I actually got a little teary eyed remembering Marc Antony and that kitten. You're right; I'm one of those people who can't help but cry when I watch that one. I just find it SO sad when he puts the cookie on his back, thinking that's all he has left of his friend. 😢
Fun fact: Marvin the Martian didn't have an official name back in the early Looney Tunes shorts. His given name from Chuck Jones (Antwerp) was never used in any cartoon. It wasn't until the big marketing boom of the 'Tunes in the 70s and 80s where WB gave him the name Marvin when putting him on merchandise.
If I remember correctly one marketing name that was weird for the Looney tunes was for Michigan J Frog (the singing frog) were they tried to call him Rico I don't know if it's out there anymore I mean it's the internet it's gotta be their somewhere but who thought a singing frog should be called Rico
Now that explains why I never actually learned about his name from the cartoon until I read a KFC kids magazine in the 90's where I first saw his name.
That's because they were. Original Looney Toons were aired before films in the theater. They were little comedies before the main event, before they just started airing trailers for other movies.
Nobody mentioned Foghorn Leghorn? Okay, I'll shut up. I'm not one that has to keep talkin'. Some fellas just have to keep their mouths flappin', but not me! I was brought up right, my pa used to tell me "shut up" and I'd shut up! I wouldn't say nothin'! One time, darn-near starved to death
My favorite Looney tunes gag is just Daffy Duck himself. I always thought he had the best lines and expressions. Especially the older stuff where he's held up as being insane.
I do believe you're right. But the background was back in the day all these companies in real life were in a rush to be the first in the phone book so you'd get like ACME Pawn, ACME Truck and Tool, or ACME Toiletries. ACME turned out an eye catching yet generic name perfect for Looney Tunes.
@@michaelkaminski84 so the achronym is apparently a misconception. I don't know where I heard it though. I believe while it's not the originally intended meaning it could still be a valid one. I also think it was written A.C.M.E. in some cases, unless I'm mistaking.
The Dover Boys Of Pimento University is my all-time favorite Looney Tunes cartoon, the animation is perfect, the comedy is perfect, the voice work is spot on, Dan Backslide is one of the funniest villains ever. "A runabout? I'll STEAL IT!!! NO ONE WILL EVER KNOW!!!!!"
Just hearing them talk about Looney Tunes is mesmerizing, but I really would like to see them dive into the lesser directors' works, with some of them being more incredible than they are given the credit for. Bob McKimson had the roaring Foghorn Leghorn, some really compassionate takes on Hollywood and TV at the time, Bugs Bunny taking on the ENTIRE USA, really unapologetically wild stuff; Art Davis gave some pretty cool one-off cartoons, really zany yet on-model character animations, some unusual settings and really witty writings!
Bob Clampett is probably the wildest of the directors. His trademarks are extremely exaggerated motions and highly surreal plots/settings. Some of his highlights are Draftee Daffy (the little man from the draft board), The Great Piggy Bank Robbery ("Duck Twacy"), and Porky In Wackyland, a black-and-white cartoon that is straight-up Dali imagery.
Pixar paid their respects to Looney Toons in Monsters Inc. The scene when Sully thinks Boo dies in the trash compactor. It is very similar to the scene with the Dog and Kitten.
Hanna-Barbera did, too, in CARRY ON, NURSE FRED, an early Pebbles, in the scene where she is wadering inot a laundry mat..the entire story of the Looney Tune, actually Merrie Melodie, based on MGM's "CHIPS OFF THE OLD BLOCK, which had a Donald like cat protecting kittens... but the next few with the dog and kitten showed h0we versatile the brief pet series could be, with a more impatient, sarcastic mastrr (Mel Blanc in the first and Bob C.Bruce in the second, respectively KISS ME KAT and FELINE FRAME UP) as a secondary character (Bruce narrated a lot of the studio's 40s and 50s shorts)
I remember when Foghorn Leghorn accidentally blew up the dog's house in "The Foghorn Leghorn and the Henery Hawk." Looney Tunes was perfect. *WHY YOU! TAKE THAT! AND THAT! AND THAT! YOU GOOD FOR NOTHING CHICKEN!!!!*
I love the one where Daffy gambles away all of his and Porky's hotel room money and try to sneak out without paying despite being stalked by the savvy and intimidating manager. Then they get sent to jail and Daffy has the idea to call Bugs to get them out and it turns out Bugs is in the cell next to them!
I could listen to these four talking Looney Tunes all damn day! They’re clearly having such a great time together. Nothing like true fans getting super into conversing about one of their favorite subjects. So much fun!🖤
This is what made me appreciate how good cartoons can be as a kid. I love the original Looney Tunes shorts with Bugs Bunny being my favorite of them. One of my favorite cartoons of all time still as well.
Thanks guys! This was such a hysterical video! Btw that shot with Marvin turning around with intense hatred towards K9 the dog is a meme in the making...ROFL!
I remember my dad laughing his ass off at the one where Bugs is the Easter bunny. There's this maniac little kid (who is sucking a pistol as a pacifier when Bugs enters) that keeps beating on him throughout the episode shouting, "I wanna Easter egg I wanna Easter egg!!!" Eventually Bugs paints Elmer's head like an Easter egg and whistles for the kid, and he starts beating the shit out of Elmer's head with a hammer. Lol. RIP Dad. That was your fave.
My favorite Looney Tunes cartoon is the one where Yosemite Sam goes to hell and the Devil tells him he needs to get Bugs Bunny down there if he wants to be freed.
I can't believe how much I enjoyed listening to you guys talk about an old cartoon. I watched it all the time when i was little too! Yeah! please do more videos together!
I love the looney tunes episodes where daffy paints moutashes and porky is a copy, they chase on the roof and porky almost falls off. Daffy saves him and says 'very sporting of the little black duck'
This video was a lot of fun to watch. My dad loves classical music very much, but I also listened to a lot of it in cartoons growing up, and especially watching Looney Tunes. I love a lot of types of music, but I really do love classical music very much. As I get older, I learn to appreciated it even more. Anyways, ... Great Video mah brothaz!

