You're going to find this same issue even with top name brands like Mustang and Saddlemen. If you want to protect areas of contact, buy some adhesive paint protection film and cover those areas.

@@LifeOfBurch I was not attempting to split hairs. I apologize if that was the impression. I too struggle with words. I'm sorry that seat messed up your bike.

i just watched one of your other videos where you had these little guard rail things on the front of your rebel what are those called and what is their purpose?
I'm glad this, seat, topic is being discussed. I would like a seat like the step-up shown. The video has me a little confused. The review of the seat was mostly positive but it still gets a "DO NOT Buy" title. I think the paint scratching could be prevented, somehow. The gap mentioned looks the same as the OEM seat, from what I could see. I would like to know if the driver sits any higher or further back (for taller riders).
This was not meant to be a positive review. The paint scratching *could* be prevented, but for $400 it should’ve already been prevented. I wouldn’t expect to pay that kind of money for a seat that I need to modify in order to use it without causing damage. The gap is definitely larger than stock. The main concern there, which I forget if I mentioned in this video, is the gap between the seat and the frame toward the front. You can see into the under seat storage which had me concerned about water getting in. The gap between the tank and the seat is a bit unsightly, but less of an actual concern. As for seating position, there wasn’t a noticeable difference from stock. It maaaybe sat me a bit higher up, but not enough that I could say for certain.
Had a similar issue with an eBay seat for my 500, more chunky than the pictures and the bolt at the back was crooked. I just unscrewed the bolt and screwed it back in straight because the seller was very unhelpful and said it was meant to be crooked….which we all know was a lie
The damage does not tally with the marks on the seat base to me. It looks like the damage should tally with marks on the other side of that hump to give damage to the rear of the frame, the most probable culprit is the two round rubber buffers not sitting on the frame but because the seat was mounted further back ( as you said it was further back from the tank ) from where it should have been they have gone to the back of the frame instead of on top, this would have given a firm base for the passenger seat to rest on to take the weight of the passenger. The Honda passenger seat has four pads which rest on the fender, missing from this copy so I guess they meant the buffers to rest on the frame.
The damage is 100% from those marks. The entire seat pan is black, and the paint is rubbed off exactly where the damage was. The rubber feet are all seated as they’re meant to be seated, and the seat isn’t sitting any further back than it’s meant to. It’s away from the tank because they just didn’t extend the front lip of the seat far enough out. The latch, rear attachment point, and all rubber feet are exactly where they’re meant to be. That area around the frame rail just wasn’t molded properly to give enough clearance. Even if the entire seat was slid forward as you mentioned, that would cause MORE contact with the frame rail, not less. The seat would have to be further BACK to prevent the contact that happened.
Hey Burch got an 2023 rebel rebel 1100 my seat is stuck won't release wondering if you know a trick or something only 200 miles on it maybe opened it 5 times
I agree an expensive (or any) part shouldn't do any damage to your bike but at the same time calling a scratch permanent damage is one of the most laughable statements I've heard this week
Thanks for the review. It’s more evidence: stock is best. Same with exhaust. Stock is best for so many reasons. My Rebel is stock. It’s awesome as is. My Harley Softail has been altered by the previous owner with exhaust, carb, ignition, bars. All crap. I’m putting it all back to stock. That deafening V&H exhaust was first to go.
Hey can you take the pad off the sissy bar and use it like a grab rail? Looks like it would work and look nice like that. My corbin seat left a huge scuff on the frame rail, paint missing and all. I only noticed it the other day. Even the Corbin has problems. Keep up the vids man!
A more comfortable seat is in my future plans for my new 1100. But I really want to move the handle bars up and back towards me first. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks, and keep up the great work 👍.
Plus side, if an ebay seller just ghosts you when you have a valid return claim, you get a refund and you get to keep the item. So you may have gotten a free seat for your troubles.
A larger seat will never look good on that bike. However, if you want long range riding comfort you have to have a wide seat. That's just the way it is. Something has to give.
Put your seat on with some fresh whiteout where you think any pressure points my be. Sit on it, bounce on it and wiggle for a few minutes. See if any rubbed off. If so, shave it down a little and put a felt pad on it.
Although I only have the 500 a little mod I like is the smoked small screen. Adds a little to the bike I think. Obviously an aftermarket exhaust is the first step for anyone…
I’ve definitely been in the market for a fairing of some sort! I’m not a huge fan of just the screens, so hoping we get some decent fairings soon to deflect some wind and look cool doing it! Haha
Great idea for the storage cave. Keep the bikes out of the weather, ALWAYS. Still waiting for the Mustang seat. Big fan of the wide solo and daytripper from previous bikes.
