Good job you’re not lying about there not being videos out there for these models I was looking because my fan speed will only blow on high so I wanted to Learn about the system before I dove in thank you
If you want to diagnose the blower motor with a multimeter just set it to ohms and check resistance across the two terminals. If you get OL it’s definitely bad. A high resistance will also indicate a bad blower. The closer to 0 the resistance is, the better.
Just had my fuse board replaced and a week later I think my blower is going out. Gonna check my wiring again and hopefully it’s my motor. It’s too hot in Texas to no AC. Mine is a 2017 3500 Dually but I imagine pretty close to the same. Great video.
Gooood tip!!! I just banged on my resistor to see if it would start if it was dirty. Like magic it fired up while banging on it. Time to clean it and make it work long term.
Omg this is the type of stuff i love! Informative and simple! I'm currently having issues with my 2010 1500 sport blowing little air even if i have it cranked up! I will look into this first thing tomorrow morning thanks!👍👍👍👍
1st off thank you very much for this awesome video. What I’m experiencing is that every time I start my car the ac would start making noise and simultaneously switch back and forth from heat to cool air, after a minute or so it would either get stuck at cool air or hot air, would that be the resistor or the motor going out? Any help would be greatly appreciated
Great video! So the resistor and the fan blower was good?!? The only thing was the fuse box. Where is that located? Sorry not to tech savvy. How much did you ended up spending?
I've had the blower motor and resistor replaced. It only seems to work in early morning or late evenings. It cuts on and off like it has a bad connection or something.
Good video, figured I should post this here for anyone with a 2016 Ecodiesel that can't find the resistor. It's not there anymore. Blower assembly is still the same though.
Hey mike, Mike Garcia (anniston AL) my ac only works on the first few low speed selections on the dial soon as I turn to high speed it cuts off. I’ve replaced the motor brand new, resistor brand new, and now I just replaced the control dial and it still doesn’t work on high? Any suggestions man?
So i you did was replaced the motor? My ac just took a shit rn. The compressor seens to be working and the suction and discharge lines get hold and cold so im thinking its the blower. No air comes out at all. Im in corpus as well lmao
Replaced motor, worked for another couple months, went out again. Replaced blower , resistor, and the actual AC switch itself. Ended up taking it to Lithia, its what's called a TIPM. Google it, very common issues with these trucks
I'm kinda having that problem. I've heard it's the recirculation flap gets stuck on rams. And it's suppose to be up behind there. I'm about to dive into mine and see. I'm thinking his didn't blow at all.
@@williamn8573 I’m going to take it off; check the contacts first, see if that’s the issue; and if it needs replacing I’ll simply replace it. From all the videos I’ve watched, I have to agree; it’s likely the resistor causing the failure of the 2nd fan speed setting.
I know its been a while since you posted this video but did your AC speed selection was messed up? Mine takes a while to work when I start my truck my ac works only on the slowest speed no matter the position of the dial but after 5 or 10 minutes then starts working fine like it should could this problem be the resistor?
Clearjab When I would first turn it on, it would take a while. You could feel it blowing very low, cool air. After about 1 minute it would start blowing hard. Then it started taking longer and longer, eventually stopped altogether.
ok thanks then this might be my problem, mine will start at the lowest speed no matter the dial position and after 5 minutes it will work like normal in every speed between this and the AC actuators going bad on a regular basis and the broken exhaust manifold bolts its quite anoying how this truck seems to hurt of just about everything thanks again for your reply
Dirty Mike & The Boys omg mine will blow really slow and sometimes outta nowhere it'll blow hard but then go back to blowing slow. Is this the reason ??
I got 1 for u 06 ram intermitted blower motor issue for year changed motor and resistor fixed for month know with key on all wire on resistor and both blower motor wires are all ground when checking key off no power 1 wire ground in resistor wire it has the tipm fuse box under hood weird ignition switch took apart nothing burnt everything looked good for heck of it bought new ing switch hard to turn still no go
04 dodge ram 5.9 diesel mine works fine when I start and as I drive for an hour the fan sounds like it's on full but minimal air flow comes out any suggestions
Hmm. Is the air coming from anywhere else? Like when it starts barely blowing through the vents, is air blowing hard throw your defrost, or floor board?
Normally a bad resistor will not let that motor turn on..I'm thinking blower, but those years you got are real bad about cracking the ceramic on the resistors, so it wouldnt be a bad idea either way
I have a 2015 4500 Ram and my blower shuts off randomly and then starts again at random. Already had the blower replaced and the resistor and the problem continues. The shop wants to replace the TIPM which is rather expensive. To be it seems like a loose or bad connection somewhere. Anybody had this issue?
Mine was in the same place as in the video, it's right under the glove box. You have to remove a soft trim cover held in by a few push pins. My issue was fixed when I got the TIPM replaced. I had replaced the blower and resistor with no luck, but the TIPM did the trick, its expensive
Dang, I have the 2015 EcoDiesel. I didn't think that would make a deference, but perhaps it does. My under dash looks entirely different. How much did the TIPM replacement cost?
KevinKruuz, I think it was around 500 bucks. I don't remember exactly, i know it was cheaper than the NOX sensor which I had to replace at the same time. That sensor was a little over 600. Mine is a diesel too, I don't think it would be classified as a ecodiesel though
Dean Ward mine doing the same. It would make a weird noise like if there was a short sparking noise. Blows hard then gradually to faint air. Now just doesn't blow.

