This group gets no awards no mentions no recognition. That let's you know the music game is completely rigged. This group is played at all family functions and in all of our households. The feeling I get when listening to them is so special. Reminds me of my childhood, the elders and ancestors who danced to these songs. My husband's favorite group ❤️
This was way before my time and I'll be 30 in December and I love the 70/80's and even the 50's I'm an old soul and I hate this generation of music. This is my kind of music
That Minneapolis Sound influence of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis...trying to work with this group in '84 is how they got fired from The Time. They got caught in a snow storm in Atlanta..lol, couldn't get a plane out after meeting with record label to produce these guys and they missed their show when they were in tour with Prince during the Purple Rain Tour. They were also under contract to not produce outside acts until the tour had actual down time so they kinda violated their agreement/contract. Hence, why they were asked not to produce outside acts...they weren't able to fulfill their contractual obligations. But that freed these guys up to produce MORE great hits like this one. S.O.S. Band...Iconic for real!!!

Since the beginning Terry Lewis & Jimmy Jam: One of the best producers of the 80's and 90's decades. Pionneers. Thanks god, they finally met great mainstream success.
I have been looking for this song. I kept thinking that this was Loose Ends. Fun Fact: Mary Davis was a school teacher in Atlanta Public Schools. My sister Trinette, my cousin Michael and Chili from TLC we're in her class at F.L. Stanton Elementary in the early 80's!
I’m only 22 but that’s crazy! And the beat does sound similar to loose ends hanging on a string! The 80s is very underrated the r&b in particular The 80s definitely paved the way for sure !
@@tnbjune5177 its probably only underrated in your generation hun. Many of us have been jamming to 80s r&b nonstop since the 80s. Im 37 but these are the sounds of my childhood. Glad yo hear your generation is discovering all the old gems but know that this entire Era isn't underrated. This was literally the pinnacle of black music and creativity that died out after the 90s was over. Nothing but remakes and recycled ideas came thereafter (for mainstream music). My kids are all 12 and under ( i have six).and they all LOVE old music like this. My 11 year old daughter just came to me the other day when I was listening to faith Evans first album while cleaning and she said "mommy, I like this music so much more than new music because new stuff is so autotuned". When that album (faith) came out, i was 11 like my daughter is now. Its surreal listening to it reflecting back. Plus, my baby gets it and that made me proud, these are little kids and they get it! Something is terribly wrong in music today. Sorry for going off on a tangent but all I'm saying is we gotta keep this music alive through the generations. Thankfully we can go backwards and find fantastic music that was around before we were born.
I started listening to Larry June back in April of this year. Somehow it led me down a rabbit hole to 80s r&b. Been a big 80s r&b fan since. I feel too young to know about this for some reason 😭.
