It will handle a 10 x 13 pouch, which allows for the maximum amount of the pouch to fill the chamber and to cross the heating bar. The maximum height in the middle is about 3.75 inches (4 inches is too high). The recommended standard for calculating cool down time is to add an additional second to the sealing time. (E.g., 2 second seal time; 3 second cool down). In addition, it is also recommended that lid be held down by hand prior to starting the vacuuming. I nervously purchased this same unit but, surprisingly, for such a cheap Chinese machine, it works great. No regrets so far. Thanks for the video review.
Can it seal aluminium retort pouch?
I've had this machine now for about nine months. After a few hundred uses its been flawless.
The fit and finish is good and the controls are simple and easy to understand .
Adding oil was simply using the supplied instructions.
I bought the exact same unit and its actually pretty good. I do food, ammo, medicine and any other prepper stuff. No regrets.
I have been looking at this machine for a while now. I could not find any good or bad about it. Glad I found this. Going to buy it now.
Glad you found info here! After using it for a few months now... I do still like it but I guess I'm just used to a commercial machine that REALLY sucks the the bag around the product TIGHT. It does do a good job but it is after all a $300 machine. MUCH better and I'm sure in the long run better than the Food Saver! Thanks for tuning in and subscribe and like... Any other questions, leave them here!
Thanks for this review. Im gonna buy one
Thanks for the video. My takeaway after this and reading a few reviews is if you want a lot of handholding - this may not be it. However if you're okay with undoing a few screws and ensuring the hoses and wires are properly connected - this is a great value.
You're gonna have to undo a screw to put oil into it. I have not had any problems with any wires or hoses. I agree that it is a great value, and I'm still using it and happy that I spent the money on this "value" unit. Thanks fur watching and I'm hoping to do another review / comparison of another unit soon. Don't forget to subscribe.
How has it held up?
I've had mine for about two years now. Its all in Chinese. It didn't really occur to me to go surfing for info on it. Today is the first time I've topped up the Oil in the pump. I don't use it extensively. It works. It works good. It does its job. Liquids need to be cold or room temperature though, as warm liquids will tend to boil when a vacuum is applied..
There is a hole in the bottom front right corner that goes directly to that Manometer. If any gunk (liquid) goes down that hole, your manometer's stuffed. It won't interfere with operation but you'll lose your gauge indication. I have yet to look into if it can be replaced or serviced. You also need to attend to wiping it down and ensuring it is dry otherwise rust pitting will occur on the inner chamber.
Food Hygiene! Keep it clean, keep it sanitary, keep it dry, and it'll do the job quite well.
sorry to be so offtopic but does anybody know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account??
I was dumb forgot my login password. I would appreciate any help you can give me.
@Caleb Anderson instablaster ;)
@Tyler Martin Thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and Im trying it out atm.
Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Tyler Martin it did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thanks so much, you really help me out !
@Caleb Anderson you are welcome =)
great review. will buy one unit myself
Thanks for taking the time to check it out!
The listed dimensions ar 16”h x 18”d x 14”w on the sale site but it is the same model! Mobile Vectra 2 oil is perfect for this machine. It is $42.00 per gal. and should be changed often. These machines are not known for fit and finish but are more reliable than countertop sucking vacuum units. You: “Finest high quality screwdriver!” Me: “BWAHAHAHAHA!!!” (ROFLMBO). By the way-It just seems odd that your machine suffers ‘Ed’ during performance....(anxiety?)
Great review! Hella-impressive! I’m feeling bad about my $6700 vacuum sealer for my skin care product business!
Nice review I just order 1 on amazon $349 simple but works and the pump look like regular vacuum pump for a/c service. Thanks
Awesome, glad the review helped you. It's funny you mention the pump. I work for a A/C wholesale company and one of the pumps we sell looks almost exactly like the one in this machine. I was glad once I saw it! Hope it works out for you.
@@ItsallabouttheRack do you have a link for the pump oil. I have been looking for #67 and cant find.
