- Heya friends, we're continuing with this series due to the constant requests and we take our war-hardened band of high level companions and family members(40+ strong!), and challenge foes in a narrow valley, somewhat similar perhaps to what the Spartans faced 2500 years ago against the Persians... How far can we push these 'Spartans' in Bannerlord? Soon we'll see!
What prompted this series?
I get asked a lot in my campaign just how strong a small army can be in Bannerlord. So in this episode we take a fantasy trip into another world and time, taking a small breather from my death-match campaign to explore the potential of how strong a hand-picked army of 300 men in Bannerlord can be. This series will show ever-increasingly difficult challenges as I wander the map with my own "Spartans", deploying elite troops into advanced tactics in search of Glory. With some 45 companions and family members, many who are over level 40, we shake our shields and howl our war cries as the enemy closes in.... Enjoy!

My campaign is an extremely late-game campaign where I am resolved to give no peace to these scum Kingdoms attacking me - seven of the eight have been at war for years, with only Sturgia at a neutral stance. My family of warriors is now large though and with what remaining strength and valor we can must, we stand against the map of Calradia.

I use four mods:
Lord Retinue Uptier(Makes the enemy forces stronger, much less peasants and lower ranked troops)

Improved AI Troops(Also makes enemy lords and their armies tougher by giving them a higher daily xp rate. This means you'll routinely face armies with HUGE numbers of the highest tier units, sometimes four or five times the normal amount in vanilla Bannerlord): www.nexusmods....
Death for all: This mod allows you to set the rate at which nobles die more often. I want both a harder challenging late-game but also a more realistic game. If you're cut down with a massive aserai two-handed axe, you shouldn't just be injured 99.9% of the time. It's a very customizable mod so you can just a little more death or set the death rate so high you get several deaths every battle. The number I often like is '10', some deaths but not a massacre of nobles...

I also use the Dismemberment Plus Mod: It's highly customizable and works seamlessly with the new beta(and versions back to 1.28). I thoroughly recommend it if you enjoy carnage!:

I've also used Realistic Battle Mod in the past and highly recommend it for Ai and battle realism BUT I find the pace too slow for my taste and the AI is actually rather predictable after a half dozen battles. Still I wanted to put a plug in for it here, it's a GREAT mod and highly configurable. www.nexusmods....
Much of the music and inspiration for this and other videos in the channel are inspired by Epic History TV - probably THE best channel on youtube(and the internet for that matter) covering the Napoleonic wars. With amazing work Epic History TV takes you through the dramatic and incredibly story of Napoleon covering all of his most famous battles. I HIGHLY recommend it.

lol, yeah, clean means no direct attacks and no racism, swearing is part of me. Seems like Sturgians would swear too a lot when they faced horse archers 900 years ago...
My current Asari campaign I have a bunch of high level companions…the damage they can dish out is nothing short of OMFG, especially my horse archers. They get a glaive, a bow, two quivers of arrows with which they wreck enemies at close and long range.
Ghengis khan says, "I know dude, c'mon, I did that in the 1271 campaign..."
I understand how he can get so many. In my campaigns I focus on my social perk and convert clans. My first time taking over I think I had 24 clans. This campaign I am taking it slow and even slower I am doing sturgians only for troops. My character already has 5 kids 7 nephews and nieces and we barely took over sturgia
The game gets REALLY interesting once you have a dozen children/grandchildren and other Kingdoms are more mature with sons and grandsons attacking you, etc.
The only issue of this challenge is that Spartans never used arrows as they thought is was a sign of weakness not fighting by hand if you could try and do something similar in this challenge it would be even a greater achievement you could use small spaces or villages so the enemy could not overflow the fields with men, I trust that you will think of something, you are going to need the best troops though to achieve it
I'm confident in all javelin Sparta army would mangle a lot of very tough armies. That might be another short side series! Thanks for the inspiration and the historical enrichment. I also bet they didn't use archers back then because they were so bleeping weak! Only by the 12th or 13th century did archers really become powerful enough to swing battles

Very well played. I have to learn from your cold blood leading the battle. I always get nervous and panic, making therefore many wrong moves.
There is an entire series of videos on the channel under playlists for intermediate tactics which is a really good way to build up your skill so that you can confidently command many units at once. You might benefit greatly from it friend!
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions I'm trying to follow each video, thank you for making them. Really useful content, exactly in the way I see my fight. You are trying to work each point towards the victory in the manner of hydraulic flow is going, sort of. So do I, or I'm trying, better to say.
What banners did you find the best for your commanders?
SPEED, footspeed in particular for my style of play BUT for keep sieges and defense, for sure the -15% damage to melee(or ranged damage). I don't bother at all with the morale bonus banners, but I could see an arguement for the increased accuracy banners for archers...
this legit reminds me of the companions from the elder scrolls series
I had a handful of companions back in the days, played Oblivion and Skyrim some, great stuff!
I have 20 vladian nobles and sellswords captured, the temptation not to wipe them out for sieging druimmor castle grows per prisoner. Sturgia has grown on me but i fear the current leader needs to go. Should i lead the second Sturgian conquest of Calradia?

I gotta' say in my last 2 k hours of M&BB2 i play only till 1091 as i get bored easily and come up in my Head with new ideas on how i can improve my Gameplay, as of now i play as Sturgian Women, who can only recruit Female Soldiers, so with that said there are only 2 in the Game with the Sturgian Byalic Sea Maid Troop tree and the Sword Sisters it's pretty hard as i have to stay near Sturgian Territory and in reach of Towns, and of course only on Foot (except the sword Sister with Crossbow) and all Female Companions (with infinte amount of Companions as long as they are Women).

You could try some of the great mods out there(Eagles Rising, etc) that give the game a totally new feel, but it also sounds like with your imagination, you'll always come up with new ways to see and play Bannerlord. My Peasants revolt campaign has been surprisingly fun and challenging(check it out if you want to see a new wrinkle on the game).

What weapon was you using while on horseback? If you smithed it what was the specs?

I use 2-3 old, smithed polearms. One is 90 speed, 140-something length, 120-something damage, another is 86 speed,160ish length, 150 damage.
Hey man I am a new sub but I want to say that what you do is great and the 300 has to be my favorite series so far. I really love seeing these videos pop up on my recommended tab. I think that if you keep the good content coming you might be able to do RUclips full time if that is what you want.

I'm almost retired from the fire service(+ ex military), so I don't have a huge financial incentive to make youtube videos, but I guess if there was enough demand, it might function as a hobby job when I retire.
