I am a new sub only about a week, im just getting back into Magic (commander) for the first time in 10 years and love your videos ive bing watched a TON of them. thank you for producing this awesome channel
I'm surprised you didn't look into using this card for Commander, I have had some twisted thoughts ever since I seen it. Advisor Rats was a strange twist on the Relentless Rats deck having you put in Conspiracy and Arcane Adaption to turn all rats into advisors and all advisors into rats. Have the Mind Drinker as your commander if you want to mill them faster or Vela the Night-Clad as commander if you just want to swing out at them. If you're truly cruel and willing to risk it all go Grixis with Marchesa and Mirror March, if this manages to go off it will end things pretty quick. (Don't add mountains to this plan, lands that can tap for any color are better suited or duel lands)
Here is my, more mill, full blue build 4 Dramatic Reversal 4 Mind Sculpt 16 Persistent Petitioners 4 Thought Scour 4 Tome Scour 4 Ponder 4 Preordain 20 Island
Hey Prof I am a subscriber to any new province and agree that his cobtent is a rare gem. His lighting set up needs some help though lol. I am glad you featured him. I know I'm late viewing this but some of us work and stuff!
Honestly that is awesome, very overlooked card. I had no idea about until this video. I feel so rusty in magic and that I wish I was like you in getting those ideas before it is a net thing. I need a STROKE OF GENIUS.......buahahahah!
That's awesome! I also thought about a super low budget Tiny Leaders Commander Deck with Ambassador Laquatus, but your solution for wanting to play Petitioners is much cooler (even if my wallet says "No!"). Thank you very much! XD
I built petitioners in arena. I also went Azorius. I wasn't pauper though I ran Hallowed fountain and glacial fortress. But yeah if I had access to bell ringer and dramatic reversal I would run them over the rally of battle I had to run in MTGA..
Yeah, I want to know if this breaks the next Standard Pauper Arena event, since all the standard common sweepers hit one toughness right now. That's the only reason the rats were not oppressive.
Fun video and very cool to promote another content creator like this. Not a first for the Professor, I know, but still awesome to see and, oops - I just subbed to another channel!
I'm wondering if there are any other Advisor creatures that would be worth running. Depending on the matchup there are Master of Impediments and Aysen Bureaucrats that may help tap down large attackers or fliers, and are still advisors so they can get in on the mill, too. Also, 19 lands is probably too few, but YMMV.
What got me into Pauper was pulling a pack filler card from Amonkhet called “God-Pharaoh’s Faithful.” A 1cmc 0/4 that heals me every time I play any Grixis-colored spell feels good, and she’s Pauper legal!
@Nox Ouphe I’m a complete newb, so it’s power level is really low. It’s Blue-White weenie midrange, heavily focused on Blue/multicolored to get the maximum amount of life gain off of Faithful. I run “Cartouche of Knowledge” and some other generic blue enchantments to buff Faithful as a defender. Gotta be able to block the popular “Delver of Secrets.” A playset of “Court Hussar” does a little bit of everything while “Azorius First-Wing” hits my opponent in the air. “Vapor Snag” and “Plumes Of Peace” remove threats while “Opt” and “Ponder” dig for basic utility cards like the extremely helpful counter-counterspell “Hindering Light.” If you want to upgrade from Pauper to Peasant (which allows a small portion of your deck to be Uncommon instead of just Common), grab “Thunderclap Wyvern.” Buffs everything you have with flying, which can include God-Pharaoh’s Fairhful if you give her the Cartouche. I’m
@Nox Ouphe I encourage you to try her with the other two colors she supports. Just search up all the common Black/White commons or Red/White Commons and go in that direction. God-Pharaoh’s Faithful is Deck brewing on easy mode.
Man, I was so confused for a minute there. I had to check Hydroblast on Gatherer, as the version shown in the video is uncommon! Printed at common in different sets, natch. ;)
I'm very new to magic. Do you have any videos explaining how X works? I have a "empty the pits" (XX,BBB) card that I would like to use for casual play. There's no video that explains it very well. Or if there is, there's people in the comments that say the video is wrong. So I don't know who to believe. 😐
So it actually is 2 dollar for a common? I just thought Card Kingdom had some crazy price when I checked. Would not have expected to be _that_ popular... _paupular?_
@@LinkEX Relentless creatures like this are a lot of fun for many people. I'm sure it'll go down, but they're usually good investments. Printing a cycle of competently designed commons like this would really help to fill out the value in sets.
@@williamsimkulet7832 Good idea having a 'relentless' creature in every set. It allows having a new frequent take on the concept, and as you said fills out the value if it is good for brews or pauper.
How _perfect_ is it that the Petitioners already have P-Alliteration for the Pauper format? It's a little too perfect. Someone at Wizards must know about The Prof's joke!
OK, I might be having a different experience but when I play legacy and I have my petitioner deck in (mtg Arena) I only have persistent petitioners and islands. No other card and I win almost every time. I probably played like 20 games with that deck and I probably only lost maybe twice. Am I just incredibly lucky? In my experience, you really don’t need any other cards than the petitioners.
They don't have a triggered ability (those are written "when/whenever/at"), they have an activated ability (written "cost: effect" - look for the colon). The cost of activating one PP is tapping 4 PPs. Once you tap them to activate one of them you can't tap them to activate another one since they are already tapped. This is just like how you can't tap 4 Islands and then play multiple 4 mana spells at the same time. Hope that helps. :)
Pauper has the same static meta issues as Modern. Only a limited card pool are competitive. On top of this, common cards are usually very vanilla and dull making casual Pauper boring. Finally, most common cards are designed for Limited play in mind, not constructed.
I don't know what others think, but I really don't like petitioners. It's just relentless rats all over again. This deck seems like it will be really popular for a month or two, then die out.
Bringing this card, wotc is just laughing loud at pauper... BTW i'm always petitioning my self for Dual lands to be uncommons. But then back there in seminary school there was a person there who put worth the proposition that you could petition! Till finally someone brillant answered: that you cannot petition...
I'm so happy with how this came out. Thank you so much for asking me to brew with you Prof!
I'm glad you're getting some spotlight. You've always been my favorite pauper streamer. (Even though I only ever lurk.)
Hope this brings you some well deserved subs, been following you for a while and I absolutely love your Pauper content!
Definitely subbing to you now that I know there’s a Pauper focused channel
Welcome to the big leagues kid
Awesome to see how far you are getting bro!
You can tell that the Professor used to be an English lecturer with the amount of alliteration in the video title! Great video Prof! 😁
I love it!
The entire video was alliteration! Well, I'm exaggerating a little, but still...
40 petitioners 20 islands is the real list prof, we all know that
Woosh
58 petitioners and 2 islands
6o pettitioners and 0 lands, high risks high gains.
Bah, nothing like 1 petitioner and 59 mountains