fixed my blower, thank you for the video... incredibly helpful

I see you had $4,607.04 in the bank let a brotha borrow $20
giggle
Excellent video sir!!! This was a huge help. Could not really find much online like you said for the 4th gen. Thanks for posting.
Gooood tip!!! I just banged on my resistor to see if it would start if it was dirty. Like magic it fired up while banging on it. Time to clean it and make it work long term.

Would be my bet
Drywall Experts - was that it? Mines blowing cold just not blowing well.
Sounds like your resistor block is going out
Great video saw Dallas Cowboys floor mats and a Cowboys cap. I have the same mats in my truck.
Well did you put power and ground to the old moter first to see if it was bad.
Good video!!! I have the same problem just now and now I know how to fixed, thanks
Awesome video thank you. It's very helpful.

Thank you sooooo much!!! Fixed mine too!!!
Great video! So the resistor and the fan blower was good?!? The only thing was the fuse box. Where is that located? Sorry not to tech savvy. How much did you ended up spending?
Yessir, technically called the TIPM , driver side under hood , by battery. Actually under the fuse box. Dealer only, non serviceable part.
Dodge wanted 1700, wasnt covered by warranty, had it bypassed for 700
So what to check when I replaced the blower switch and still do not have 2nd speed. all other work fine.?
Marc Ciolino did you ever fix this issue.
My #2 speed does not work now and my fan makes a humming noise
I've had the blower motor and resistor replaced. It only seems to work in early morning or late evenings. It cuts on and off like it has a bad connection or something.
I have a buddy with that same issue, ever figure it out?
Same issue I'm having. Sits in the hot sun, no heat or air. Works every morning tho when cool. Anyone know?
Very well and so helpful video. Thanks a lot
Thanks man, that helped out a lot.
Good video, figured I should post this here for anyone with a 2016 Ecodiesel that can't find the resistor. It's not there anymore. Blower assembly is still the same though.
Tyler Deck Good info!
Great video!!!!
I hear that exhaust manifold leaking lol.. better get those bolts replaced.
Wait a minute Mike, so what was the issue??? Was the blower motor ultimately the culprit???
Great vid, thanx
Great video I have the same problem with my 2012 🐏 thanks

Hey buddy, was ur ac not working or was it blowing out of the defrost only and this fixed it to where it blows from the main vents
I'm kinda having that problem. I've heard it's the recirculation flap gets stuck on rams. And it's suppose to be up behind there. I'm about to dive into mine and see. I'm thinking his didn't blow at all.
That makes sense - I heard my blend door try to open and close multiple times then it finally gave out. Taking it to shop on Monday
My only issue is that my fan won’t work on the 2nd speed only; the 1st setting, 3rd, and full fan speed all work fine. Any suggestions?
C Jones, did you happen to get it figured out?
@@williamn8573 No; I haven't really dove into it. Do you know the issue? Fuse? etc? what could it be?

Dirty Mike & The Boys omg mine will blow really slow and sometimes outta nowhere it'll blow hard but then go back to blowing slow. Is this the reason ??
I guess I'm confused. Did you say the resistor wasn't bad or the fan motor wasn't bad?
They actually were both good, ended up being a fuse box issue (TIPM)
and said it was good
Did you have any burnt electrical smells
No sir
Where did you get that book about the fuse box ? I had the same problem
Owners manual
Thank you 🙏

Man I would still think something went wrong with the TIPM. Idk much about them, but I had alot of issue root caused by that bastaed TIPm
Thanks man!
Can I borrow some money

Resiters are on the blowers them self.
I love how you put your atm recept out in the open so we can see how broke you are
Thanks bro
was that a 4season replacement part?
Nicholas Dominguez Yes it was
did this fix work or did it start acting up again?
Johnny Cowart It has never been blowing harder !
before it went out would it blow soft then you kill it, get back in turn it back on 10 minutes later and blows harder. thats what mine is doing.
Dean Ward mine doing the same. It would make a weird noise like if there was a short sparking noise. Blows hard then gradually to faint air. Now just doesn't blow.
Aldo Acevedo
did you ever figure out what went out on yours.
Dean Ward it was the blower motor. Replaced it works like a champ now.
