000007_10000050_10084_10083_10000047_10080_10082_10081_10110_10111_10112_10113_10114_10115_10037_10033_10000041_10000044_10078_10079_10077_10000038_10073_10000035_10122_10121,searchweb201603_3,afswitch_3,single_sort_3_default&btsid=b18cd23b-2587-4125-babe-3aac8108fddc Granted, this amp probably will not be as good as the sure amplifier I used in the video.

    so I want to hock up a small amplifier board. but my problem is: most I found are without any bass tuning or cutoff, and got an imput of maybe 20W, but telling me they have 100W of power^^ So Im kinda helpless right now.

      DESCENT Do you have an aftermarket head unit I your car? if so, you just need to use the sub out RCA cable to hook up to the shown amplifier which can input a 12v source. then your head unit already has the cut off in its settings.

    • @descent8275

      123Toid wouldn't I loose 50% of power with only 12V?
      just changed my mind and took the project into my living room.
      bought a 240V to 24V 20A up to 42V converter.
      two shakers and two 24-34V boards with 80W per channel.
      kinda pumped!
      got two amps and a big pwrsupply for "upgradeability" 😅

    • @Toid
      @Toid  7 лет назад

      DESCENT you would not lose power going with a 12v source, you just would need more amperage to get the same power. remember volts x Amps = Watts. so with a 12v source you'd need 8 amps to get 96 watts or about 48 watts per speaker. Unfortunately I couldn't tell you how many amps your car would supply. If it is less than 8 amps then, you can always get a buck converter which will take a 12v source to a 24v source.
      I am pumped to hear your putting it in your car! I can't wait to hear what you think of it.

    • @descent8275
      @descent8275 7 лет назад +1

      123Toid well, more amps equal more heat. I gues the board would hit a limit in some way.
      I may get a dedicated Monoblock for my car just for the shakers. So I could easily change the volume and cut of frequency.

      That is a great question. If you want to run two 50w bass shakers, you can use just one 2x50w wondom board. However you do need a 100w power supply to power the board. Mark Newcombe great question. You are right that you're not getting up here 50 Watts because of the efficiency and loss. But I'm getting somewhere between 40 and 45 watts and have absolutely no complaints. They got harder than most would want. Of course you can and just sat with your gain. If you want more Headroom you can definitely use a different amp, you just have to be careful with powering it too much. They have an RMS of 50 Watts, but I haven't found anywhere words published how many watts you can actually give it without blowing it. So I'd rather stay on the safe side

      123Toid thanks for the reply mate. I must be thinking slightly off again im doing research for a race sim which im really looking forward to but only really have experience with car audio. I totally agree lets not push stacks of watts into the shaker but i thaught it is better to have higher rated amps running less then there max because its safer on the amp and i could be wrong but i also believe it gives a cleaner signal. As i want to mount and wire it all in the rig im trying to make sure im not going to over heat orcworse still burn out the amps. Thanks so much fo making this best ive seen honestly. I can just go and buy butt kicker set up but i just get no satisfaction unless i built modded or set up myself i thunk i enjoy the build more than the end result abd im always trying to do it on a budget. I even taught myself how to work with fiberglass and sew just so i could build my own race seat which ended up bwing carbon. Keep em coming mate the journey is always more memorable than the destination.

    One criticism. This is a 10 minute how to video where you don't actually connect anything up and show it working. It would make sense to actually plug stuff in to demonstrate results, rather than just talking about what you would do.

      Bl_Eric Eric Stump Yeah, it'll work. However, if you don't have a low pass filter on it, they won't work for long. They aren't designed to reproduce high frequencies. The one I used want you to cross it over at 80 hz. Meaning anything over that has the potential to make the driver fail rather quickly. And if it doesn't fail, it'll sound terrible, as it starts playing high frequency sounds that you don't want to hear.

      123Toid yea true but I just connect shit and if it works I'm happy I got a sub box with a aux input and aux output so if I just play music through the sub it plays low frequencies then I connect my stereo to it and it plays high frequencies and everything sounds good

    Thanks for the video. I am in the process of looking for an amp with 3.5mm input that can work with a single Dayton Audio 50 W bass shaker.
    Can u pls explain how u calculated the total power to 48 watts? I was thinking 6 Amp 12 V will be 72 Watts?
    Also what will happen if i attached a mono 100W amp to this bass shaker:

    Thanks

    You typically offer good videos and clear and thorough explanation of the tech your are covering, this video is a very unfortunate one. You know it didn't offered the minimum of your capabilities and knowledge. I'm still watching your videos however for me, this one was a thumb down!
