Basic rules to convert ERD to Relational Model

The focus of this video is on the provision of basic rules in order to convert ER diagram into relational model. The rules to convert strong entities, weak entities and relationships (Unary, Binary 1:1, 1:M, M:1, M:M , ternary relationships) have been discussed in the current video.

Excuse my misuse of terminology if any, I'm kind of a newbie, but does Schema Refinement, Decomposition, and Normalization happen before the ERD is mapped/converted to the Relational Model or does that happen after? Thank you.

Both are totally different concepts. U see we use ERD to represent our database in such a way that it is more understandable. English phrases or sentences can be confusing for some individuals.
On contrary, when we have ERD we go for its refinement in order to reduce or eliminate anomalies and data redundancy.
Once database is normalized, failures can be avoided.

To mention, we normalize the given schema. Relational model can directly be converted into the real or actual database. It is suggested to convert ERD to Relational Model and apply normalization concepts.