Great review partner. Looks like all you need. After 35 yrs in HVAC I guess I could hook a more powerful pump even a 2 stage. NAW!! Have plenty out in shop but if it ain’t broken not dicking with it. What is biggest bag you can use. Some of the others will do like a whole brisket or pork butt. But most over a grand too.
No, sorry it's not that big to be able to do a brisket, maybe a flat or just the point but definitely not a full packer! Sorry I'm just getting back to you now, I'm not getting the notifications from YT.
Very good sharing.
didnt suck at all, good job actually, no BS....Thanks a lot.... I missed the Pun first time, concentrating too hard! 😄
Hey! Thanks for the shout out! John Setzler at Man Cave Meals is also a friend of mine and has this and so far has no issues.. The VacMaster is really a much better overall unit, but this a great for those who dont want to shell out $800
Yep, I totally agree. I've looked at the Vacmaster and I did see your vid as well and would have loved to got one but the budget unit fit the wallet😉
I found one on Amazon under the brand name KUNHEWUHUA that was about 800. I did the 350 ebay thing myself. :)
Just a note on this unit, the motor is 120 watts, which is a good measure for how much vacuum it will pull (as I read). Weston sells units that start as low as 200 watts and go up to 900 watts. VacMasters are 400 watts. A Food Saver sealer is about 120 watts. So this unit might not pull a much better vacuum then a typical Food Saver. One difference is a Food Saver style machine sucks air out of a bag which makes it inefficient. But regardless, the vacuum pump on this unit appears to be far less powerful than the more expensive units.
I will agree with you on this. But I feel it does pull a better vacuum than a Food Saver as well as being able to use it for liquids makes it a better value especially once you start comparing cost of bags. Excellent points and good research on your part.
@@ItsallabouttheRack I plan to use it for a meal prep business with liquids, now i am confident it will do much better then my shitty food saver
Thanks for the great video, I'm definitely considering getting one. Can a quart mason jar fit in the vacuum unit on its side? I saw on the Man Cave Meals video that a pint jar will fit upright (I was pleasantly surprised by that).
I haven't personally tried it myself but I did see his video as well. I'm trying to get a unit from Vacmaster to do a comparison. We've been in the world for a little bit and hoping to get it done. Thanks for watching and please subscribe, this year I'll be doing more videos and I'm a brand ambassador for Three Little Pigs rubs and sauces.
Thanks for the video! Have you tried using a retort pouch to see if it will seal?
I have not. I think the big thing with a bag like that would be if it would stand up to the heat to seal that type of bag.
Ive blown a fuse but cant find it do you know where its at
That machine is a trip. I want one, but I dont' does that make sense? Thanks for the review!
I hear ya Todd! My Food Saver had bit the dust and I knew that I didn't want to drop another $100 or more plus the cost of those bags on the same unit that only lasted me for 4 years. I do buy in bulk so I think it's justified
My oil level line is at 3/4 on the window but the sheet you had in the video says fill half way
You should be fine, but may see a little bit of smoke possibly, it's nothing to worry about if you do. The half full is the best way to fill because of the oil heating up and expanding, so as long as you're not running it for extensive periods of time you'll be fine.
I just bought this same chamber sealer. Used it for a rib roast I cut into steaks , ribs & fat chunks for sausage making. I got mixed results. The ribs and the fat chunks had a very tight pack. No air inside. The steaks it sealed well but felt loose in bag like all the air didn't get pulled out. Does the meat being packaged need to be frozen first for a better tight packaging? Any tips to make this unit better? I noticed the steel that the silicone seal sits on is well poorly finished. Scratches and some dips. Not super smooth. Thinking about running a strip of tape?
No it doesn't need to be frozen. I have noticed a package or two that has not vac'd as good as the "usual", I'll just start over. Not sure why this happens but it's definitely not the norm. The tape needs to be the same type as far as I know, which is a great resistant tape. I have sourced it off you need some I can give you a link.