Just bought the rebel 1100 manual. When I turn it off the HISS light keeps flashing. Is there a way to turn it off? Am worried it will suck the battery given it turns off automatically after 24hrs. Pls help
I mean some pads would fix that. But at that price you would think it would've come supplied with pads either fitted or fit to suit to prevent this. If this seat was 100 bucks then fair enough. But man 400 bucks you'd expect this to be done already. I do like the seat TBF very nice
Hey man, don’t worry too much if the eBay seller doesn’t reply. If they don’t provide customer service you can ask eBay to step in and they solve the issue for you by providing you a reimbursement. It will take a while for you to get your money back, but you’ll get it back.
Next time just wait for Saddlemen to start making one. $420? I've seen that exact style seat for Harleys on ebay @$150. My Saddlemen for my Road King was only $30 more, & the quality is at least 100x better. Don't feel too bad about getting taken- I did the same thing on my 1st Sportster. It's a learning experience, we all go through it.
Honestly the seat was pretty decent quality aside from this issue. Nowhere near Saddlemen quality, but MUCH higher quality than the $150-200 Thai seats that I had on my Rebel 300 and Rebel 500. Well…ya know, up until it scratched my bike 😂 I wasn’t expecting top tier quality, but definitely didn’t expect it to scratch the bike either 😭
Not comfortable enough to justify the price and damage. Definitely firmer than I was expecting, but I obviously didn’t have time to break it in either.
I ride a lot. around 75-90k a year depending on work. So I try a lot of seats and really love Corbin. I've had 3 Corbin seats. The first 2 were absolutely stupendous. They weren't the decked out ones, I didn't customize them at all, just clicked buy & loved them forever. When I recently bought my new Africa Twin I decided to splurge and go all out & got every option. ended up being ~800. Worst mistake of my life. The fabric color was WAY off, the diamond stitching is inconsistent and ugly, fabric was pulled so tight that it started separating, the heated seat doesn't work, the wires they sent me to connect to the battery were ~24" too short, the seat sits angled on the bike and it doesn't even latch. Messaged Corbin with pics and they basically told me to go **** myself. Incredible. So anyway don't get a Corbin. 🤣 Even if they are the most comfortable seat you can buy.
Dude! You're just constantly whining about that bike! You jinxed yourself from the get go v with all the problems you been having. It's obviously not meant to be
Burch, there are of course a half a dozen videos on RUclips about it. The bike is not available yet anywhere not even for media test rides. Honda Europe has done it's own press release. On their EU website they have all pictures, specs, and video.
Ideally shooting for a “dyna bro” style! I have Burly Brand stiletto shocks about to go on, Burly Brand MX style footpegs, and hoping someone will make some t-bars to bring the bars up a bit and then put a front fairing on. Just going for subtle, fun, and comfy I guess.
You could probably shave down the pressure points and then put 3M tape over the area to protect the frame more, but I don’t want to go that route. On a second-hand seat or a $200 seat, maybe I’d be open to it. But on a $400 that’s already damaged my bike, I’m not taking the chances. I’d rather go back to stock and wait it out for something with higher quality that still works with the backrest.
Is there any way to mod the seat pan to take the pressure off those areas? I know it’s not ideal but returning it seems like a huge hassle. There are also several companies who could take that seat, mold the inside, and re-upholster it to give it more of the Saddleman step-up look you are probably going for
I’m sure I could file down the area where the pressure points are and maybe throw some 3M tape over it, but it just wouldn’t be worth it for me. I’d maybe do it if I were 100% sold on the looks of it, but I’m not unfortunately. And losing the use of the backrest is a big deal for me because it made it sooo much easier to ride two up.
You get what you pay for. If you are that particular, then pay the extra money for the Corbin. I baught my Corbin seat 20+ years ago, best money I ever spent. 👍

Hey Burch! Have you thought about/tried the Mustang seat? I am pretty sure they make one for the 1100. Edit: Never mind, I don’t see one for the 1100 on their website. 🤯
So I was originally really excited to try the Mustang 1100 seat, and then everyone who got the first batch of them said that the seats wouldn't latch so they had to send them back. I guess Mustang took the seat off the site while they try to redesign the seat to work better?
@@LifeOfBurch Oh wow. I didn’t realize that. I definitely don’t want to go with Corbin. Had two seats from them and they are a bit too bulky imo. And way too expensive.

And now you’re asking if I’ve looked into Corbin seats when I mentioned twice in the video that I didn’t like the looks of either of the Corbin seats. They better change their damn minds! 😭😂 They made custom seats based off the stock seat pans for the Burly Brand Rebel 1100 so I feel like they already have access to an 1100…which now that I say that, maybe that’s why they aren’t making one.