There's an episode where WILE E. COYOTE lights up a bomb. The moment the match touches the fuse, the bomb explodes. It's not just funny; it's smart because it subverts our expectations. Actually, subversion is usually done when something has been used for a long time. This episode is from the 40s, where bombs hadn't been used for that long in cartoons. The best part of that joke is the build up. We see this long, twisty track the coyote built and he has the bomb at the top. You think it's gonna roll down the track, fly back, land on him and explode, but nope. It just explodes immediately. It kills me every time.
Just a couple of clips and descriptions, that still made me laugh really loud. I've gotta check out as much as I can from Looney Tunes as soon as possible.
Maybe they all came over to do a crossover for AVGN, then James was like, hey guys, check out my video store set, then Doug was like, lets shoot something right now! We all like Looney tunes, we can talk about it. James probably said; sure, but your editing and uploading it. :P
ACME basically stands for: "A Company that Manufactures Everything" And i bet that ACME as a company in the roadrunner and coyote shorts was used with that acronym in mind. I think it's funny.
so many great Looney Tunes memories. In Canada in the 80s and 90s every Saturday afternoon at 5pm, Global TV always showed The Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show. often I'd be eating dinner alongside watching it, and it never mattered how many times I'd seen these episodes I always watched them. Daffy is the best Looney Tune. He can play a hero, a villain, a star or a sidekick. Looney Tunes had a great shelf life.
Yeah, him and Sylvester are the most versatile ones
Has *
Funniest part of that "draft board" short, Daffy would have been rejected. He's flat-footed
Cartoon Network claims that Sylvester is the most versatile. I say Daffy was more versatile than Sylvester ever was!
Him and Bugs were the main looney tunes
I hope we get more of this. These 4 are great together.
Thank you for the ♥️! All 4 of you are great.
Wait isnt Doug like a terrible human beeing?
Wazo Oza No, that was almost everyone else.
I agree. More of these! Just shooting the shit about whatever. Get Rob in there too Damnit lol
I think these four guys are very good together as well Bryce Mckenzie
Doug’s recollection of all these Loony Toon episodes is literally a super power
Very true-Doug has a vivid and descriptive memory.
I love that episode when there is an illustrator fucking with Daffy and at the end you find out its Bugs
Duck Amuck, Good times ^^
I think there’s another one that Bugs is the one who getting tortured and Daffy is the one who done it (revenge)
@@wokenlunatic2849 it's Elmer Fudd who is the animator in Bugs' episode. I believe it's called Rabbit Rampage.

My girlfriend doesn’t understand why I find a video about 4 adults talking about looney tunes so freaking appealing.
You mean your ex-girlfriend? 😂
You showed it to your girlfriend already?
At least you have one
It's the reverse for me, my boyfriend doesn't understand why I just watched these videos and smile 😁😁😁 he thinks I'm weird lol
I don't understand why I enjoy listening to people talk about media instead of just watching the media in question.
I actually got a little teary eyed remembering Marc Antony and that kitten. You're right; I'm one of those people who can't help but cry when I watch that one. I just find it SO sad when he puts the cookie on his back, thinking that's all he has left of his friend. 😢
Please, more of this. You’re just barely scratching the surface of what made Looney Tunes great.

The first time he was given a name (on The Bugs Bunny Show) he was called Enrico. One of the DVD bonus features has that clip.
Now that explains why I never actually learned about his name from the cartoon until I read a KFC kids magazine in the 90's where I first saw his name.
Marvin was originally named Commander Flying Saucer X-2.

It's universal
Same Thing with Modern Cartoon (like Regular Show 🐦 🦝, The Adventure Time 🗡️ 🐶, The Amazing World of Gumball 🐱 🐟 etc etc)
I love the sheep dog ones. The way they just stop mid way through a slap stick bit to clock out is hilarious.

Nah. It's a transliteration of the Greek word for 'best', and it was often chosen because it would put those companies earlier in the phone book.
My God, I think he's got it
Acme was also apparently “a coyote made everything” which is why the traps always failed

Chuck Jones always had the best shorts. The Hunting Trilogy, Zoom & Bored, Duck Amuck, What's Opera Doc, Duck Dodgers, etc.
Judging by how thoroughly enthusiastic Doug seems in this vid I bet he's the one brought up the subject lol
Thank you for this
I am surprised with how good this collaboration is. This is heaven
I love these it's them just shooting the shit talking about Looney Tunes being awesome
As an adult, the cartoon with Bugs Bunny and Pete Puma made me laugh so hard that tears poured down my face.
Great to see another collab with Doug and James.
Definitely. Wouldn't mind seeing another of Doug playing a crappy game while James does a bad movie trade off.
Makes me wonder if they're both gonna do crossovers for their shows considering they usually meet up for those reasons.
Best looney tunes quote;
"Consequences schmonsequences, as long as I'm rich." - Daffy
"Hello. My name is Wile E. Coyote, Super Genius. I'm bigger, stronger, and faster than you are. Plus, I'm a genius! I'll give you 2 minutes to say your prayers."
That line right there, ruined Wile’s chances of being an identical character to Tom cat.
Would definitely like more talks like this great vid!