@@ItsallabouttheRack The tape I was talking about would go where the silicone seal mates to the chamber. On top the scratches in the steel may be causing a slow leak. But yes please send me the link.
Curious how it would work for freezing peas and sweet corn that are not frozen and pretty soft already
It would work great. Obviously the longer the pull down in the chamber the harder pack it will become. Personally I think it would be fine.

Hello, Will this machine do a retort pouch ? and is the heating bar replaceable?
I have not tested a retort pouch. Yes you can get parts, which I'm trying to work out a deal with a manufacturer now. If that gets done I'll be doing a follow up video for the unit showing how to replace the parts. Stay tuned and thank you for watching.
Nice review! I have mine now and burned the Teflon trying to tune the settings. Does anyone know where to get the replacement? Maybe the whole sealing bar can be upgraded..also my unit sometimes buzzes very loudly during the last step. Is this normal?
Did you ever find the replacement bar?
@@tskroyal9198 no, but the replacement teflon was pretty easy to find and replace. I just found a roll (one side is sticky) that's wider than the bar and cut it to length. I needed to sand the heat strip to remove the burnt old stuff before applying the new teflon that first time. I can make a video of the replacement process if anyone is interested.
@@1empyre1life I don't think my sealing bar is getting any power, I put my multimeter in the post holes and didn't get anything. How do you know if its the teflon or the bar itself that needs replacing?
For the money you get a chamber, controls and a pump.
This is worth it as you can always purchase another pump to get a faster vacuum with same chamber size,
The pump still pulls down to 29/30, just takes longer,
Have one on the way and will DIY for more control features.
Not sure that the pump is the flaw of this unit, could it be better, I'm sure!. It is a basic unit, and therefore the heat strip is cheap and needs to be replaced more than a quality unit would come with. Also the hold down bar is too light it closes down over the bag but doesn't secure it and at times if the bag is not in far enough it can pull thru.
@@ItsallabouttheRack Thanks for the info.
May look into weighting the bar and look into the power delivered to the strip.
Could be power supply not strong enough as no doubt the strip is DC powered.
Thanks for the video.
@@jeffhack6839 most welcome for the video! I think if anything the heat strip is over powered or maybe powered correctly but the tape that covers it is just cheap. What will happen is that the tape will shrink and crunch up and what happens is the bag takes on this crease and sometimes not seal. You have to press the tape back down between each bag to make sure it's smooth.
@@ItsallabouttheRack Ah. Thanks for that. May have to then look into throttling back the current with a variable resistor and have some bag wastage.
Another DIY!!!!
@@jeffhack6839 It looks like the transformer is for the sealer heat bar. Low voltage high current. What makes you think it is DC? AC is used for heating elements all day long in pretty much every oven.
I'm looking for a good companion unit to go with my Harvest Right freeze drier. Do you know if this will seal 5 mil mylar bags?
Sorry, I'm not sure what thickness bags it can do up to.
Hi. Is it not automatic start to vacuum when you close the cover? Or you only need to press start always?
Yes, you need to press start every time you put the package inside and shut the lid
Is compressor oil and vacuum pump oil the same? They look similar and both devices are pumping air.
No they are not the same oil. Vacuum pump oil is formulated so that it will absorb moisture, this is why it needs to be changed every so often. If you were to fill up the oil with all the moisture that it could take, the moisture will bypass and this is when you can start breaking down you pump. Oil, and the correct oil is the life blood of this type of pump.
I"m really interested in this machine now. Have you used it with any liquids? I can't get my head around how it can seal without the liquid getting in the way.
It works well with liquids! The reason why is because it doesn't pull the vacuum from the bag like a food saver does, it pulls the vacuum from inside the chamber which the bag is a part of. It then allows the atmosphere to reenter the chamber, (the bag is sealed by this point) which puts the pressure on the bag causing that suck in. For a budget type machine, it works really good! Thanks for checking out the video, I really appreciate you taking your time!
Is there a particular brand of oil you use for the machine? or will any old pump oil suffice?
