You was and IS my IT father - I cannot explain it better. You took from zero level where I had no idea about ANYTHING and could not grasp it enough from books, you just raised me from that level somewhere where now I do understand the books, the other sources, etc. Thank you! You are truly amazing and what you do is the kindest and best thing in the world.
Eli is the best tutor on internet. Not even paid tutorials explain things as Eli does... Thank You, Thank You THANK YOU THANK YOU Eli, you are the best
You are a big inspiration to youth in my country. I work a territory manager for cisco and I train all my team members through your video tutorials. You are the best man. Would love to meet you one day in person. For me that would be like taking a picture with Barack Obama..
I enjoyed learning from you, Eli. You were hilarious when you mentioned " DON'T DON'T DON'T DON'T touch any key when it reboots" LMAO !!! I've been in this profession for a real long time and I'm just recertifying myself after 14 years. Your method is so basic and simple that it's impossible not to understand you. You ARE TOO GOOD. Keep it up and god speed. Thank you so much for spending your wife's time with us :D
Attention!! I went through many hours furiously trying to figure out why I couldn't get my server connected to my "lab" router. It turned out I had to set the network adapter in Virtualbox to *"bridged"* and *not NAT* (which is the default setting). Just thought someone else was struggling with the same issue. ;)
my computer guy, the explanation was very easy to understand. i just got lost on which video to see first and which is next o next. but overall im using your video as my guide. thank you very much
Thanks alot for this tut dude. Especially for this part 15:29 secs. where you made it clear not to press any key, during the reboot process, when the "if you want to boot off cd," text comes up.
I had my first class of windows server today and just saw your video and subscribed to it..i like the way you teach, fun to watch ...i will go to your next video installing AD DS.............thx
Looking forward to following this series and I think I badly need it as I'm pretty clueless about MS servers. Currently I run all my services (mail, web, sql, plex, shares, ftp etc) off one Win 10 machine but now I'm planning on setting up a ESXi system with separate servers for different tasks, maybe use vlans where appropriate and some proper managing of it all. I have absolutely no clue what I will need, how to go about it all etc though so I will learn as I go. First step I think is getting the center of the hub going in the form of a Windows server (Maybe I should go 2016 instead?)
Hey Eli, love all of your videos. Would really like to know what books you have in your library. Mainly the ones the show up behind you during your videos. Would like to read and gain as much knowledge as possible.
Eli, Best Practice when installing a server and the installation has completed kick the CD so you don't have to wait for the Boot to CD... For you new guys I mean hit the eject the CD so the machine wont boot to it but keep the CD handy.
Eli you mentioned that Server 2012 only needs 512 megs of ram, and can run on a 1.4 64 bit processor. This you did not mention is if the installer is going to install using server core. Server Giu requires more ram and bigger processor if the installer is going to deploy server 2012 in an environment with a lot of traffic push and pull from the end user work stations. The minimum reqs are for a stand alone build with NO push pull traffic to the server.
I'm curious as to why you used the Oracle Virtual Box in lieu of Hyper-V to install Windows Server 2012 into. I was planning on using Hyper-V myself, now I'm wondering if I should use the Oracle Virtual Box. Also, do you plan on doing any classes for Hyper-V and Client Hyper-V. How about more on creating virtual networks? It might be art, however technique is all about experience - and it's obvious you do have that! (I've watched about a dozen of your videos this weekend - great info, thx~)
Eli, for as many times as you say you don't get paid anything for advertising that book, you sure do make an effort to plug it 3+ times a video. Oh well, obviously I'm still here because these kick ass.
great vid. what would be the best os for a small office environment...needs are simple: 10 - 12 workstation peer-peer network. most workstations still run either windows xp or vista and run their own prgms with the exception of a proprietary program that must run centrally. our current server is running NT4 which i like for its ease of use, but it's time to move into the current century...sad but true. thx!
Found your video helpful. What steps would you need to do to install it right to a new pc? What trialware would you need to download this? Don't want to set up Virtual machine when I have 2 extra pc's sitting here.
Eli,.my real question is the only thing you are not showing, what option did you choose for Network Card? I have been creating home networks with the NatNetwork option but later (I'm already a couple of videos ahead) after I setup the DHCP and DNS Servers they are just not working properly, even if I remove the checkbox from DHCP Supply, it seems that VBox still manages the router and the Win2012 Server can't connect to the virtual network at all after serting up the static IP address. So the clients get connection from the VBox Router and the Server gets no connection. I hope you are still around because these videos are far from obsolete, even if now is 2020. Thanks
hi brother eli!! Hw are u ? I liked ur teaching technique! Thnku fr that 1st of all! As u have mentioned that Windows server 2012 Unleashed is a must read book to follow it! Is it possible to get the pdf of that book! Bcz i m financially very weak, Can u pls provide me the link? and 1 more doubt! will the 180days trial edition gives full power to users? or is there any part in 2012 server which is hidden by MS for trial users and hidden facilieties can only be shown when they are licensed?
Eli ,, Really Its perfect ,, However I need small thing it will help us If you can create for us a work flow for installing the server start from inserting the CD until Activating the first user in domain control ( step by step ) like check list , because many time I installed the server then I re-install it again for missing step or miss-configuration ,, Great job Eli and thank you so much :-)
What CD are you booting from? Did you download Server 2012 to a CD? Did you burn the ISO to CD? Seems like you skipped some steps. You show the Server 2012 download page and the next thing you're booting from a CD. I just don't know where the boot CD came from.
sir i have one pc. i installed windows 7.now i learn mcse course.i practice lab in my home.but i have 32bit operating system what i do sir.my requirement is 1gb ram core to dual processor hdd 320gb tell me simple suggestion.your video is super.
Eli,if i do this with Virtual machine VM Ware Workstation so what values i need for Virtual Network Editor NAT values for Subnet IP and Subnet mask and for DHCP is it ON or Off ? Install VmWare tools is okay put on ? Im using Windows Server 2016
Two thinks. Since this version of server 2012 is evaluation version there is no sense to install Standard version, but not the Datacenter version. (You will be able to install more VMs on the Server). Also I think that is important to warn that processor suppose to be a dual-core. Not all old machines has a dual-core processor. But thank you!!!
Hi Mr.Eli I watched your video about installing AD, DHCP and DNS servers and i want to do that byself as a workstation so what is better to use , VMware or Virtual Box ?