Proper pauper planning prevents poorly placed performance.
Lmao 😂😂😂😂
Nice proff! I loved this video... The best part is the gameplay accomplished with this great decktech
Is Persistent Petitioners Possibly Pauper Playable? Perhaps, it's perfectly plausible.
He still found a way to put the "Many Magic: The Gathering players ask the question..." line in there too. Good job.
This guy deserves a lot of love for helping keep pauper fresh and evolving.
Here is my, more mill, full blue build
4 Dramatic Reversal
4 Mind Sculpt
16 Persistent Petitioners
4 Thought Scour
4 Tome Scour
4 Ponder
4 Preordain

As soon as I saw persistent petitioners , mill deck flashed in my mind.
Really loved the “when many players ask” line in this video
Awesome alliteration aligns at all! Proficient petitioner produce professor!
Yay! Pauper decktechs! Thanks prof and friends!
"Grant me justice against my adversary."
I like to imagine the Petitioners are all just going "Hey! Hey!" like the dogs from The Far Side.
Thanks for bring anp on, love his content
So if this becomes a deck it's gotta be called Paupersistent Petitioners, right?
Persistent Pauptitioners?
XD it was really hype when u said his catchphrase

Yeah that was my question. I was using rare sweepers that didn't hit my 3 toughness dudes but obviously your point about standard pauper is proper
You should also play Rallying roar then. Untaps all for one less mana.

Awesome alliteration
I remember my English professor telling me to always avoid alliteration (ironic).
You should replace three petitioners with mothdust changelings so that you can chump block the occasional flier.
Could you tell me what's the music that start at 04:20 Prof?
Nice video i love pauper
Can we cool it with the alliteration? Looking at you randy
lol prof using all of the KSP background music
Music from Kerbal Space Program?
I may have to get into pauper now.
I think the third of his clips at the end was muted when you embedded it - there's an awkward pause after "custodi squire"

Alliteration!!!
Sadly no place around me wants to run Pauper.
So I don't know if I'll ever be able to play with other people.

If you tap four petitioners doesn’t it trigger each of those petitioners abilities milling the opponent for 4* 12
