I was not too excited for the Anbernic RG28XX because of the small controls, so I was a lot more drawn to this one. This device is very pocket friendly and comes with a high-quality carrying case. With Onion OS coming soon, the future of this device looks bright ☀️

Ooof. That is super rough. I want to love it for its slick looks alone, but the performance and screen aren’t anywhere bear where they need to be. What a fumble. 🫣I hope the Onion team come through for this one.

Solid, honest review. If/when this thing gets Onion OS I think I might grab it. I love my Miyoo Mini+ but I need something more pocketable to scratch that "GameBoy Micro" itch.

Oyyy, lad just use some usb c headphone matey. 🎧 Its 2024 time to move on with 3.5 headphone jack.
Yaaaarrrrr, but it also dingles my dongle, it does, let alone having AA battery powaaarrrrrd headphones.. Something for everybody/still something "missing" be the game, if yaa'errrr be needin' battrey supply, how farrrrr can a handheld go that's tetharrr'ed to 2 or more other things.
Now, does a 3.5mm to USB-C out, attach to the headphones, or tetharrr'ed to even say, the Trimui Model S/A66. For that, headphones off USB C, it's hard to tell power/battery draws vs. standard powerless headphones?
I'll respect the vinyl, along with easy access of swipe for music, or yeah Shuffles were still pretty mean for "low tech"?
Headphone 3.5mm out isn't a deal breaker, though yeah long as it's not crackling or audio issues, yerrrrr alright!!
Miyoo & Onions be a good pairin', aye, and yeah maybe the jack ain't all bad, needed em on old electronics who'd swear on what 2.8mm or 2.5mm?? Once your headphones twisted even a nineteenth of a turn, poof goes your sound/ear/hearing. 😅😂
Still happy to have ears, no doubt, so yeah well balanced!! Even compared to the old RS-97s, these look comfortable! And long as that speaker's fine, volume wheel/knob 😬

Miyoo releases the miyoo mini plus also now with a really nice case, not in a box anymore
still holding out for the miyoo flip, but this one is definately on my radar
they fumbled with that dim screen.
I chose the 28xx i just needed something small without wifi to play at work
I definitely would not call Dreamcast mid. I would call it literally unplayable. Also the thing is you need a shader if you don’t want pixel wobble on SNES games because of the unbalanced pixels. I love the way this thing looks so much but they dropped the ball hard on performance, screen quality, and sound only being in mono even with headphones. The 28XX is better than the A30 in every category except looks. I expected so much more. This does not bode well for the flip they have coming out.
I think performance will be ironned out in future updates. Let's keep in mind this Miyoo Stock firmware. Onion OS has performed miracles on the little hardware they had with miyoo mini and plus. Screen quality I think is fine. Ive been playing indoors and have no problem seeing the screen and Im not even on max brightness. I think this isn't really a real issue for most people. Sound I under people want stereo sound. So you can have that.
What I will say is that the A30 comes with a case, has better controls, and Wifi.

I was using GPSP emulator but after I flashed my SD card it does not recognize my SAVE file so Im using MGBA core as my sav works in that core but i don't know how to fast forward its really annoying!. I am sure you know! ♥

About the case they have a case for it that the miyoo mini plus comes with
The rg28xx can play most ps1 at 2x upscale no problem. unless you really like the aesthetic or just can’t go without the analog stick, I wouldn’t pick the A30 over the rg28xx. I rather complain cuz I don’t have the stick then to complain because it can’t meet performance expectations. In the end, the ideal device would be a mix of both….. (cough rg35xx h)
For my use case, I much rather the A30 over the RG28XX solely for the controls. Ill mostly use it for GBA or like RPGs. I really cant do anything with tiny controls. But ill have to wait and see how I feel about it when it arrives.
I think the original Miyoo Mini was the same at launch performance wise.

Same. I would prefer the Mini Plus screen size over this one.
With the given hardware, I am not too sure it can adequately handle PSP despite have a stick for that.
Even if it could, its a 4:3 screen, it wouldn't work well for PSP.

I don't have a RG28XX to tell you but there's a lot of things I like more about this device. For now A30
I chose the A30. I just wanted a horizontal miyoo mini. They'll probably fx most of the issues, but it shouldn't have been released in this state. Pretty sad.
Too many problems with it right now. 28xx just got Garlic OS right now so I took that.
Garlic OS is still in Alpha
@@JaviPlayRetro and still performs better than the A30. Putting a 10 year old chip in this device was nothing short of stupid of Miyoo to do. The Miyoo mini plus is one of my favorites and they went backwards with the A30.
The brightness of this screen is very low. It should be replaced.
This isn't the first horizontal this company has made.

Ill try it for you but Im not confident it will play well.
It may play 2d games, but don't even try the demanding games. It can't. However, this won't be the case after a couple of months because Miyoo's product do get really good after sales updates from the community and from the actual makers. Having said that, the OTA updates can only do so much, the chip is a bottleneck. PSP emulation will improve but it won't be 100% playable with every game out there.

I bought this device and due to stock SD card, I bought more reliable SD card and put all games in A30 and only thing that bothers me is that the OS is literal shit. I don't know if I screwed something up or not but currently this device is unplayable. I'm gonna wait for Onion OS and start over. I really, really hope Onion OS will be a thing so I can finally play like I should. A30 is good device in my opinion but not like this

I just don’t get the analog stick… it’s less powerful than the mini plus, nothing will even require it lol.
Its great for arcade games 🕹
