I'm a Brit and spent a month travelling round the States last summer. New Orleans was far and away the highlight of the trip for me. The music, the people, the food, the beautiful buildings, the optimism of the residents in the face of recent events. Just an amazing city. I was lucky enough to see the Rebirth Brass Band at the Maple Leaf,Bar, after a local recommended them. I'd never heard of them. Now I'm wearing out my vinyl copy of their album and coming on RUclips to hear more! And dancing in my seat...

Although where I live (Mobile, Al.) is the birthplace of Mardi Gras, I enjoy New Orleans Mardi Gras the most. When I was living in NOLA, I never went home for Mardi Gras.
