    Does this Head Unit have the option of switching on the reverse camera whilst driving like my current Alpine as it is a great option when off road.

  • @hippopotamus86
    @hippopotamus86 4 года назад

    You ran the mic cable over the top of the air bag. You can instead thread the mic cable down the cover and thread it through to the other side so that the airbag isn't obstructed.

    Does the harness work with Kenwood DDX 919WS?

  • @JuanPerez-yy5hr
    @JuanPerez-yy5hr 7 лет назад

    If you actually remove the two screws and pop the air vents out
    You can mount the GPS antenna on to of the ducting air vent

    • @AutoChimpElectronics
      @AutoChimpElectronics  7 лет назад

      Yes but not required it gets great signal where it is and very simple to do, but could always mount elsewhere as long as clear line of sight to sky without metal above it.

    Hi CarbonCarSystems,
    Thank you for your guides so far, out of curiosity if you are able to answer since I'm currently viewing the brz 2017 as a potential new car.
    How much is the ballpark/RRP cost for having a reverse camera and kenwood system installed?

    • @AutoChimpElectronics
      @AutoChimpElectronics  7 лет назад

      The unit is about $1099 and the adapters and plugs about $179 the brz has a camera already standard the plugs we do adapt the factory camera to the new car.

    Great video. Just wondering if the Reverse Camera 4 Pin to RCA/5 Pin Reverse trigger also converts the power from 12V to 6V for the factory camera? Is this available from a manufacturer or custom built?

  • @JuanPerez-yy5hr
    @JuanPerez-yy5hr 7 лет назад

    Great to see that there is still some good installers around
    Using cloth tape plug and play harness and common sense
    Just wondering beside remote start alarm videos
    A you going to do any upgrade alarm install videos

    • @AutoChimpElectronics
      @AutoChimpElectronics  7 лет назад +1

      The alarm in the 86 we do which is remote start and security can be done but its a two stage programming so its very hard to show that as it requires online logins and programmers. I will do a video but people won't be able to do it themselves unless well trained.

    Does this work with the OEM AUX port next to the USB?
    I am looking for a harness for Pioneer AVH 8850bt. Wish to use back the OEM USB and AUX ports and steering wheel controls of a 2017 BRZ

    • @AutoChimpElectronics
      @AutoChimpElectronics  7 лет назад

      This will retain the USB port but not the AUX, most people will never use the AUX anyway as with the new units its all digital media, two USB, and bluetooth audio so why would you use AUX?
      The problem with trying to adapt the AUX to the factory AUX they are normally 2x pole audio jacks when the new AUX inputs on aftermarket multimedia units is 3x pole input (audio and video) so it never works how it should.
      Some times you can use parts like this for example:
      carboncarsystems.com.au/what-fits-my-car/#models/325/categories/23/products/694/960
      But it doesn't work always with new units and is often costly.
      The question would really be would you spend the extra money on making the AUX work when you have so many better audio sources with the new unit?
      Even apps now like Spotify & Pandora

  • @samgab

    I just got one of these units for my 2010 Jap import Toyota Prius. Hooked it all up myself, made an adapter to RCA to retain the factory reversing camera, but I just hooked the factory reversing camera up to 12V Ign source... It works, but I've read a lot online about factory reversing cameras for Toyotas being 6V, not 12V... Do you know about that? Does the fact that my factory camera works mean it is a 12V camera, or is it maybe a 6V camera that will go POP soon because I'm running it on 12-14.4V?

    • @AutoChimpElectronics
      @AutoChimpElectronics  7 лет назад +2

      The factory reverse camera is only 6v but it can be powered off 12v not a problem at all! It will not go POP :D they have a voltage tolerance.

    • @AutoChimpElectronics
      @AutoChimpElectronics  7 лет назад

      You can just leave the stock microphone there , just unplug it from the stereo you remove and leave in the car in case you ever want to return to stock for sale.

    • @AutoChimpElectronics
      @AutoChimpElectronics  7 лет назад

      The 2017 models have a single piece dash that is different shape I believe but you can buy the dash piece with the Toyota rounded edges from the Japan
      Part number
      66077CA190
      From Subaru Japan.
      Or alternatively you can run the Kenwood DDX9017DABS.
      The camera will integrate with our plug yes not a problem.
      If you want email me a photo of your dash and stereo ill check what will work