You are going to need a vacuum rated oil for this. I've been trying to work a deal with a manufacturer of parts including oil but have not come to terms yet. If you look on Amazon for vacuum pump oil, it's all the same.
Almost a year later.. Do you still like the unit? Still working ?? Thank you for the video!
Yep still working fine. No real issue. I think the major gripe I have is the tape on the sealer bar. It shrinks up than I expected and it being smooth is the life blood of the sealed bag. I need to look for a heavier grade and see if that helps. Overall still happy with my purchase!
@@ItsallabouttheRack what size tape does it use? I just ordered one
Thanks
What is the height of the inside lid? Does it seal canning jars well too?
It will not seal a standard canning jar.
I noticed that will you vacuum something with high moister content, the chamber fogs up. What am I doing wrong?
I've never noticed this myself. I would look at the length of time you have your machine set to vacuum, the longer the time, the more that the liquid will boil off. I would start by adjusting the time. Also double check your seal and make sure that is in good shape and there's nothing built up on it.
Hi!! Which oil is recommended please? Could it be brought off Amazon? Thank you
This oil would do the job... www.amazon.com/TSI-Supercool-V32-Accessories-Fluid_Ounces/dp/B008PKWHNK
Can you set the seal timer to zero? If so then i could tee off the vaccum hose for other attachments like jars and stuff
Yes you can run it all the way down to zero. Good idea, like to see that one work!
just lay your mason jars down in the chamber and run it with zero seal time.
@@DTMFJeff i bought the vacuum camber and you have to use the attachments. With a tee tap off the sucksion line.
Because laying the jars side ways would leak the product out
disonesto No laying mason jars on their side with lids and rings will not allow the contents to spill. There are RUclips videos on this. Now if you’re doing liquid that’s a different story
I have most of my food stored in mylar with oxygen absorbers (no vacuum).
Do you think it would be worth opening some of those and repackaging them with this machine?
Yes I do. The vacuum packing will last much longer.
@@ItsallabouttheRack thanks so much. I appreciate it.
I got one but the gate does not work? But I follow your instruction. can you help
Not sure what you mean by gate?
Great video! Do you recommend this machine or a foodsaver5800? It's for a small business but we pack around 2,500 pounds a year.
I'm not familiar with the FS 5800. Having said that I still like this unit, please keep in mind that I'm only using it for home use but I think it would hold up for light commercial use. I don't think you can go wrong with this unit for the price.
@@ItsallabouttheRack Thanks! We will buy this unit
Any update on the longevity of this machine? I'm very interested after this review.
I buy stuff in bulk and use it just about every weekend. It shows no signs of slowing down at this point. It is pretty simple inside and looks to have a good vacuum pump. The life blood of any pump is going to be the oil, so as long as you're keeping an eye on it and changing it once it becomes milky, it should last. I'm still happy with my purchase and feel that's its a much better investment over a Food Saver.
@@ItsallabouttheRack How is the used oil disposed of?
@@ItsallabouttheRack with your weekly use of the machine, how often have you had to change the oil?
The oil is not something you have to change after every use. I have not changed it at this point and it's the initial oil that was put into the unit. You can tell if the oil needs to be changed because it will start to get a milky color. I'm sure the oil could be desposed of by taking it to an auto parts store.
Hi. There's a little bit of oil smell when I operate the vacuum. Is that normal? Does it mean that I overfilled the pump? Should I drain it? Thanks!
Can you see the oil level? Is it in the middle or two thirds full? When you were filling it did you see the oil level come up in the glass? If you're not sure to any one of these I would say drain it and refill it. Hope this helps
@@ItsallabouttheRack Thank you so much for the quick reply. The oil level is above middle but less than 2/3. Is it safer to just drain some out just to be on the safe side? Many thanks!
@@jonblack7066 honestly I think you'll be fine. Don't forget this pump has never run before and has a "break in period". Actually I just ran mine for 6 bags for turkey that I sliced and I did see a little bit of smoke. I think some of it is vapor because you are pulling all of the moisture out of the chamber and that is a by product of it.
