The style of plate on the vambraces is called mountain pattern and is seen in a lot of Japanese art. Very very nice touch.
the metatron has a great video about that
The armor looks like samurai cosplay grade material. But I think it’s neat.
As a samurai myself this is something that I need now
I'd be worried about the groin armor flapping around while running, and thus smacking me in the Bits.
I own one, it doesn't flap nearly as much and it doesn't weigh too much to the point that you get hurt if it did flap you in the groins
🤣😂
The style of armor on the vambraces is known as 'Moutain pattern' and is Chinese. Entire chest plates were made in aid style. Wiki article for starters => en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_armour
Okay, but now I really really want a cyberpunk samurai style juggernaut loadout, I can't be the only one right?
I had seen this type of armor but Lamellar is a new word for me. I always like you videos. Bangarang
Thank you for this video! You answered all my questions (weight, noise etc.), been looking at these on Amazon but was unsure as there were no reviews, I am going to give the shoulder armour a go as I love both airsoft and samurai!
That armour is awesome. Dragonscale Lamellar would definitely be your style.
This looks absolutely beautiful I need to get this not only for nerf but for possibly cosplay, thx for showing this
Very flexible and workable. Impressive with real metal for deflecting blades and grenade fragments 🙃
wow I really like this armor I have bult the mountain style lame for larps in the past
This is some nifty looking armour! I love how the plates are all linked and slide over each other making it flexible, that is very clever. Maybe you need a samurai helmet to complete the look, although I don't really know what helmets the Samurai wore. Thanks for showing it off!
They wore what is referred to as a Kabuto helmet(although the name itself is just the Japanese word for helmet, its generally referred to as a Kabuto Helmet, in the same way that The Sahara is called the Sahara Desert.)
there is also something called the Jingasa used by Ashigaru foot soldiers
Well I don't know if that is any use in a tactical setting,it looks cool, but really I'd just use ceramic or pe.
I gotta get a set, especially since I use a lot of melee combat (when I’m not using my trusty Pangar’s Fist rival Saturn)
For 300$ you'd think it'd come with a vest as well
this looks like the armor from ronin on cod warzone full samurai armor but ballistic looking
I wish the ood tachi mag had a foam sheath to turn it into a katana blade.
disagree there, it suits you VERY WELL captain!
I've been looking for just the armor and not the plate carrier and had no luck it always comes with the plate carrier at a hefty price.
It's weird I've been looking into shoulder and forearm armor and then your luke here have a video lol
Oh that looks nifty. I've gone past my budget for the month, but I'll keep that wishlisted for the future.
Tactical Velcro belt work too for groin cover.
I have pair of katana w tactical hilts that would look great with that armor have both swords long and short and a duty belt w tac vest but wanna replace with this
I want to buy those plates too and I found a website to buy them without the set too. But I need a Vest to attach the groin armor piece so pls write me suggestions on wich vest or armor plate I could attach it
It attaches to molle. So any molle vest should work.
Cool!
Thanks , can you review the hip armor that goes with the set?
I can ask.
I'd wish someone updated the samurai armor for the future. I mean like using modern materials and technology
I'll add that to my zombie apocalypse arsenal please and thank you.
Greetings Captain, I hope this comment finds you well.
Do you know if bulldog flywheels will work in a stock stryfe cage?
I have no idea. Probably?
Am I wrong or did they overlap the plates sort of backwards so that if they were struck from above with something sharp it would catch and go between the plates instead of being deflected.
Unless the goal is to catch your opponents blade. Hard to parry an incoming counter attack when you weapon is stuck on your enemy's armor.
What is the chest rg you used to demonstrate the product?
It is an old, lower end Condor plate carrier I have had for many years as a loaner. I do not know the exact model.
Do you have recommendations for plate carriers Captain?
Depends what you want. If you want an actual functional heavy plate carrier to carry actual plates? Go with Condor. I have a Condor Defender I think. If you just want something cheap and light to carry some Nerf Mags? Something cheap off Amazon.
Historical armour talk makes me miss doing renactments
What is the vest you used for this video?
Some run of the mill Condor one I got years ago. Sorry, don't know the exact model.
Perfect "Sock Ninja" gear lol
Would this fit on someone who’s about 6ft3 280lbs or would it just look goofy and small?
It would probably look a little silly. But it would depend on what your mounted the armor panels too. If you put them on a vest that fits you it should be fine.
Just for the lamellar thing, the style isn't nessicary japanese, and actual japanese lamellar pieces were drastically different as they had more holes, and overlapped each other twice when formed into a board. Lamellar typically wasn't attached to a backing, but there are exceptions. For the chainmail statement, I'm unsure how that'll work, but I'm assuming you mean scales linked into a chainmail mesh, but often or not, that'd just be scale. If you meant plates integrated with chainmail, then that won't be lamellar. I'm not sure what to call it, but there are armours that followed a similar construction like karuta armour, moro plate, and such.
Trust me, the chain mail and plate works. I have made it. With metal and leather plates. Many cultures did it. But especially in the middle east. It is a form of lamellar. Lamellar armor was used by most Asian and European cultures for at least 2000 years. There are MANY variations.
It would be really cool if you added some sort of hidden foam blade like in assasins creed under a vambrace that can slide out by moving ur arm forward, although I have a feeling you will have a better idea than this, I AM speaking to Captain Xavier after all
Cool look which store did you get this armor? Let me know pls!
NFstrike.com. Link is in the video description.
Bought myself a set
I went and ordered a set as well. I'm excited to see how it looks, though I still need to find a plate carrier that suits me.
this armor need 2 shoulder big plate, missed waist armor, and it need an helmet which will similar to Japanese WW soldier helmet and should have cresent on it
hola todavia tines la armadura ?
No
@@CaptainXavier no te gusto o que paso :o
Looks like the set is made up of a shikoro, 1 part of the kusazuri, 2 sode, and armguards.
Someone should make a kote (armored sleeves) that goes with the set.
Suits you if you have long sleeves
Bit pricey, but you bet your boots I like it.
Also how much did it cost you?
Nothing. It was sent to me for free in exchange for the review.
I would love to get these but $300 for 5 pieces of armour is not worth it
My man looks like a shugoki from for honor
Does it stop bullets?
...of course not
@@CaptainXavier I am sure if someone has the skill could make it, bullet Resistant by using 1/4 harden steal and some very strong leather with some Teflon patting underneath
@@mannyduncan6891 yes...if you make it bullet proof...it will stop bullets...
Edge Saturn k26?
Yes
Did you say Dr Pubes....?
...no. Dr. Pews. As in the noise a blaster makes.
Non metal working cultures even use laminar, plates of bone are seen in a few places in America. I cannot for the life of me remember which of the pacific people used them.
I believe some Japanese armour was made of bamboo. Not sure if that was just ceremonial.
@@Burasta yes almost all cultures used the technique with something hard to protect one’s self. And if it’s what one has you will be amazed at what gets used. Look at Pacific Islanders armor.
@@Eulemunin I shall
A handsome design. Somewhat small for most folks with grown-up bodies though IMO.
Well...consider the source... ;)