Note to self: if I ever want to troll a LifeOfBurch video, set off an atomic bomb in the background :D
Troll level: expert (and deadly) 😂😂😂
Wrap the frame with black viynl. I always use viynl around my tank because even stock seats will sometimes rub paint off on some models.
Saddleman needs to make a seat for the 1100
Agreed!!!
Awesome as always! Thanks for the heads up Mike!
Thanks man!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
So, one might ask what seat is worth buying? My stock rebel 1100 seat blows and want to get another but haven't found one yet.
Hey Burch got an 2023 rebel rebel 1100 my seat is stuck won't release wondering if you know a trick or something only 200 miles on it maybe opened it 5 times
thanks for your videos and help !
I agree an expensive (or any) part shouldn't do any damage to your bike but at the same time calling a scratch permanent damage is one of the most laughable statements I've heard this week
I’m glad you thought it was funny.
Good video Burch don’t let it get to you bro
Your art is making a negative thing entertaining. Thanks 👍
Haha
Thanks for the heads up
split seat; need both to be comfy and hope it raises the position about 4" higher !
Great idea for the storage cave. Keep the bikes out of the weather, ALWAYS.
Still waiting for the Mustang seat. Big fan of the wide solo and daytripper from previous bikes.
Still waiting for my mustang solo tripper too…was told it wasn’t going to ship till December now. Ordered in august.
I do like the seat TBF very nice
oh man, sorry about that. I would be pissed too, thx for passing that bad product feedback. No bueno see ya around
If they don’t respond, put a claim in with eBay- they’ll do an investigation and eventually you’ll get your money back
They fortunately just responded and I’m working with them to hopefully make it right! 🙌🏻
THIS. so many ebay sellers dont check their messages and you can get refunds easily through ebay because of it.
So how comfortable or uncomfortable is the seat? Cuz the minor scuffing doesn’t bother me at all.
Not comfortable enough to justify the price and damage. Definitely firmer than I was expecting, but I obviously didn’t have time to break it in either.
You aren’t wrong homie. You are spending your money on a product that should be extremely reliable for the amount of money they charge for the seat.
Hey brother go with the Corbin gun fighter. Expensive but worth it. Night and day comfort after install. Took me 5 weeks to get it but glad I did.
Hoooly crap that’s miserable!! Sorry that happened! You’re the second person to comment with an experience like this from Corbin 😳
So you have to buy a new bike every 12 months? 😄
@@letni9506No. I don't ride the same bike each day.
Dude! You're just constantly whining about that bike! You jinxed yourself from the get go v with all the problems you been having. It's obviously not meant to be
Dude! If you don’t want to hear me talk about the bike, the good AND the bad, then unsubscribe! It’s pretty simple ✌🏻
Burch, there are of course a half a dozen videos on RUclips about it. The bike is not available yet anywhere not even for media test rides. Honda Europe has done it's own press release. On their EU website they have all pictures, specs, and video.
What kind of style are you going for on this bike?
Ideally shooting for a “dyna bro” style! I have Burly Brand stiletto shocks about to go on, Burly Brand MX style footpegs, and hoping someone will make some t-bars to bring the bars up a bit and then put a front fairing on. Just going for subtle, fun, and comfy I guess.
Is the seat from cmx 1100 compatible with the cmx 500?
Good looking out. I've been looking for a really good seat and have been looking for something like the gunfighter seat.....but you know, not $600 lol
Can you get the saddlemen seat like you had on the 500?
Can you add rubber spaces/washers on the frame area of the seat to prevent scratches?
@@LifeOfBurch Totally makes sense.
You get what you pay for. If you are that particular, then pay the extra money for the Corbin. I baught my Corbin seat 20+ years ago, best money I ever spent. 👍
I think if you keep rolling during filming for noises we don't even notice, it would be more professional. Stopping to comment is annoying and takes up too much time as well as detracts from the continuity of your subject matter. Sorry dude, Just trying to help you. Keep up the great and informative videos. I appreciate everything you do.
I just ordered a Kacvbei dual seat. Wish me luck...
Why would you buy a seat not specifically made for your bike?
And when did I do that? 🤔🤔🤔
Honda forward seat? I need one!
You wouldn't happen to have any garage space or workshop nearby you could rent? Just to have a quiet space to record, or drive to a quiet spot somewhere.
You can't be mad at your neighbours for living
You getting angry is more distracting than those barely audible sounds in the background anyway
Have you looked at the Gunfighter Saddle from Corbin?
I hope this doesn’t come across rude, because I don’t mean it to, but did you watch the full video? You’ve commented asking why I would buy a seat not made for the bike, when I clearly bought a seat made for the bike. And now you’re asking if I’ve looked into Corbin seats when I mentioned twice in the video that I didn’t like the looks of either of the Corbin seats. Again, not trying to come across rude, but the answers to all of your questions are in this video.