@@ItsallabouttheRack Got it, thank you so much. Since I'd already taken a picture to show you, though, here it is: postimg.cc/9rFwyLvW. Otherwise, if you don't mind, one last question: the manufacturer said to use #46 hydraulic oil. The only one that I could find that wasn't in bulk was this Sta-Lube Hydraulic & Jack Oil. The spec sheet ( api.crcindustries.com/auto-services/get-pds/SL2552 ) says it's rated at ISO Viscosity Grade 46 and SAE Grade 20). Do you think there are any issues with that oil?
Again, thanks a million! Sincerely appreciate the help!
Have you ever over heated the unit? I am concerned of constant use?
I have never over heated the unit, but the most I've done at one time is around 35-40 bags. This unit is not a commercial grade unit. It's a big step up from a Food Saver unit though.
@@ItsallabouttheRack how has it been 2 years out? When you say not commercial unit do you mean it’s not even close to the level of a vacmaster 215? Which what I cross shopping but this seems to good to be true. It’s either 450 or $1300 here in Canada. Best review I’ve seen so far of the vevor
Do you know of a place where you can order spare parts for this unit?
No, I don't not know at this time.... Sorry
how's the performance of the machine after a few years of use?
It's been good. I will have a follow up video coming soon, showing a newer machine and changing out the heat strip.
Any idea where to find vacuum pump oil in stores? What type/weight did you use?
I would have to believe that you could find it at an auto parts store. I think the weight is standard for vacuum machines, so any one specified for vacuum would work. I actually sell vacuum pump oil as I work for an HVAC wholesale company,so I guess I'm lucky. I know you can also find it on Amazon.
Harbor Freight
@@scottlowran1404 They’ve got everything over at the hazard fraught lol
Hi there
what kind of oil do I have to take?
It takes vacuum pump oil. I know they sell it on Amazon. Vacuum pump oil is vacuum pump oil, no need for anything special.
Hi, can this unit vacuum seal liquid? For eg: Soup?
Yes it can because it vacuums the chamber and not the bag. What makes the seal on a bag or a jar is the introduction of atmospheric pressure... Well besides the unit having a heat bar to seal the end of the bag of course. It's not the highest unit inside so the jar can't be that tall. I have done cream type soups that worked fine.
@@ItsallabouttheRack Thank You!
Is it big enough to do a whole chicken?
I would think it would be fine for a while fryer type of chicken as long as you have a bag big enough.
Hi!, Do you know how I can find the sealing belt replacement part? I've tried to contact the seller, even the company, and nothing.
No, sorry. I would look on Ebay and contact as many sellers as possible to expand the search. Good luck! Obviously what you get for a budget unit like this... Lack of customer service 🤨

What's the cost of machine does it pack powered
I haven't kept track of the pricing after my purchase. I did buy mine on Ebay, there are a handful of sellers, I would start with that.
Hey Ted, hows that gimbal working for ya?
😂 Haha 😂 yep, like most electronics they have their moments!
Uh ohh!
So I have the same exact unit and every single time it tries to seal it pops fuses and this the other day I tried to put another fuse in their same exact size the fuse did not pop and the actual heat strip bar caught on fire very unsafe unit
When was the last time you replaced the actual heat strip and the covering for it? They give you extra, I changed mine when the strip was looking to worse for wear. The heat strip is just thin metal and will wear out.
@@ItsallabouttheRack I put a new heat strip in it and it did the same thing
The wiring may have been compromised to a point that its been degraded and due to this the Amp drawn goes up and the fuse pops. Either take it to a repair shop or buy new. Have to say though, this has been for me a very good bang for my buck.
@@ItsallabouttheRack intill your house catches fire
@@shannoncreel4466 not sure what you mean by intill? If you mean until? Then I'm not sure what you're doing by operating a unit like this unattended in the first place. Secondly there are more fires caused by ppl leaving there cell phone cords plugged in than operating a unit such as this. You've already voiced your disgust on this unit, allow this sleeping dog to lie.
