Obviously, Dave Mustaine is a huge talent, but he's too fucked up and incoherent to really make the quality portfolio that Metallica produced. In my opinion, that's why they surpassed Megadeth so greatly.
Megadeth are better in terms of musicianship. But Metallica kind of have their own sound and they do "sound" better tone wise. Metallica are cooler I would say , but not better if that makes sense.