Hello, thanks for the video, you sound very helpful! the thing is I have an external hard drive and I was wondering if I went through the installation proces and at 13:31 click that external drive, does that leave my computer with windows 7 alone?
I understand what a server is, however, what is the purpose of installing a server onto your hard disk, when if your hard disk goes bad, the server is useless. Why not go with a server thats off and away from your hard disk and on the internet?
Eli, is there anyway to test WS 2012 version of Hyper-V without installing it to a physical machine?? Can I muck around with that server role in VirtualBox (or any other virtualization software)??

Hello I been i. The IT side of Technology for 14yrs. To make a long story store, I’m running Server 2012 on my network. So here is my problem... I have to you Spectrum cable and it’s been a nightmare for months... the ISP gave me a block of 5 public static 50. 50.1.xxx and I have the gateway , submask, DNS 1-2... now here is the crazy part. Anythime I load a static on a server the system works for for 2-3 days than my network slows down to almost killing the entire speed... No I tried this on 3 other servers and same thing happens... So I take that IP off line that my speed comes back to normal. The ISP will come out and they can’t find anything wrong at all... they did a test with the static’s and they claim they are not blacklisted... so day laters I try again and the speeds drop off again to almost stopped... When I had Comcast or setting people up I never had any issues, Spectrum makes me feel like I’ve never done this before... So I really need some help with this... I think a gave you the entire list of stuff what’s going on... I would really appreciate help with this Thank you Charlie.
I am trying to install windows Server 2012 in IBM Lenovo X3100 Server. I configured it as RAID 1 to work as mirror disk. But when I am trying to install Server 2012 by DVD, its not detecting the HDD. if I change it to AHCI mode it works. Kindly advise what to do in this case?

we should start measuring how detailed a book is like that.
"How detailed is the book?" "Oh, ya know. It's probably around a-foot-o-book"
virtualization within virtualization...? I can't say it won't work, but I also think it's adding complexity that is sure to cause problems...
Great Video Eli! Thank you
perfect. thanx a lot from Kazakhstan.

Hi Mr.Eli
I watched your video about installing AD, DHCP and DNS servers and i want to do that byself as a workstation so what is better to use , VMware or Virtual Box ?
use Ctrl + Alt + End for a remote machine. Works perfect on Hyper V and Windows Remote Desktop Connection
If your hardware supports 64bit you should be able to install it, however take a look at the minimum requirements
Thank you, Eli! But do I have to delete other partitions? I need to create a new partition, can I do that? Is it sure?
I am a student and use Microsoft's DreamSpark. I can download, use and play with a fully functional NOS without a 180 day trial period.
Great video !
Why your not making new videos for... server 2016 or 2019.?... cant wait to your latest videos for.. 2016 or 2019..

Yes, other hyper visors like VMplayer, VirtualBox, and Hyper-V should work just fine.
Very interesting. be blessed
hi there,
i was tried to to used HPC 2008 r2 in server 2012,
why i can't choice "create a new HPc cluster by creating a head node" option?

Hi,
Thanks for the demo.
Could you share how to upgrade a Windows 2003 file server to Windows 2012.
Your help is appreciated.
If I learn MS Server 2012, will that also translate over to Small Business server 2011? Or are the two completely different?
Thank You.