Will it seal mylar bags?
I believe it will because it has a heat sealer bar to seal your package. I have not tried, having said that so don't buy solely based on my limited experience.
Mine broke after 100 uses . Transformer went out no parts available . Its now a boat anchor.
Sorry to hear that. It's just a transformer, get one from the many electronic suppliers online.

Can you stand mason jars up to seal them? If so, what is the max height inside the chamber?
I have not tried any type of jar in it. It's kinda hard to measure that inside height, so you know the measurements of the jar and I can see if it may fit?
Normal mason jars with lids are 7 inches tall with a 3 inch x 3 inch base.
After doing some searching and then calling another mfg, they do NOT recommend putting Mason jars in them. I found a mfg called Fisher that has a vacuum plate for Mason hats but it's VERY pricey!
How much this unit weighs
Sorry, but I'm not really sure. I can say it's not something you want to lug around from spot to spot. My guess is somewhere around 50ish pounds
Please where to get those bags ?
I found my thru a local supplier but you can look on ebay or Amazon. Look for a 3 mil bag that is a good thickness for most anything you'll seal. My go to bag size is a 8" x 12" but you can obviously get smaller or larger to maybe up to 14" that will still fit without cramming the bag in.
webstaurantstore.com
Can you fit a whole chicken in there?
Sorry, just saw this question from you. YT doesn't always alert me when ppl ask questions. Yes you could, your limitation will be your bsg size.
Your dimensions are incorrect. You didn't include the full height of the lid (dome). Looks like 11", not 9-1/2".
Are any made in America?
None that I'm aware of in this price range. If you search and are looking for larger industrial unit there may be some, but I have never searched myself.
Hello. I am trying to find the proper oil.
Can you give the brand you used?
Thanks.
Lucky for me I used a brand that I can get thru work. I know if you look on Amazon for vacuum pump oil you will find plenty. Vacuum oil is vacuum oil, no need to fall for the "premium" trap
if you want the best compressor oil get Amsoil it will even make your machine quieter .
@@crankycrow7371 Thank you.
So when you say it's gana suck. Is that meant to be a pun? Is it an actual warning that the video will be bad? Are you saying it because that pump is gana suck?
It was a play on words.. Meaning the unit will suck or "vacuum". Hope you liked the video regardless of what was said at the beginning! 😉
@@ItsallabouttheRack Well I watched enough times to say it sucks.
try mash potatos :P
long term review needed: all Chinese stuff lasts a few days
Food saver is a ripoff. U can get the same perforated bags from china for about 5cents each.
Food Saver brand...? Yes, I would agree with that. Even if you can buy the "cheap" bags, which I did get some and some were fine and some no so much. The benefits to a machine of this type is that it is a chamber vac which gives you the benefit of doing liquids like soups or marinades.
Thank you for a very informative and honest presentation. I appreciate all the details you take time to explain. I also like all the knowledgeable people who have contributed their expertise on the topic of pumps, electricity, oils, etc... You really help one to make a well informed decision so there should be fewer surprises or disappointments once you get the product. I really like your Chanel.
Ugh why does no one post reducing the time. Why would I want to do it slower and longer. What happens if I put vacuum setting on 1 or 2 seconds .... time is money here . Helloooo
I get what you're saying but there's actually science behind pulling a vacuum. The more you go below atmospheric pressure and into the micron range the better the bag seals and the tighter the bag will be around your product and the less freezer burn you will experience. Putting that aside the time is money theory you speak of does not pertain to me sealing average things that I'm putting in my freezer, not really sure I care about time, but I do care about it lasting a long enough time in my freezer.
I've found that you can loosely vacuum solid objects in as little as five seconds.
Large cuts of meat take thirty seconds.
With the same machine, I do most items set at 20sec. Vacuum, 1.5sec.Seal, 4sec. Cool down.
Fresh bread and rolls, chips, etc. Pickling, infusions, etc.