This is exactly the type of guy who rides a Honda not a HD.
Bro I know you take pride in your bike but you can always cover a scratch if it looks good that’s all that matters
I went with the rebel Mustang seat. About to see how it feels when it comes in.
Let me know how it is! That was my first choice, but then everyone who first got them said that they wouldn’t latch and had to be sent back 😳
Still awaiting your update!
haha you don't seem like you having a good time with this video, hope you get the sadleman step up made, sounds dope!
Straight up not having a good time bro 😂😂😂
I sat on a rebel 1100 and the foot pegs were super to close for me and I’m only 6 ft if it had forward controls for foot pegs Thad be game Changer
@@shanepalmer9345 T-Rex racing has forward controls that are pretty cheap!
I bought the Corbin, as far as being attractive, my Ass couldn't tell the difference. But it loved how comfortable it is.
Don’t ever get whitewalls, you’ll never sleep.
I reached out to saddlemen and they said they have no plans to make a seat for the Rebel which really friggen sucks
They better change their damn minds! 😭😂 They made custom seats based off the stock seat pans for the Burly Brand Rebel 1100 so I feel like they already have access to an 1100…which now that I say that, maybe that’s why they aren’t making one. Maybe they saw the configuration and realized it wouldn’t work 😭
I reached out to them because OF the burly brand rep on our FB page. And nada. I’m hoping they change their minds or they’re gonna lose out on an awesome opportunity
This bike/accessories have been both great and bad for you. Thanks for the a video.
Keep up the great work!!
They should have a 3m tape to cover this…
Agreed! And thanks man!! 3M tape would’ve for sure been a lifesaver. Wish I had thought of that and/or been able to check the clearances better 😭
@@LifeOfBurch it’s always the things we wish we’ve tried lol. Best of luck for you to find a solution to this.Saddleman would be a game changer. Always loved their step up.
Have you tried the mustang seat? I have it on my 500… absolutely a game changer
@@SLIGHT_ I originally wanted the Mustang seat, but everyone who got the first batch of their 1100 seats said that they wouldn’t latch properly so they had to send them back 😭
I couldn't help laughing. 'I am making this video, no matter what happens'. And everything happend. It's a blue Monday in your world. You seem like a nice caring person, so, not to put on more pressure, but if you maybe wanna organise a get together with your friends again, why not let everybody throw in a few bucks and make it a charity run. There is soo many that needs it. Just a thought. Hope tomorrow is less hectic.
Might want to see if mustang makes a seat for the rebel.. I think tbey got a single and a double
Just sand down or grind the rubbing parts of the seat and you're good to go. Wait 'til you get the first rock chip causing super permanent damage to your bike. The video will be so sad.
man, this one doesnt look any better than my corbin seat. lol I thought you chose something more like Saddlemen 2up seat. but nope, this one looks like a replica of Corbin seat. Sigh....by the way, the background noise is very minimum. You dont have to be upset about it. It is all expected when you record in a public area. I actually would not even notice them if you don't mention it multiple times in the video. lol
Buy and cry, get your money back! Go with the Corbin. What do you think of the NT1100? Same drive train as your rebel.
Working on returning it as we speak! I just don’t like the looks of either Corbin seat so I’m holding out for now. Honestly I haven’t looked into the NT1100 at all. I’ll have to see what it’s all about!
*me coming home, slam door*
Oh a new vid from Burch!
*Slam refrigerator door*
Oh man that sucks he got his bike scratched. Hella lame.
*slams toilet seat*
Huh now he has to return the seat? Dangit.
*slams sink faucet handle*
Well good thing I don't even have a Honda rebel but wish I did
*slam my face into my hand*
😂😂😂 best comment yet! 🏆
Find a local upholstery shop that does motorcycle seats and have your stock seats redone to your liking..
You get a custom 1 off and most likely cheaper than ant vendor seat ..
You don't like the look of Corbin but that seat seems like a copy of the Corbin.
No, this seat is much different. Not as much dip/scoop on the main rider portion, not as wide on the rider portion, and much less bulky on the passenger portion.
that sucks, maybe that 600 dollar seat doesn't sound that bad now after spending 400 ona scratching seat lol
Just wait til you watch the video about the $600 seat…it’s even worse 😭 I just posted it a few videos ago!
@@LifeOfBurch Jesus OO Which seat do you use now? I will look through your videos to find it :D
@@ZinoAmare I’ve tried a few seats without success so I just use the stock seat still. I honestly don’t find it to be uncomfortable once broken in. I do have a customs seat on the way though so keep an eye out for that 👀
Just add foam and change the stock seat cover, can't stand the look of the saddleman
